Psychotherapy can benefit people facing a range of challenges. Currently, I see adults and adolescents struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship or interpersonal difficulties, and sometimes with health/illness issues. I see many people experiencing distress and other symptoms associated with life transitions such as adolescence, marriage, new parenthood or challenges in family planning, divorce, professional or personal role redefinition, retirement, and aging. I provide counseling to individuals and couples struggling with the shifting roles and demands of these complicated times. Therapy is a collaboration. I bring a warm, curious, nonjudgmental nature, an appreciation for individual differences, spontaneity and value of humor. Together, we explore patterns, thoughts, and feelings from the past and present. Clients begin therapy not only with identified concerns but also with resources that can be harnessed for lasting change. I use an active, contemporary approach to psychotherapy. I integrate psychodynamic, relational and cognitive-behavioral models and, where appropriate, health psychology, tailoring my work to each individual and their circumstances. My goal is to help people find relief from their suffering and to discover new ways of experiencing life to its fullest.
MY ROLE AS YOUR THERAPIST is to create a compassionate, non-judgmental, and supportive environment for self-exploration and healing. Whether you are experiencing a challenging life transition, difficulty in relationships, looking to change unhealthy habits, or just want to get to know yourself better and integrate mental wellness into your overall health. I AM HERE TO SUPPORT YOU with space and tools to recognize your own strengths and realize your potential for happiness. I believe that healing is most effective when all aspects of ourselves are aligned - mind, body, and spirit; therefore, my therapeutic approach is holistic, mindful, psychodynamic, collaborative, goal-oriented, and integrative.

The goal is to help you unleash your inner abilities to embark on a journey in discovering your own pathway to healing, restoration, and self-awareness with the goal to achieve inner peace and optimum harmony in order to thrive with audacity. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Hello! I'm Kat, and I'm here to be your go-to cheerleader and confidante. Welcome to a space where you can breathe a little easier and find the support you need to navigate the twists and turns of college life. My journey into counseling? I started with a passion for music, earning a double B.A. in Music Performance and Music Education from Ithaca College. Those years taught me so much about creativity and the power of education to inspire and uplift. But my path took a turn when I felt called to explore counseling as a way to help others in a deeper capacity. I pursued an MA in Counseling from The Family Institute at Northwestern University. It's there that I discovered my passion for holistic well-being and specialized in Brainspotting—an incredible modality to bust through performance/creative blocks and tackle the harder stuff like trauma. In our sessions, you can expect a warm and welcoming environment where you can truly be yourself. I firmly believe in your ability to overcome challenges and shape the life you desire. Therapy doesn't have to be all serious and introspective. We'll sprinkle in some humor, passion, and empathy along the way. So, if you're ready to level up and tackle whatever life throws your way, I'm here for it. Shoot me a message and let's kickstart this journey together.

The length of counseling is unique for each individual, depending upon on your needs and goals. Essentially, the counseling process is driven by you. We have two therapists at our facility, Bushra Husain, DSW LCSW, Maryum Khwaja, LCSW.
Life as a student can be stressful, especially when you find yourself impacted by academic or administration complications, or struggles outside of school. As a therapist, I take a holistic approach in order to recognize all the complexities of who you are and your unique situation, and strive to provide a space where you feel supported and understood. Many of my clients identify as BIPOC and/or LGBTQ (and found me because they wanted a therapist who shares their identity), although I have worked with students from all walks of life. I have a Masters of Social Work from CUNY Hunter and seven years of clinical experience with techniques such as psychodynamics, Motivational Interviewing, and CBT. These have helped me with students struggling with a variety of concerns - depression, self-esteem, family or relationship problems, and more. Let's talk together about what's been on your mind and explore how to support you on your journey. I look forward to hearing from you!
I am a licensed master social worker (LMSW) providing individual and couples therapy in New York State. While I work with folks who have a variety of presenting concerns and backgrounds, I have a specific interest in working with individuals, couples, and people in partnerships who are identified as part of the LGBTQIA+, polyamorous, and kink communities. Whether you’re seeking individual or couples therapy, I believe that meaningful change tends to occur when people can shed the societal expectations of what they “should” be, in favor of embracing who they are. To that end, I have an eclectic style that integrates humanistic, relational, and family systems perspectives to fit the particular situation and individual(s) in the room. I seek to de-stigmatize sex, help people feel at home in their bodies, and encourage people to feel good about what they do in or with their bodies. After completing my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree, I completed post-graduate education in the Developmental Model of Couples Therapy. Furthermore, I have additional training in working with sex and sexuality in psychotherapy, including desire discrepancy and infidelity. In terms of my personal philosophy, I strongly believe that my clients are the experts in their own experiences. I am committed to creating a space that is anti-racist, sex positive, and LGBTQIA+ affirming. I value transparency in the therapy process and seek to build a collaborative alliance with everyone I work with.
Janee Nesbitt has a decade of experience treating BIPOC adults and children in NYC. Janee takes a person-centered and trauma-informed approach to treatment. Janee has training in LGBTQAI+ issues, relationship conflicts, life transitions, grief/bereavement, anxiety, ADHD, racial identity.
Hi there, I'm Alexa, and I'm glad you're here! Whether you're navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, or exploring your identity as an adolescent or young adult in the LGBTQIA+ community, I'm here to walk alongside you. My experience in settings like a college crisis center, emergency foster care, and psychiatric residential centers has shaped my approach — compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to your unique needs. In our work together, we'll focus on helping you feel more grounded, connected, and empowered as you move toward the life you want. I believe therapy should feel personal to you-it is your treatment, after all! That's why I take a person-centered approach, meeting you with warmth, curiosity, and without judgment. I draw from psychodynamic theories, along with tools from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Expressive Arts to support your growth. I believe our healing is tied to environmental, political, social, and economic factors- and feel it is my responsibility as a therapist to hold each client within the larger context of their lived experiences. We all have a unique capacity for growth and healing, and I am eager to support you on your journey!

I work with individuals who are curious to pursue change - whether this be by reflecting on obstacles, with a specific goal in mind, or simply because something feels as if it is not "working" for them. One does not have to be 100% motivated to use therapy well, instead, s/he/they can come to sessions with any sense of willingness to explore.

"It's a privilege to be able to bear witness to someone's story when they may not have had the chance to tell it before." I’m here to hear you; to sit with you through the tough stuff, lift you up, challenge you, and cheer you on as we work together to identify and reach your goals. I help teens and young adults challenge depression, face their anxiety-driven fears, build self-confidence, and manage life’s stressors by taking a hands-on approach to problem-solving and building upon meaningful changes. I will help you identify and utilize your strengths, establish positive coping skills, improve communication, reframe the way you think, and build healthy habits. You are the author of your story, and I am eager to hear your history and help you identify what your next chapter holds. I believe people begin to heal the moment they feel heard, so it is my honor to be on the receiving end of what you are ready to share. I specialize in anxiety, stress, OCD, perfectionism, and body focused repetitive behaviors like skin picking and hair pulling. I will also work with you on self-esteem/body image, relationship conflicts, time management, depression, and life transitions.
