Therapists for college students near Denver, CO
I specialize in helping healers, educators, and change-makers navigate life transitions with grace, focus their energy so they can save time, and solve problems creatively and inclusively while preventing or recovering from burnout. Young children I've worked with have also learned to use emotional regulation and communication techniques, helping them pause emotional escalation and improve relationship quality. I work with people of all backgrounds, with a particular focus on equity-minded patients navigating life transitions who want to solve problems creatively. Maybe you lost part of yourself in a relationship or a job; maybe you're depleted after a big challenge, or scared to take a big step. I can help you "tend and befriend" yourself, clarify what really matters, and empathize compassionately without losing yourself, so you can creatively play into this next chapter of your life. This belief in balancing presence in life with purposefully creating the life we want to live shapes me into a compassionate therapist who also invites growth opportunities. I look forward to helping you navigate life transitions and creatively design an empowered path forward in our work together. Much of my work centers on helping people understand the values and needs that drive their behavior, empathize with others, and collaboratively generate choices that align with their values and the values of those around them. My approach involves creating a space of unconditional positive regard, listening deeply, offering questions and perspectives that increase insight and peace of mind, and identifying small, meaningful steps you can take to create the transformation you're longing for. Working together, you can expect a caring, growth-oriented environment. I draw on a mix of humanistic, modern psychodynamic, Internal Family Systems, solutions focused, and narrative therapy, among others. This blend is meant to help you understand yourself more deeply, progress toward your goals, and understand others, in order to collectively work toward a more purposeful and equitable future. My style uses mindful presence and highlights opportunities for insight, and is tailored to your unique identity, strengths, and longings for a better world for yourself and others. My path to becoming a therapist began with studying Nonviolent Communication and learning about feelings, needs, and values, which improved my relationships with myself and loved ones. While teaching, a turning point came when I helped a second-grade girl who had suffered trauma. She was bright, but her emotional and social dysregulation got in the way of her learning. I built a relationship with her and taught her emotional regulation techniques, which she learned to apply during classes to reduce emotional escalation, and we worked together on empathy to improve her relationships. That experience left me more interested in social-emotional learning than academics, and I eventually went into life coaching for a few years before deciding I wanted to go even further in supporting psychological, social, emotional, and spiritual development. Today, I bring a whole human approach to each session, holding each individual as part of a wider social context where they can find the support to thrive. As a psychotherapy intern, I bring expertise as an Internationally Certified Life Coach, where I helped diverse patients using solution-focused therapy for more than 200 hours, along with more than 20 years of experience in Mindfulness, codependent recovery, and bilingual elementary school education. In my free time, I enjoy playing improv, hiking, nature photography, dancing, game nights, word searches, and sugar-free baking. I'm also passionate about advocacy, particularly around affordable housing, immigrant and transgender rights, and gender and income equity.
The Raimy Psychology Clinic at the University of Colorado was founded in 1960 and has been providing affordable psychological treatment for over 40 years to adults in the Boulder County area, including University of Colorado students, faculty and staff. The Department of Psychology at the University of Colorado maintains the Raimy Clinic as a training site for graduate students in the Clinical Psychology PhD program. Graduate student therapists provide therapeutic services and are supervised by licensed psychologists and other experienced mental health professionals. The primary goal of the Clinic is to provide an introduction to clinical training for clinical psychology graduate students. The secondary goal of the Clinic is the provision of quality psychological services to the community at large. An additional goal of the Clinic is the integration of research and clinical training. Because of the training function of the Clinic, we offer psychological services at substantially reduced fees, assessed on the basis of a sliding scale, with low flat rates for full-time CU Boulder students, faculty, or staff. We are a fee for service clinic and do not accept insurance. Credit card payments are made through a secure online system. Contact the intake coordinator for more information about our services and rates. We are committed to providing services to those who are currently underserved, including economically-disadvantaged, ethnic and sexual minorities, as well as families. Services are currently provided exclusively through videoconferencing, using a confidentiality-secured, HIPAA compatible Zoom.
