Tamara Halperin, PsyD, is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in working with children, adolescents, and young adults to help them reach their full potential. Her passions include working with parents, people who have experienced trauma, and client’s with anxiety. Within parenting, she focuses on helping children and parents form healthy relationships and manage difficult behaviors through strengths-based integrative approaches. I love working with college students and use a body, brain and soul approach to therapy. I am certified in Brainspotting which is a Body Brain based modality that goes deeper than talk therapy alone. It can help people get un-stuck faster. I also offer guided meditations in session and teach about the importance of involving the nervous system in treatment especially for anxiety, trauma and depression. I utilize hypnosis as well and treat fears, phobias and more. I offer hypnosis and for those wanting a more spiritual approach I also offer Spiritually Focused therapy. I am duly certified as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and family nurse practitioner. I became a RN in 2006 and a family nurse practitioner in 2012. After working in family medicine, I became very passionate about mental health. I felt called to serve those who were often overlooked. Therefore, I got my board certification in psychiatry/mental health in 2018 and pursued psychiatry full time. I have been working at Foresight Mental Health since 2021. I’m inspired to work in mental health because of how rewarding it is. Being able to help someone through a life transition and be part of that journey to help them navigate it is a privilege. I am a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, who has worked several clinical specialties including the pediatric unit, pediatric intensive care unit, adult medical-surgical unit, telemetry unit, adult inpatient psychiatry unit, and postpartum unit as a registered nurse. I received my Master of Science in Nursing from Azusa Pacific University in 2020. After graduation, I completed a one-year residency for the Veteran Affairs in Sacramento and worked with veterans with severe mental illnesses, substance abuse, and post-traumatic stress disorder. I have provided psychotropic medication management in a mental health clinic, inpatient mental health units and providing psychiatric consults on medical units for two years. For the past year, I have been working at Foresight Mental Health and provided medication management while treating the whole person through a holistic mindset. I became inspired to work in the field of mental health care as I worked in several specialties of nursing and I naturally gravitated toward working with patients, who have mental health concerns. I learned the importance of listening to my patients first and then advocate for my patient’s wellbeing by partnering with them to create an individualized treatment plan that focuses on improving their overall quality of life. I have learned how to implement active listening and supportive therapy to collaborate with patients to provide them with optimal mental health outcomes.
