I help clients get to know themselves closely. Early adulthood, coming off the chaos of adolescence, is a tough time, exacerbated by this extraordinarily tough time in the world. Working with me means sitting together and listening very carefully to you. As we listen together on a journey to discern your true self, we will hear many voices. Memories will surface. Feelings will come up. By exploring yourself in our treatment relationship, you can come to relate to yourself in a new way and gain clarity, confidence, and peace that you can handle what life brings. I specialize in psychodynamic treatment.

Hey there, I’m Calvin—thanks for stopping by! Life can throw a lot at us, and sometimes it feels like no matter how hard we try, we’re stuck spinning our wheels. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone, and I’m here to help. My goal is simple: to provide a space where you feel safe, heard, and supported. I work with men and young adults who are dealing with stress, anxiety, self-doubt, or just trying to figure out their next step in life. We’ll work together to unpack what’s weighing you down and build on your strengths to help you move forward. I’ve spent years as both a school counselor and a therapist, so I know how tough it can be to juggle life’s responsibilities while trying to care for yourself. My approach is down-to-earth and tailored to you. Think of it as two people working through the tough stuff together—with a plan that actually makes sense for your life. If you’re ready to chat and see how we can tackle things together, I’d love to connect. Let’s start working toward the life you want—you don’t have to do it alone.

Pillow Fort Sessions Therapy was established as a podcast first in 2019 and became an actual therapy practice in March of 2023. The goal of the fort is to create a child like nostalgic environment for reprocessing hard things. When you come into the pillow fort, we are not only going to address your current stressors from all angles to reach your goals. We want to understand you not only mentally, but physically, socially and historically. We also want to show that therapy can be safe and cozy!

Hello! My passion is assisting individuals in being able to process and heal through traumatic and difficult situations. I believe children are resilient and their main source of communication is through their play. I highly value offering a safe, accepting, and non-judgmental environment for individuals to begin making the changes and progress they are hoping for. By making these changes, our clients have the ability to live the life they want and do so successfully.

A lot of people say they knew at a young age they would be a therapist, but that wasn’t me. I grew up in a military family and thought I would continue that tradition and be a stay-at-home mom. Instead, I found myself in a journalism career and a marriage I didn’t like. Starting over after 30, I chose to return to school and pursue a degree in social work. Since then, I’ve worked with the military, in inpatient facilities, and in outpatient care. I love working with women who find themselves “outside the box” when it comes to societal expectations (child-free/childless, unmarried, or just a-plain-ol’ rebel). I love to focus on resiliency, self-improvement/self-esteem, personal growth, and even a bit of spirituality (if that's your thing). I'm a very laid-back, nontraditional therapist. I believe you are the expert in your own life and, sometimes, we just need some guidance or permission to do the things we know we need to do. I don't assign homework cause, frankly, I wouldn't do it if I were in your shoes, but I will suggest some tasks or actions that may be something to focus on between sessions. I also expect clients to show up with a discussion topic or something to start us off with; again, the time is yours to use as you feel best. I have very eclectic interests. Two things that are very important to me are spirituality and non-traditional relationships. I feel both have their own challenges and prejudices to overcome. I'm always looking for ways to include and incorporate my client's spiritual beliefs (if they choose to share) into sessions and help them build a strong foundation. Nontraditional relationships (including kink dynamics) can be a challenge to bring to therapy as there's often a perceived level of judgment—not here! I celebrate however your relationship looks and work to help you create the most nurturing and healthy relationship however that looks. One of my core values is curiosity, so I love it when I get to learn a little something from my clients. Having grown up in a military family that moved every three years like clockwork, learning about people and cultures has been a huge part of my life. I encourage my clients to practice showing and embodying their authenticity with me so they may go out into the world more confidently. I believe we all have something beautiful to share and learn from each other and I encourage those I work with to explore that on a deeper level.

Immediate availability! I specialize in women’s issues, relationship challenges, and supporting individuals and families impacted by autism or special needs. As a former special education teacher, a sibling of brothers with special needs, and a Christian, I bring both professional and personal insight. Using approaches like CBT, Gottman Methods, and EFT, I walk alongside you as you build healthier relationships and learn how reconnect with yourself and others. I practice through a HIPPA compliant Telehealth platform, which eliminates the need to find childcare and allows you to pursue counseling from the comfort of your own home. I work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families facing life’s challenges, including relationship issues, autism, women’s issues, OCD, chronic illness, anxiety, depression, and trauma. I also specialize in parent coaching, ADHD, military families, and pre-marital and marriage counseling. My counseling approach focuses on building a genuine, trusting relationship with you, as that’s key to effective healing. I’m also happy to incorporate faith if it’s important to you. If you think we might be a good fit, I’d love to connect! In my free time, I enjoy being outside, a good cup of coffee, serving at church, baking, and listening to music.

As social beings, people need the contact and acceptance of other people. It is not uncommon for people to experience things that disrupt or unravel their lives, and they feel they have no one to turn to who understands or accepts them. Whether this experience is anxiety, depression, stress, life changes, or trauma, my passion is to help individuals find healthy ways of coping and processing the events in their lives. As well as helping people connect with others in more meaningful ways. As everyone is different, I feel there is no single therapeutic approach that works for everyone. Because of this, I have sought training in multiple therapeutic modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). My educational background includes an M.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling from Florida Atlantic University. My Clinical internship was spent in a substance abuse/mental health facility in South Florida, where I worked with military and veteran clients. Before my degree, I enlisted in the United States Airforce and was trained as a Medical Technician/EMT.

I approach the therapeutic process with the belief that therapy is simply a human helping a human. By offering an objective and judgement free setting, my hope is to provide a space that offers freedom to share and feel without hesitation. I am a masters-level clinician; I earned a master of science degree in counseling and psychology from Troy University in 2016. I'm a client centered counselor with a passion to help empower individuals to gain knowledge, skills, and tools to work through their presenting problems. I aim to build a therapeutic alliance with my clients and create a safe, judgment-free atmosphere with the hope that they are able to openly explore their thoughts and feelings. I believe in the power of knowledge and it's ability to impact healing and frequently apply psychoeducation into treatment. I'm a strength-based therapist and my overall theoretical orientation is integrative; it commonly includes utilization of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as well as behavioral and solution-focused techniques. I enjoy working with individuals who suffer from anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, relationship issues, and various life challenges. I'm happy to currently serve individuals 18+. I'm licensed in NC and SC. I'm also an out-of-state provider for the state of Florida allowing the option for telehealth for clients located in Florida at the time of service. My mission is to walk alongside teenage and college-aged women, children, and families on their journey towards health and flourishing. I believe in a holistic approach to counseling that addresses the emotional, psychological, social, and spiritual facets of who we are. As a former student I understand the severe challenges college can bring. I am seeking to care for those struggling with depression, anxiety, self-harm, trauma, life transitions, and personal growth. I desire to be a light in the darkness and a source of hope and comfort for others in their own seasons of struggle. I am also happy to incorporate faith and spirituality in the counseling process upon request. I am a counseling intern under supervision pursuing my Master's degree in Christian Marriage, Family, and Individual Counseling from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
