Therapists for college students near Boulder, CO
Hello! My passion is working with people interested in personal growth and I strive to collaborate with my clients in exploring unconscious and procedurally-based patterns that occur in relationship with self and others. I have served as a therapist to young adults and adults in the front range area for 10 years. Before opening my practice, I worked in community mental health and at CU Boulder's Counseling and Psychiatric Services Center. I work primarily from a contemporary psychodynamic lens and utilize a wide range of techniques including Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, narrative therapy, interpersonal/relational therapy, Self psychology, and Motivational Interviewing. I am also trained in MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy through MAPS and am a published qualitative researcher on the MDMA-AT FDA trials. I am a cisgender woman currently residing on the stolen homelands of the Arapaho and Cheyenne, colonially known as Colorado. I identify as haafu and Japanese-American and I unjustly benefit from my East Asian heritage and proximity to whiteness, as someone who is able-bodied, and with financial and educational access. My sun and moon are in Cancer. I am passionate about matters of identity, race, culture, and social justice.
Genuine. Honest. Compassionate. I focus on helping adult clients overcome anxiety, phobias, and depression with cognitive behavioral therapy. Hello, I'm Rachel. Whether you are in acute distress or addressing long-standing problems, I know no one comes to therapy at their best. You will find no judgment here. As your psychologist, I will affirm your strengths—you have more than you realize!—and give you the tools to examine what's helping you, what's not, and how to change it. I am a licensed psychologist, practicing cognitive behavioral therapy to help people struggling with anxiety, phobias, and depression. I tailor evidence-based practices to each of my clients' specific needs. Prior to starting my private practice, I worked with adults in community mental health, youth in correctional facilities, and older adults in long-term care. I earned my PsyD from the University of Denver in 2008. I look forward to meeting you and working together.
I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ teens and adults navigating gender, sexuality, relationships, identity, and the emotional weight that can come with living authentically. My approach is warm, relational, and trauma-informed. I pay close attention to what's unfolding between us in the moment, while also helping you build practical tools for regulation, self-trust, and resilience. Our work might include somatic (body-based) practices, mindfulness, inner child and parts work, or deeper exploration of attachment, identity, and the systems we move through. I honor the realities of our sociopolitical climate and the ways it shapes queer and trans lives, and I aim to hold space that’s affirming, collaborative, and deeply respectful of your truth. Whether you're coming out, healing from trauma, or just trying to make sense of who you are and what you need, I’d be honored to walk alongside you. You don’t have to do it alone. If you're struggling, I want you to know it doesn't have to be so hard, and you don't have to go it alone. Together we can begin to understand and cope with emotions and situations which can seem overwhelming. Relationships can create such powerful movement in our lives, and offer real hope. I share a profound respect for your choice to begin therapy, and will provide a non-judgmental space to express yourself. Anxiety, loss, transition -- often these struggles give us opportunity to grow and deepen our knowledge of ourselves.
My work is motivated by my passion for human connection. At Thrive, I offer therapy for both couples and individuals, supporting clients’ inquiry into how they experience their own BELONGING and how they can access more joy and meaning in their relationship with themselves, the ones they love, and the world around them. I earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Naropa University, with a concentration in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Psychology. My approach to therapy incorporates my training in Gestalt Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples, Internal Family Systems (IFS), as well as her decade of experience in teaching yoga and working outside. I also enjoy incorporating the Enneagram into my work with clients, which can serve as a powerful tool for spiritual and relational development. Though I am not a native speaker, Sydney is bilingual in both English and Spanish and welcomes working with native Spanish speakers who might be yearning for a space to speak both in their therapeutic work. I also have both personal and professional experience working with the impacts of a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and feels passionate about supporting clients who are navigating those challenges.

We are a collective of body- and mindfulness-based coaches and therapists. We offer body-based contemplative counseling, specifically focused on the nervous system; here-and-now awareness; and relationships to ourselves, others, and the natural world, to unwind old patterns from the bottom up, leading to more energy, empowerment, and intimacy. We each have our own specialties (such as PTSD treatment, imaginal work, couples therapy, etc.), yet we share a passion for helping you explore your inner world; integrate difficult experiences; and feel more healthy, whole, and nourished. Everyone needs support to deepen into our own experience, find regulation and groundedness, and open to showing up as more of ourselves in the world, with the strength and freedom to offer our gifts. We would love to accompany you on your journey!
