I specialize in working with people who are feeling overwhelmed and stuck in anxious loops of procrastination and perfectionist behavior. I help clients acknowledge triggers and learn new skills to move towards a life free of self sabotage and guilt to allow space for confidence and hope. I ground in the present while looking at and understanding how your past environment has shaped you. I utilize and encourage your strengths so that you may confidently embrace your desired change and feel empowered to heal through mind-body skills. Together, we will explore how anxiousness, perfectionism, and trauma are present in your body. We will identify your ideal life, then create a plan of action to learn emotional and body regulating skills so you feel more in control to react to life's triggers.

Make friends with your anxiety. Wait—what?! Okay, let’s tame it first. Then we’ll work on the friendship. Too often, anxiety management becomes about fighting it, silencing it, or pretending it’s gone for good. But anxiety is just your survival instinct—stuck in turbo mode. Trying to erase an instinct isn’t a great use of energy. And let’s be honest—your anxiety is a pro at fighting back. So let’s stop fighting. Let’s cool things down. Let’s get curious. Maybe even… make friends with it. Sound impossible? I’ll show you how.
It takes courage to start this process. I’m proud of you for being here and for recognizing that your mental health is a priority. I’m looking forward to learning more about you and helping you navigate the challenges that everyday life brings. I use a unique person-centered and strength- based approach to therapy, with acknowledging that you know yourself best! I aim to provide you with a comforting and safe space to express your hopes, fears, and worries, while establishing healthier thought patterns, coping skills and self-care techniques along the way. I will work alongside you to establish the best version of yourself. I joined GR Therapy Group after 7 years of working in the settings of long-term, palliative and hospice care. These experiences have shaped my expertise in working with individuals and families as they cope with life transitions. I have a limited license in Social Work and hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Michigan State University. My goal is for you to leave the office feeling welcomed, seen, heard, supported, and understood. If you're interested in setting up an initial visit, my contact information is located within my profile.

Licensed to offer therapy services in Virginia, Tennessee, and Michigan, Dr. Honeycutt is often sought out due to the advanced IFS (Level 3) training he received in 2010 under the model's founder, Dr. Richard Schwartz. With particular interest in how the ancient Judeo-Christian understanding of the psyche (soul) overlaps with modern theories of mental health, he has spoken on this subject at conferences, educational seminars, and university classrooms. Approaching work with clients from a Christian framework of psycho-spiritual health, Dr. Honeycutt combines modern-day techniques and psychological research with an ancient understanding of the human condition as created by God. Non-Christian clients who are interested in such an approach are also welcome. Sessions are typically offered online for those living outside the Lynchburg area.
My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe and compassionate space so that when they are ready, individuals can feel comfortable opening up about their emotions and experiences. In addition to talk therapy, I also offer art therapy as a way to engage the mind and body on a deeper level. I take a nonjudgmental stance and view therapy as a collaborative process. I believe you are the expert on your own life. Together, we will honor your differences, tap into your strengths, and work towards change that is meaningful and important to you! I enjoy working with adolescents and adults with a variety of concerns, including trauma, anxiety, and depression. I am also passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ folks. I believe growth occurs through a trusting therapeutic relationship and often use art, authenticity, and humor to create avenues of connection. Your story is valid and important! You are welcome to reach out if you feel like we may be a good fit. Currently I offer services both in-person and online. I look forward to talking with you!
College can be an exciting time, but it also comes with challenges—academic stress, big life transitions, relationship struggles, and pressure to figure out the future. Many students I work with feel overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about how to manage their emotions and responsibilities. Some struggle with anxiety that makes it hard to focus, depression that drains their motivation, or past experiences that continue to impact their daily life. If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it all out by yourself. I specialize in helping young adults work through anxiety, depression, and trauma using an integrative, practical approach. Together, we’ll explore what’s holding you back, develop strategies to help you feel more in control, and work toward a life that feels more balanced and fulfilling. My goal is to create a supportive, judgment-free space where you can be yourself, gain clarity, and build confidence in your ability to navigate life’s challenges.
I work with variety of clients, but most of my clients come to me for help with relationship issues -- significant other, friend, family and work relationships. College students often come to me with issues related to roommates, gaining independence from parents, anxiety related to overwhelming school work, career choices and figuring out who they are. College years can be an amazing time of growth and opportunity, but they can also be incredibly stressful. I love to help college students navigate and find their ways through the many twists and turns of college life. (In MI, a Limited License Psychologist can practice under the supervision of a Fully Licensed Psychologist. Supervisor: Joseph J. Horak, PhD, LP)
College can feel overwhelming, like a whirlwind of pressure, uncertainty, and loneliness. Between the constant juggling of assignments, social expectations, and worry about the future, it’s easy to feel like you’re constantly on edge. Even small decisions feel like they’re too much to handle. Relationships can become confusing and draining, leaving you questioning your worth or feeling misunderstood. It’s exhausting, and sometimes it feels like no one truly understands the depth of what you're going through. But you're not alone, and there is a way through this. I’m here to help you find your way back to a place of calm and confidence. We’ll explore what’s been weighing on you, whether it’s the thoughts that keeps you up at night, the uncertainty about who you are or where you’re headed, or the people in your life that leave you feeling drained or disconnected. We’ll work to uncover the deeper feelings and thoughts that drive these struggles, so you can learn to manage them, feel more at ease, and make choices that reflect your true self. I offer in-person and virtual sessions. Clients who work with me appreciate my calm, down-to-earth approach. Feel free to reach out for a quick consultation phone call too.
