I am Counseling psychologist, and I've worked in college mental health for the last five years, first as a therapist at Syracuse University's counseling center, then at Rhode Island School of Design's counseling center. I both provided therapy, and helped train others to provide therapy. I love working with students and helping them adjust to being at a university, figuring out how to cope with the demands of college, and find their way in the university system to make sure that they have access to not just tools for their mental health- but access to academic supports, financial assistance, and resources to help them work with their faculty members. I'm a generalist- I work with people across a wide range of issues and identities, and so I really try to tailor what I'm doing to fit what YOU need. I also have specialised training in LGBTQ+ mental health and treatment for Trauma. I believe that we are whole people, and our identities, culture, and access to resources are important to understand, respond to and support in therapy. I both work to help you understand your experience so you can respond in new and creative ways, and also know and use pragmatic strategy-based approaches that give you concrete ideas how to take the next step. If that sounds like a fit for you, reach out and I'm happy to speak more!

I am a compassionate and caring therapist with over 15 years of experience working with individuals of all ages and backgrounds. I am trained in evidence-based approaches such as CBT, mindfulness, systems theory and Gottman Techniques for couples. My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where clients can feel comfortable exploring their emotions and building new skills. I also incorporate mindfulness practices into my therapy sessions to promote self-awareness and overall well-being. If you are seeking guidance and support in your journey towards personal growth and emotional healing, I am here to help. As a therapist, I have a particular interest in working with families and couples, focusing on understanding the dynamics within relationships and developing healthy communication patterns to create lasting positive change for individuals and their loved ones. I also specialize in working with neurodivergent individuals, providing gender affirming therapy and addressing LGBTQ+ needs. I understand that each person's journey is unique, and I strive to create a safe and nonjudgmental space, providing inclusive and compassionate care where emotions can be explored and healing can occur.

At its core, therapy is about the people sitting in a room together (or often sitting on computers together), and that safety within the relationship is one of the most important aspects of finding a good fit. I am honored to create that space with you. As a therapist, I start with one basic assumption: you are the expert of your own experience. My hope is to empower people to better understand those experiences or to bring in additional perspectives that might shed more light on aspects of one’s life. Informed by my background in queer theory, feminist theory, and anti-racist ideologies, I work with my clients to identify the external structures of power impacting their lives, then engage with the areas of their lives within their control where they can make changes and achieve their goals. While many forms of therapy take from one another and blend together, I begin with trauma informed relational-focused work and draw heavily on DBT/CBT/mindfulness-based therapy modalities. I view therapeutic relationships as dynamic, and work to tailor the experience to my clients’ needs and preferences. Whether you are someone who likes sessions to feel more conversational, someone who appreciates tangible takeaways like worksheets, or someone who wants to spend time practicing skills in our sessions, we can work together to find a treatment plan that suits you.

Sometimes the stress associated with being in school, learning who you are, developing relationships, and generally navigating college life can lead to feelings and experiences that are very difficult to navigate alone. Even the adjustment to college can be very challenging, and sometimes old patterns that you thought you left behind can start revealing themselves again. Perhaps new patterns are concerning you. It's okay to reach out for help. Feeling better is truly possible, even when it feels like it might not be, or that you don't really need help. You don’t have to live in pain, pretend that it’s all okay, or manage alone. Together we can find a way to more ease, love, understanding, and acceptance. The journey to self-love, healing and wholeness is full of discovery, and requires a trusting, therapeutic relationship. Finding a skilled therapist, who is a good fit for you is essential. If you think I might be a good fit for you, let's connect.

Do you ever find yourself thinking “How did I get here, and how do I escape this doom loop?" If you see a pattern of feeling overwhelmed, unseen, or misunderstood, you’re not alone. Maybe you’ve forgotten what it feels like to not be exhausted or in survival mode? Healing and peace are within reach, and I can help you find them. Patients say I’ve empowered them to see themselves in a new light, uncovering their strengths and potential. I focus on practical, personalized strategies for meaningful change while doing the "root work" to address underlying issues. Whether it's coping mechanisms or trauma roots, we’ll tackle it together. I specialize in helping people find clarity, control, and lasting peace in life. Sessions with me provide a safe and supportive place to explore, validate, and heal. Whether it's ADHD, trauma, family or relationship issues that brought you here or even all of the above and more, I can guide, support, and show up for you on your journey to the life you deserve. I know managing everything alone can feel overwhelming and that change and healing often seem impossible. But I also know they are within your reach. "Hope" might feel like a scary investment, but it’s one that promises lifetime returns when you commit to the journey. Take the first step and reach out; together, we’ll do the rest.

Hello and welcome! I am a psychotherapist licensed in New York and Massachusetts with over ten years of experience in NYC. I graduated with my Masters in Social Work from New York University and Bachelors in Psychology from The New School. As a therapist specializing in psychodynamic therapy, I provide a warm and nonjudgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and past experiences openly to gain a deeper understanding of your inner world. I have experience supporting clients through a wide range of issues, including depression, grief, self-esteem, trauma, anxiety, OCD, relationship dynamics, and life transitions. I take an integrative and personalized approach. I believe a positive and supportive relationship with a therapist can help us gain insight, develop self-compassion, and navigate the challenges of life. I provide in-depth talk therapy and integrate techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness practices. I am currently pursuing post-graduate clinical training in Psychoanalysis. During our initial consultation, I will guide you through the process and discuss your hopes for therapy. I work with Students at all leveles and my approach is both flexible and eclectic. I often use Brief Intermittent Therapy. I find that it works best for people to come in for a defined brief period of time (such as 6-8 weeks) and focus on one specific area that needs attention; the time in therapy is more concentrated and effective. When the need arises, I welcome clients back for a "tune up." My clinical work with students and families began in the early 1990’s. Much of my career has centered on helping kids in school settings. I also work with teachers and staff. I have successfully supported clients during times of crisis, transition, and struggle. I can help with anxiety, depression, peers, LGBTQ+ issues, and post-concussion support. I invite you to reach out and see if we would work well together. I am equally comfortable working via teletherapy or in-person therapy. My office is located in Harwich Center on Cape Cod. I'm happy to discuss what works best for you. Call or email Bonnie Jackman to schedule a free 15 minute consultation My Practice at a Glance Bonnie Jackman, LICSW 11 Pleasant Lake Ave Harwich, MA 02645 774-408-6164
