We are a trauma informed practice seeing individuals ages 18 to 65. We aim to offer a safe place to heal in a nonjudgmental way. We are a gender affirming and LBTQIA+ safe practice. We are also a safe place for all regardless of race or identifying factors. Our staff is compassionate, caring and respectful. We offer both therapy and medication. We also understand not everyone needs both services. We have a conservative and mindful approach to prescribing.

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who specializes in the treatment of eating disorders, as well as other mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, and life transitions. I work with individuals and groups, and received my Social Work training at the University of Pennsylvania. The techniques I primarily use are psychodynamic, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I strive to make my therapy environment calm and welcoming, and will help you navigate the challenges that you are experiencing as they come.

She specializes in the assessment of cognitive and behavioral changes associated with a wide range of neurological and medical disorders, including traumatic brain injury and stroke. Dr. Kurtz also has extensive experience evaluating individuals with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning disabilities, and psychiatric disorders. Dr. Kurtz’s evaluations are comprised of comprehensive interviews, as well as cognitive and psychological testing, which are integrated to form diagnostic conclusions and practical, detailed recommendations. Each assessment includes a follow-up session where this information is reviewed in detail and any additional questions or concerns are addressed. The goal of these evaluations is to provide each patient with information regarding personal strengths and weaknesses and to help develop ways to enhance daily functioning. Dr. Kurtz earned a doctorate in clinical psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. She completed both her clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the VA Maryland Health Care System with specialized training in clinical neuropsychology. Prior to joining CPA, Dr. Kurtz spent several years working as a neuropsychologist at the prestigious MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, DC.

I have accumulated over seven years of professional experience working with adolescents and adults across residential, inpatient and intensive outpatient treatment settings, including rotations at NY-Presbyterian Hospital, Jacobi Medical Center, McLean Hospital, and Germane Lawrence. I have studied Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) under Marsha Lineham and, for over two years, applied DBT treatment to personality-disordered adolescents and adults, including interpersonal effectiveness, mindfulness, and distress tolerance groups, 24/7 skills coaching, and participation in DBT training and supervision groups; I have studied Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) under Steven Hayes, and received over three years of doctoral training, supervision, and didactics in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for anxiety and depression. And he studied interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT) under Greg Hinrichsen for grief in older adults. And I have received formal and advanced training in other research-based treatment protocols, including prolonged exposure (PE) for trauma and “stages of change” and other motivational interviewing frameworks for substance abuse and addictions.
I have an extensive clinical psychology background and I have treated individuals of all ages for a variety of problems. For the past 20 years my practice has also included working with students from many colleges in the area, including Berklee , Emerson, Northeastern, Harvard, MIT, and a number of other schools. In addition to the problems which students frequently bring to a therapist's office, such as depression, anxiety, issues around self esteem, gender identity, school performance, worries about the future, and relationship problems, the Covid pandemic and the need for remote learning and social distancing has exacerbated many of these already difficult issues. I can usually schedule a first appointment within one or two days of contact. I meet with patients (remotely) via telephone and video telehealth platforms only, Monday through Friday from 7AM to 4 PM. I accept BXBS, Anthem, First Health, among other health plans, and will help with out-of-network needs.
