Therapists for college students near 02139
Many of the people I work with feel overwhelmed by anxiety, upsetting intrusive thoughts, or past emotional wounds that continue to affect their relationships, confidence, and sense of safety. They are ready for relief, connection, and to feel more in control of their lives. I help clients by providing specialized treatments for anxiety conditions, OCD, body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs), perfectionism, and the deep echoes of trauma—from relational and intergenerational wounds to betrayal trauma. I believe therapy can help us grow, even through deep pain. My role is to help you approach yourself with curiosity and compassion while guiding you toward healing and meaningful change. If this feels like the right fit for you then let's connect.

I offer telepsychiatric medication management services to adult patients (ages 18 years+) who reside in California, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon, and Washington state. Specialties include treating members of Sexual and Gender Minorities / 2SLGBTQIA+, emerging/young adult populations, creative professionals, and educators. I bring to clinic an abiding commitment to offering my patients kind, affirming, personalized psychiatric care. I do not prescribe controlled substances. The practice is in-network with select insurance companies in CA, IL, MA, NY, OR, and WA. I also accept self-pay patients from CA, IL, MA, NY, OR, and WA who may be able to collect reimbursement from their insurance companies, if they have out-of-network benefits.
Whether you’re looking to address a recent life transition or hoping to address more chronic mental health concerns, I understand that beginning with a new therapist is a vulnerable, and often challenging, step to take. While I have an eclectic approach to therapy in order to meet the unique needs of each individual client, my approach is always warm, collaborative, laid-back, and client driven. I’m particularly passionate about working with adolescents and young adults struggling with self-injurious behaviors, suicidality, eating disorders, and trauma. I also have considerable experience working with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. Regardless of the unique circumstances that led you to seek therapy, I strive to help you feel seen, heard, and valued. I hope you’ll reach out so we can explore how I can help!
As people, we are always in bloom. Over time, we become different versions of ourselves. The shifting landscape of how we relate to the world around us can be both thrilling and terrifying, and it can be hard to know how to process and adjust to life's transitions. I support clients in developing insight into their internal worlds, and exploring how core perspectives and beliefs shape interactions in the external world. Through this process, clients are able to identify aspects of past versions of themselves that are no longer serving them, and areas of strength that they can carry forward into future phases. I take an eclectic, person-centered approach to counseling in order to provide unique, personalized care. I prioritize creating a genuine connection with my clients based on trust, honesty, and respect. I balance creativity and practicality when problem-solving, and use psychoeducation to demystify and destigmatize mental health topics. My approach to counseling has been developed over three years of professional work in a variety of settings. I have worked with clients of all ages, with a wide variety of needs, abilities, and backgrounds. And, even with the skills I’ve acquired so far, I am also still in progress: I intend to continue learning, changing, and blooming along with you.
My training and experience in Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling allows me to work with a variety of clients in different demographics.
*I am always available for gender affirming care support letters* I am a queer & trans therapist that works with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, specializing in TGNC clients. The majority of my clients are non-binary, trans or gender expansive, and many are also neurodivergent. I believe in the importance of self-acceptance and self-compassion. As a result, I bring my genuine self to session, so you can feel comfortable unmasking or being authentic in our work together. My goal is to create a safe, affirming space where you can be you and feel seen and heard. I enjoy incorporating geek culture into therapy sessions, and I will sometimes use metaphors or references to help you connect with your emotions and experiences in a way that is meaningful to you. As a therapist of multiple lived experiences (multiracial, queer, trans and neurodivergent), I'm sensitive to the impact of intersectionality, power, and oppression on communities and individual experiences. I work through anti-racist, social justice, and trauma-informed lenses, and I strive to recognize and acknowledge the multiple layers of discrimination and privilege that can impact the way we move through the world.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, New York and Massachusetts (LMHC-D)/Licensed Professional Counselor, Arkansas (LPC) and a Certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist. I have a Master's in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling and a Master's in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, I taught for five years before joining the mental health profession. My experience as a mental health therapist involves working with clients of all ages, from preschool to adults, as well as with families, and couples. By implementing various interventions and techniques, the client is able to gain insight into their strengths, as well as discover new coping skills. I enjoy working with the client to help them gain insight into themselves, and their family system. I am passionate to be a mental health therapist, and am happy to offer support wherever I can. I strive as a therapist to help guide and support my clients in a safe and non-judgmental environment. I focus on the whole picture of mental health, and take time to separate and process the many Google tabs we tend to keep open. I am neurodivergent and enjoy working with the neurodivergent population.
I work with Students at all leveles and my approach is both flexible and eclectic. I often use Brief Intermittent Therapy. I find that it works best for people to come in for a defined brief period of time (such as 6-8 weeks) and focus on one specific area that needs attention; the time in therapy is more concentrated and effective. When the need arises, I welcome clients back for a "tune up." My clinical work with students and families began in the early 1990’s. Much of my career has centered on helping kids in school settings. I also work with teachers and staff. I have successfully supported clients during times of crisis, transition, and struggle. I can help with anxiety, depression, peers, LGBTQ+ issues, and post-concussion support. I invite you to reach out and see if we would work well together. I am equally comfortable working via teletherapy or in-person therapy. My office is located in Harwich Center on Cape Cod. I'm happy to discuss what works best for you. Hello! I’m Katherine. Therapy is a chance to have someone outside of your daily life help you process and navigate your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. I aim to create a warm, welcoming space where you can openly discuss even the toughest parts of your life. I have experience in many areas, but I especially love working with life transitions and changes, relationship dynamics, and self-discovery. As a woman of color, I’m also passionate about addressing racial identity issues and breaking unhealthy patterns with other BIPOC individuals. My goal is to help you find your voice and create a life that feels best for you. In our work together, I hope you not only find solutions to whatever brought you to therapy but also learn more about yourself and how you want your life to be. We’ll go at your pace, with you taking the lead. After all, this is your story. If this sounds like what you’re looking for in therapy, I’d love to start working with you!
Whether you are currently in crisis and/or have been wanting to unravel and alter unhelpful and possibly destructive patterns, I welcome your contact. I work with individuals and couples and have expertise in a wide-range of areas. These areas include, but are not limited to relationship conflicts, mood disorders, trauma, family of origin conflicts, medical conditions, LGBTQ+ related struggles, addiction and issues related to social justice. When appropriate, I encourage adjuncts to psychotherapy such as movement, creativity, pursuit of passion and related self-care. It can be a very courageous action to seek mental health treatment. We will go at a pace that is the right mix of comfortable and challenging. I have complete respect for who you are and what you are bringing to me now. The connection that develops between me and the people I work with is central to the healing and growth that takes place. I welcome your contact to explore whether we might be a good fit and/or to schedule an initial session.
