Hi I'm Alison Cross! I am a psychotherapist, and I provide both in person and virtual services in Georgia and North Carolina. It’s important to have an idea of what feels like the right fit when you’re looking for a qualified person to talk to. The problem is, how do you know? So here's what it looks like with me. When my client leaves our session, my goal is for them to feel heard and respected. I want my clients to feel like they’re talking to a real person. How else can trust be built? My style has been described as 'down to earth, gentle, and encouraging.' I also have a great sense of humor that comes in only when appropriate. I view therapy as a safety net for the various issues clients bring. I will collaborate with you from the very first session on goals for your time. Some people I work with prefer to set the agenda for our time together, with just a few interjections from me. Understanding the big picture and getting to the heart of the matter are things I'm good at. I have also completed the Level 1 training in Internal Family Systems and Level 1 training in the Embodied Reocvery Model. I love using these models because they are beautifully client focused. My goal is to develop a positive therapeutic relationship with you. When that happens, hope is tangible and the spirit opens to new life and new beginnings. All sessions with me will be virtual unless I'm in Atlanta and we can coordinate an in person session.

I am excited and passionate about collaboratively working with individuals to help them live a fulfilled, happy life! I have a genuine, empathetic approach to counseling, and strive to create a non-judgmental, safe, and supportive environment for every person who walks through the door. I believe that every individual has many strengths and can overcome any obstacle. I specialize in working with adolescents, and young adults. My areas of expertise include eating disorders, body image, anxiety, depression, life transitions, children of divorce, and self-harm . I am a LGBTQ+ affirming therapist and strive to provide a safe and compassionate environment for my clients. I am committed to helping clients connect with the best version of themselves by focusing on gaining deeper insight and acceptance in the face of adversity. I believe in taking a holistic approach when it comes to mental health. I have been trained in EMDR, which can be used to target a wide range of issues. I believe the past is present, which is why I focus on addressing the root issue since unhealthy behaviors/beliefs are often developed as a method of coping with something too painful or overwhelming. Additionally I love incorporating mindfulness and somatic psychotherapy to help clients attain greater mind and body congruence. The nervous system doesn't use words, so that means you simply can't "talk" your way out of certain emotions or core beliefs. That's where both of those modalities can help bridge the gap between the thinking brain and the feeling brain. Outside of private practice, I have worked as a clinician in crisis stabilization, residential treatment for survivors of sex trafficking, and an outpatient substance abuse treatment facility. You don't need to hurt alone. We can't undo the past, but we can work towards healing so you can start being present for the people and things you love most in life.

I believe an individual has the tools to live the fulfilling life they want to live and I, as the therapist, can help guide him/her to achieve his/her goals. I create a non-judgmental therapeutic atmosphere and I make sure to listen to my clients. Throughout my years as a counselor, I have had the pleasure of counseling individuals who need help with developing effective coping skills for their anxiety and depressive symptoms. I am also passionate about individuals who are going through bereavement and grief; no one should have to experience loss alone. Infertility is an area I am also passionate about because I have also experienced it. I also have experience in counseling individuals who have experienced trauma. My non-judgmental atmosphere in the therapeutic relationship, my skills as a competent counselor, and my natural desire to help individuals can be assets for my client's healing process. Sometimes we need someone to listen to us vent about life stressors, and I am here for that. To get to know me more, feel free to check out my website. Hope to see you soon! I am part of the Path referral network, which means that when you reach out, my team will get back to you quickly to schedule our first session. Through Path, I am in-network for most commercial insurances, and the average cost of a session for clients who use their insurance is less than $30.