It's nice to meet you! My name is Erica (she/her), and I am a queer therapist working with students who struggle with disordered eating, relationship wounds, anxiety, and substance use. Are you searching for relief from constantly critiquing what you eat or what your body looks like? Then this is the space for you. Are you tired of feeling as though you aren't good enough? Or perhaps you've realized that you're coping with stress in ways that make you think "this isn't me...". Then this too, is the space for you. Many of my clients are college students who are seeking to find more internal stability, emotional regulation, and a deeper understanding and acceptance of who they are. Navigating college is difficult enough, and can feel even more overwhelming when you just can't seem to feel like you. Therapy can help you understand yourself better, feel more self-assured, and provide you with the tools to better manage internal and external stress. I offer a free 30 minute consultation so that we can meet and chat a bit more about how you need support. If you think we might be a good fit, I encourage you to reach out! Wishing you the best in wherever your mental health journey takes you.
My goal for you is to provide a safe space that allows you to explore those areas of your life that are hindering you showing up as your best self. My practice style is one of a whole person approach, taking into consideration your own personal world, the interactions, challenges, successes and your supportive relationships. My practice approach is tailored to your needs and may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, EMDR/ Trauma Therapy, Goal-Oriented Brief Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, as well as yoga and meditation if that resonates with you and your path of healing. I practice from a non judgmental perspective and provide a safe environment to facilitate healing. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, feeling stressed and unbalanced or the loss of a loved one or relationship, I can help you work through challenges and develop goals to become grounded again. The path to becoming whole again can often take someone walking beside you and encouraging you, while facilitating the exploration of your own solutions. You know deep down in your heart of hearts what it is you may need, and I am here to help you draw on that inner resiliency, providing tools and skills that you can take with you as you face life head on.
My specialty is treating individuals with ADHD, anxiety, perfectionism, mild depression, stress, decisions about college majors, transitions, medical diagnoses (e.g., cancer, diabetes, struggles with weight, infertility, pregnancy loss). I use an integrated approach, but mostly Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). My theoretical orientation is based on the Biopsychosocial model. A little bit about me: I'm a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and I've been working in health care (mostly primary care) for about 9 years. In my free time, I enjoy being with my family & dogs and you'll typically find me hiking or somewhere outdoors.
Many of the students I work with feel overwhelmed trying to figure out who they are and what they want, especially in a time that feels uncertain and constantly changing. You might be thinking about your future while also holding awareness of things like climate change, global crises, or instability in the world, which can make everything feel heavier or harder to make sense of. Some students I work with are dealing with habits like skin picking or hair pulling, while others feel burnt out, anxious, or like they’re trying to keep up but struggling internally. I take a relational and systemic approach, looking at both what’s happening internally and the larger context you’re living in, while also offering practical tools to support change. Many of my clients are thoughtful and aware, trying to make sense of themselves and the world around them. Therapy can be a space to slow things down and find ways to move forward that feel more grounded and realistic.
My work is motivated by my passion for human connection. At Thrive, I offer therapy for both couples and individuals, supporting clients’ inquiry into how they experience their own BELONGING and how they can access more joy and meaning in their relationship with themselves, the ones they love, and the world around them. I earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Naropa University, with a concentration in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Psychology. My approach to therapy incorporates my training in Gestalt Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples, Internal Family Systems (IFS), as well as her decade of experience in teaching yoga and working outside. I also enjoy incorporating the Enneagram into my work with clients, which can serve as a powerful tool for spiritual and relational development. Though I am not a native speaker, Sydney is bilingual in both English and Spanish and welcomes working with native Spanish speakers who might be yearning for a space to speak both in their therapeutic work. I also have both personal and professional experience working with the impacts of a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and feels passionate about supporting clients who are navigating those challenges.

Hello and welcome! I am a licensed marriage & family therapist. I worked with clients in the La Jolla/San Diego area for many years before moving across the country to Florida. I currently serve California, Colorado, and Florida-based clients via secure video counseling. I work with individuals, couples, and families to help each person resolve problems, to create more satisfying relationships, and to live more fulfilling and meaningful lives. I specialize in treating anxiety disorders, couples conflict, substance abuse, eating disorders, chronic illness, and pre-marital issues, but I also have experience helping people through a wide range of other problems that may be bothering them (please see "Services Provided" for more detailed information). My approach is mostly collaborative - I believe that my clients should have options when choosing what type of therapy treatment they feel is best for them. I also, when appropriate, will work closely with a client's healthcare providers as part of the treatment. This way, my clients have additional support as we work through challenges. I absolutely love working as a therapist! Nothing gives me more satisfaction than saving a marriage, increasing the bonds of love between family members, or helping someone overcome an addictive pattern and find new meaning in their life. Please contact me to set up your first appointment.
