Are you a bystander in your own life? Living day to day, going through the motions, doing the things you do because its what you are “supposed” to do? Never questioning why. Do you feel trapped in your own life? Insignificant in your world. Do your relationships lack depth and connection? Imagine having clarity; having inner calm; having a sense of purpose. These are things that can give life meaning and fulfillment. Are you ready to put it all on the table and make sense of things? To find confidence through congruence between who you want to be and who you are. Are you ready to embrace yourself and live an authentic life full of purpose and connection? My focus in therapy is on depth work. Through a client centered, relational approach I aim to support you in digging deep, asking the challenging questions and learning who you are while becoming who you are meant to be. With a deeper acceptance and love for yourself you will increase your ability and willingness to engage and connect with others in more meaningful ways. And through these intentional connections you can cultivate a narrative for your life that affirms your values and purpose.
**ALL SESSIONS CURRENTLY PROVIDED VIA VIDEO CONFERENCE** Are you new to college and feeling overwhelmed? Maybe, you are having a difficult time focusing and it’s impacting your grades. Perhaps, you’re unsure what you want to major in or don’t know what you want to do after graduation. Or, you’re struggling with finding motivation, missing classes, or falling behind. While school comes easy for some college students, others need more help in finding their strengths, passion, and people. You may be struggling with your mood, ability to focus, or work-life balance. Or, you might have trouble with time management, organization, and managing a heavy schoolwork load. Whatever the cause of your current struggles, an experienced therapist can help you find balance, feel better, and develop the skills you need to feel more successful. There is no need to continue to struggle alone. Seeking help does not mean you are weak, but rather that you are committed to reaching your goals and getting the most out of your life. Therapy can help you to feel better and get your life back on track. Having a safe place to vent and problem solve can be pivotal in helping you thrive. You can learn to manage your responsibilities, build strong relationships, learn healthy boundaries, manage big feelings, and increase your self-esteem. Clients tell me that I am different from other therapists. There are therapists that will simply sit and listen to you. I am not one of those therapists. I will listen and support you AND I will challenge you to work towards building a life that lights you up. We will laugh, cry, and have fun together, all while getting the tough work done! I offer the experience, knowledge, and skills to help you work through whatever issues are getting in your way. If you're ready start feeling better, I'm ready to help!
Most people who work with me are dealing with anxiety, depression and struggling with the transitions to adulthood and higher education. My clients will feel supported to process and explore what is holding them back from the life they are looking for.
Having trained at the University of Notre Dame (Ph.D., M.A.), UC Berkeley (APA-accredited internship) and Stanford (post-doctoral fellowship), I bring rigorous scientific expertise into my clinical work with college students. In fact, I worked at the University Counseling Centers at all three of these schools and have continued to develop a specialized private practice that focuses almost exclusively on college students. I also teach for Pepperdine University in their Graduate School of Education & Psychology. I help clients with a range of concerns including: anxiety, depression, career and academic concerns, ADHD, relationship concerns (situationships, am I right? :) ), body image and eating disorders, perfectionism, college/life transitions, as well as family of origin challenges (let's say it together, boundaries...). I often work with high-achieving students who often are managing academically but struggling internally. My clients often put others first and themselves last. By the time they come to therapy, concerns have been going on for some time and they've reached a breaking point. They may feel they "should" be able to handle things on their own. As a recovering perfectionist and someone who was riddled with anxiety throughout college, I get it. It wasn't until my own training in CBT that I learned how destructive such thought patterns were. It inspired my clinical approach, as well as three clinical workbooks I've published on Solution-Focused Therapy, CBT, and Positive Psychology with the top mental health publishers. Many of my clients who have been to therapy before often remark how "easy" I make the process. We laugh, we learn, and talk like old friends. Therapy doesn't have to be stuffy or stressful. It's about feeling respected, validated and heard. Learning to take care of yourself, set appropriate boundaries, and thrive! I'd LOVE to work with you! Please feel free to book a complimentary 15 minute consultation at my website below so we can connect!
For every challenge there is an opportunity. From the perspective of psychology, this means that the challenges we face can be gateways into a new understanding of ourselves; they are part and parcel of our development as human beings. I would be happy to support you in your development. I work collaboratively with my clients by helping them set realistic goals for our work together and use a variety of engaging or creative methods to support them in developing greater insight into themselves.
My passion is in helping my clients see themselves as innately whole, healthy, and resilient. I work in partnership with my clients to identify their goals and together we collaborate to work toward these goals. I am an EMDR certified therapist and I provide IFS-informed EMDR therapy in addition to other talk therapy modalities. I have found EMDR to be an especially powerful therapy, effective in healing PTSD/trauma, and helpful in addressing anxiety, depression, addictions, phobias, present or future fears, and distressing life experiences. I have been inspired by infusing IFS with EMDR, an approach that I use to guide my clients through internal complexities. With this therapeutic approach, I can help you in working through the barriers that may be holding you back. Your core beliefs as to how you see yourself and the world have the capacity to shift. What may feel heavy can become lighter. It is possible to experience a sense of relief. For more information, my website is www.annasolomontherapy.com.
I see patients only virtually, but can see anyone whose residence is in California, or anyone who is out of the country (USA). My website has information about what I do.
If you are the person, everyone turns to, who do YOU turn to? You give everything to everyone else but never have time for you. It gets tiring always being the ''strong'' one. I see you. You might be struggling to get through the day or question yourself and your worth. This can look like anxiety, depression, problems recovering from a traumatic experience as an adult or as a child. I want to help you know what you DESERVE. Find the life you want and be more in control of your thoughts, emotions, and choices. Let's look inward and do this difficult but deeply important and rewarding work together. Currently, I can see clients who reside in Pennsylvania, California and North Carolina.
I have a passion for working with people who want to live more fulfilling lives with a more genuine connection to themselves and others. My clients feel more empowered in their actions and relationships instead of letting their unhelpful thoughts and behaviors take over, while growing a more accepting and compassionate perspective towards themselves. It’s always a good session when my clients feel challenged and motivated to work towards their goals between sessions. I believe that much of the therapy work is completed between sessions just as much as it is in the hour minutes we will spend together each week. As a therapist, I’m not afraid of bearing witness to your pain and fear while finding ways to recognize joy and hope. I truly believe in each of my clients’ ability to grow and change. As an Exposure-based therapist, I’ll encourage you to take steps to approach your fears and reclaim your life. As a woman of color, I am sensitive to the ways that identity and mental health intersect and impact each other. I take an action-oriented and direct approach. Therapy is an investment in YOU, and I value all that my clients put into this work. I aim to “work myself out of a job” with each client, because I know that the goal isn’t to stay in treatment forever– it’s to live happier and healthier lives.

I’m a first-generation South Asian American therapist who works with students navigating anxiety, academic pressure, identity exploration, perfectionism, and cultural or family expectations. College can feel overwhelming—especially when you're trying to meet high standards or carry the weight of multiple identities. I offer a compassionate, culturally aware space to slow down, be heard, and reconnect with your true self. My approach is holistic and mindfulness-based, blending evidence-based therapy with tools from yoga, meditation, and Eastern psychology. I offer virtual sessions in CA and IL, and in-person sessions in Ventura, CA.
