I am a trauma-informed provider who specializes in supporting individuals and couples navigating conflict, depression, anxiety, infertility, chronic illness, grief/loss, trauma and transition. One of the bravest things we can do is begin to understand our own stories. Clients I support often grapple with the impact of narratives about who they were, are, or "should be", leaving them questioning, "Do I matter?" or shedding pieces of their identity to generate a sense of belonging. Together, we can explore societal and relational influences on your story, while identifying your values, strengths, options for healing and growth. I believe every client holds expertise in their own experiences and deserves the right to make decisions honoring personal journeys and values. My approach incorporates relational-cultural, feminist, and interpersonal lenses. I utilize the Gottman Method, CBT, DBT, IFS, and MSC strategies, also drawing from 12+ years of experience as a parent and educator. Everyone deserves to experience validation, compassion, and belonging. I am committed to facilitating a space in which you feel understood, valued, and supported as we prioritize your goals, explore your story, and incorporate strategies for reintegrating pieces of your Self so you also can experience increased personal acceptance and relational connection.
Occasionally we all struggle to stay "on top" of things, or have a hard time keeping up with everything we need to do in a day. For some of us, it's a little more than that. It's constant scrolling through social media to give your brain a break, and that break turns into an hour. Or procrastinating simple tasks like finishing an assignment, or sending an email. Maybe you're having a hard time just waking up and getting out of bed in the morning. It's distressing to feel like you're struggling and not know how to fix it. If this sounds like you, just know: things can get better! Anxiety and depression don't have to rule your life. I'd love to work together with you on topics of general anxiety, self-confidence, identity issues, relationship issues, faith/religious questioning, perfectionism, and depression (and more!). As a CBT therapist, I help you identify areas of difficulty in your routine so we can build skills like self-awareness, coping mechanisms, and self-esteem. We are all learning how to do this thing called Life. And you can learn how to live happily and authentically! I aim to provide a calming space where we can slow down, and work together to better understand and accept the person that you are, and the person you want to be.
As a partner in your growth, I acknowledge and accept that each person is unique, and has his/her own story. My range of expertise, including mindfulness practices, trauma recovery, and men’s health, are all tailored to meet your specific needs and reach your goals. Whether you’re experiencing stress from day-to-day, anxiety, trauma, anger, or relationship challenges, I offer a safe, judgment-free space to help you better navigate those obstacles by building upon the strengths you already have, developing new tools, and shifting focus to the present, in order to foster more effective and sustainable growth.
Feeling overwhelmed and struggling to manage your life? Maybe your coping skills aren’t working anymore, or aren’t so healthy. You have high standards for yourself, and you aren’t sure if you are measuring up. I work with people who are struggling with anxiety and/or mood issues which are chronic or situational. Our work together will be a partnership, and will include practical tools, including DBT skills. I provide free phone consultations; call to see if you feel like we will make a good team!
Sometimes in life we face challenges that even the strongest of people need help with navigating. I have particular expertise in supporting students experiencing Depression, Anxiety (Social & Academic Anxiety), college adjustment, career transitions and young adult couples navigate relationships. College can be one of the most amazing experiences of adulthood, but often times we face obstacles or mental health concerns that can be challenging to work through alone. I am an avid believer in counseling for everyone. I first went to counseling when I was in college and it was during that time that I realized the importance and impact it had in my own life. I believe in the connection between physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional health and investing in the connection between all four. My heart as a counselor is to create a safe and caring environment for my clients where they feel accepted and can begin healing. In creating that environment, I hope to build a relationship where my clients feel supported and that we collaborate in their healing journey. I believe that the experiences and relationships in childhood and adolescence have a profound impact on our lives as adults including our thoughts, emotions, values, identity, and worldview. As a Christian I believe in the inherent worth of each individual and believe that faith aids in healing. However I also understand and respect each individual's spiritual and faith identity and will honor where you are on your journey. I also recognize the pain that faith and religion can cause in an individual's life and have a desire to work with those struggling with the faith community.