Many people arrive at care feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or discouraged after carrying the weight of their symptoms for far too long. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, burnout, emotional overwhelm, or treatment-resistant symptoms that haven't responded the way you hoped, you deserve more than a rushed appointment and a prescription. You deserve to feel heard and supported, by a clinician who takes the time to listen. As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I specialize in medication management and psychiatric diagnosis for adults, and I work with a wide range of individuals who may appear high-functioning on the outside while quietly struggling within. My goal is to create a space that feels collaborative, personalized, and compassionate, one where we work together to understand what's truly contributing to your symptoms and find a treatment approach that fits your life and your goals. Healing doesn’t happen overnight, but meaningful improvement is possible. When you feel ready, I would be honored to be part of your journey. Specialties include adult psychiatric evaluation and medication management, anxiety disorders, depression and treatment-resistant depression, ADHD and executive dysfunction, mood disorders, trauma-related conditions, and burnout. Every person who walks through my door is treated as exactly that: a person, not a diagnosis or a checklist. Care should feel like a partnership, and from your first visit, you can expect to be genuinely included in the decisions about your treatment. I offer comprehensive psychiatric assessments, personalized medication management, diagnostic clarification, and ongoing monitoring to ensure your treatment continues to serve you well over time. For patients who have struggled with difficult medication transitions or treatment failures, I provide supportive guidance through those moments as well. Specialties also include interventional psychiatry, including TMS and IV ketamine therapies. If you are exploring or currently undergoing any of these treatments, you will have a knowledgeable partner alongside you every step of the way. Whatever brings you in, the goal remains the same: to improve your overall functioning and quality of life in a way that feels sustainable and right for you. Growing up in rural West Virginia, I saw firsthand how limited access to mental health resources can be, and how much that gap costs people who deserve support. This early awareness stayed with me. It was during my time working at the Department of Veterans Affairs that I found my direction in psychiatric care, a field where the stakes are high and the need for compassionate, skilled support is undeniable. Personal experience has also shaped the way I show up for my patients. Having watched loved ones navigate mental health challenges, I understand how hard it can be to ask for help and how much it means to find someone who truly listens. That understanding is at the heart of everything I do. When I'm not in the office, you'll find me thrifting, junk journaling, getting lost in a good book, and enjoying creative ventures through Mic & Madds. I'm also a devoted mom to two boys and a full house of animals: three dogs, one cat, two jumping spiders, and two hermit crabs.
I am a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner and Doctor of Nursing Practice based in Boulder County, Colorado. I provide psychiatric care that is collaborative, evidence-based, and deeply personal — helping individuals reconnect with balance, purpose, and confidence. My background spans acute physical rehabilitation, memory and behavioral health, and outpatient psychiatry. I’ve also served as adjunct faculty at the University of Colorado College of Nursing, where I taught mental health nursing across the lifespan and trained future nurses to approach care with empathy and curiosity. I founded Jamie McCartney Psychiatry PLLC to create a space where patients feel genuinely seen and supported. My practice integrates medication management, psychotherapy collaboration, and lifestyle psychiatry to address the full picture of mental health.
My therapeutic experience started over 20 years ago providing individual, group and family counseling. My true passion lies with helping people navigate age appropriate struggles, life stressors, challenges with mental health, difficulties in trauma related symptoms, addiction and/or substance abuse challenges, and relationship issues. Life often presents us with challenges that can make it difficult to find a way back to overall wellness.
A Stoa Therapy provider. For most families, finding a qualified speech-language pathologist means long waitlists, limited local options, and clinics that don't take their insurance. For adults navigating a voice disorder or recovering from a stroke, the barriers are just as real. We built Stoa Therapy to solve that. By delivering care over telehealth and working directly with insurance, we connect patients across Virginia, Colorado, Illinois, and Louisiana with SLPs who have specialized training in exactly what they need. The result is care that's easier to start, easier to sustain, and genuinely effective. Get matched, visit: https://stoa-therapy.com/
I'm a Somatic Therapist in Longmont, CO, working with tech professionals and multicultural clients, in person and virtually across the state. I spent years as a computer programmer before becoming a therapist and know "always on" work culture from the inside. I also immigrated to the U.S. from Japan as a child. My sessions work with the body directly, through sensation, breath, and movement, alongside talk therapy. I'm also Board-Certified Dance/Movement Therapist and draw on years of Aikido and improvisational theater in my work. My clients include BIPOC, immigrant, and diaspora students balancing multiple cultures, students managing a health or medical diagnosis alongside school, and people early in a tech-track career already burned out.