Welcome! My name is Christie Morgan and I am a relational trauma therapist in Boulder, CO. I am passionate about helping couples and individuals experience personal and relational healing. Has your life been impacted by trauma and you feel like there is no one who can understand you? You may feel as if you are in survival mode and no longer know who the true you is. Or perhaps you feel alone in your relationship and wonder if you can ever restore the connection you once had. However you arrived here, you are welcome here. My goal is to create a safe space for you to heal as you experience feeling seen and known. I often begin with offering clients tools for navigating the difficult waters they are facing. Before entering into the deep healing work, I make sure that you feel stable and equipped to navigate the healing process. Together, we will rework the negative and shaming messages that hold you down and isolate you, so that you can love yourself amidst your imperfections and live life more fully. I empower my clients to discover wholeness through evidence-based modalities such as IFS (Internal Family Systems), Attachment theory, EFT (Emotion-Focused Therapy), and mind-body connection through a trauma informed lens. I believe that access to mental health should be a human right. We all deserve someone who can listen to us and help us navigate the difficult seasons of our lives. My goal is to be a safe person in my clients' lives. I am LGBTQ+ affirming and am passionate about creating safe spaces of belonging for clients in this community. A core part of my work as a therapist, who is passionate about social justice, is creating a kinder, safer, and more just world. This begins with people feeling safe and at home with themselves. My desire is that in fostering a safe space for clients to heal their trauma, they will become catalysts for healing as they, too, foster safe spaces within their families and communities. I am currently offering online and nature-based therapy sessions.
I work with young adults and adults individually and in groups. I am currently only accept new clients for the groups I facilitate.
I specialize in working with young adults and helping them navigate these tough and challenging years. I have a holistic approach to psychiatry and am flexible to meet people’s individual needs. Anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, and depression are my areas of expertise but I treat everything.
My Approach: Direct and Compassionate - I believe these are the two greatest traits I can bring into my work with others. While working with clients I strive to provide honest feedback that will help guide them forward towards recovery while offering compassion along the journey. I believe that the best route to change is a direct one that does not beat around the bush. The road to recovery of any form can be very difficult as life may be in a state of turmoil. I have found that offering a compassionate approach that fits an individual's needs is the best route to take. My specialities/areas of focus are: substance abuse, addiction and trauma. I am a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I have additional trainings in Brainspotting and DBT. In my work as a counselor and my own life I have found that connection is of incredible importance. Inability or unwillingness to feel and express uncomfortable emotions can keep people disconnected. Through the process of recovery, lifestyle changes, and personal growth many people experience fear, anger, sadness, and many other emotions.
I strive to help clients recognize their strengths in difficult times and promote healing from past hardships, stress, and addiction issues. I use a holistic approach, with emphasis on the mind-body connection. I believe that healing takes place in the context of relationships. Therefore it is vital to establish trust and acceptance between therapist and client. Several clients have told me that they appreciate my compassionate, non-judgmental, and collaborative approach. I am a licensed clinical social worker and addictions counselor with eleven years of experience working in mental health and addictions. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, life transition issues, and addiction. I work primarily with adults and young adults. I received my bachelor's from the University of Colorado, and my master's in Clinical Social Work from Boston University. In addition to my Master's degree, I hold a License in Addiction Counseling. I use techniques such as mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), insight-building, and strengths-based counseling to assist clients through the healing process.
I work with adolescents and adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression or have been through tough times and want to heal from trauma. College specifically can be a difficult time emotionally, moving into adulthood and living on your own for the first time. Therapy can be a great way to process these changes, learn new ways to cope with stress, and get resources and support. I'd love to chat.
We are focused on promoting the mental health of all women, men, children, and families through reproduction and the transition to parenthood and beyond.
