Therapists for college students near 10003
Hi, I’m a Columbia University–trained clinician with 20 years of experience working with college learners in a range of roles—including psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and professor. I specialize in supporting young adults navigating anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, identity development, and even high-performance areas like academics and sports. I bring both clinical depth and real-world understanding to the therapy room—and what makes me a little different is that I genuinely get the college experience. I’ve spent my career in it, and I know how to blend evidence-based strategies with humor, warmth, and a nonjudgmental presence that helps clients feel both seen and empowered.
I use a warm and collaborative approach grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help my clients navigate life transitions, identity development, and manage symptoms of anxiety, depression, and OCD. My goal is to help each person leave sessions with greater insight, practical tools, and an increased confidence in themselves and their ability to reach their goals. My therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I believe meaningful change happens when people feel safe, supported, and empowered to better understand themselves and who they want to become. I especially enjoy working with adolescents and young adults as they navigate one of life's most transformative periods. I have experience supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, OCD and OCD-related symptoms, and life transitions. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or trying to make sense of where you are in life, I strive to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and comfortable being your authentic self. My style is both validating and gently challenging. After we have established trust and safety, I am not afraid to ask difficult questions that encourage deeper reflection and growth. My hope is that every session leaves you with something tangible—whether it is a new strategy, meaningful insight, different perspective, or practical tool you can carry with you outside of therapy. My goal is to help you build resilience, trust yourself more deeply, and feel more equipped to navigate whatever comes next.
Hello! I am Dr. Janice Delgado. I offer online therapy to college students and young adults that are looking to find meaning and connection or improve their relationship with themselves and others. I have specific training and several years of experience working in college counseling centers. I work through a Client-Centered and Trauma-Informed lens to help my clients understand the relationship between their life experiences and worldview with their current struggles. My goal is to help you find new ways to perceive old situations and create a bridge toward resilience. Therapy may be a good space for you to figure out which obstacles are keeping you from becoming the best version of yourself. I assist clients in navigating depression, stress, life transitions, relationship distress, trauma and struggles related to their life stage. I can help you gain confidence, develop self-understanding and learn strategies to manage distress. I believe in the importance of creating safe spaces and meaningful relationships for growth. You can expect a warm, judgement-free space when meeting with me.
Working with me is a collaborative experience. I like to think of it as a road trip. You’re in the driver’s seat. I’m in the passenger seat, helping navigate. You tell me what you’re seeing. What feels confusing. What feels overwhelming. What feels stuck. And together, we figure out where you actually want to go. Sometimes we’ll take a left into childhood, family dynamics, and old stories that shaped you. Sometimes we’ll take a right into present-day tools, boundaries, communication skills, and routines. You’re the expert in your life, what has worked, what hasn’t and what is important to you now. I bring my psych knowledge, tools, and experience with clients. When we combine these. We can get you where you want to go. People say education is power and I agree, but information alone is useless. When I use my education, it’s not to lecture, instead it’s to empower you to challenge you to integrate it. Once you understand what’s happening in your mind and body, you’re not just reacting anymore. You’re choosing. Sometimes I’ll challenge you. Sometimes you’ll challenge me. That’s part of real collaboration. When I work with someone, I’m committed to this process with you. I’ll show up fully, adapt to who you are, and push you compassionately toward growth. You don’t have to do this alone. Let’s take this road trip together.

With over 20 years of experience, I’m an anxiety specialist who helps college students navigate overthinking, self-doubt, avoidance, uncertainty, academic stress, relationship challenges, and the demands of balancing school, work, and personal responsibilities. I also support students experiencing OCD, panic attacks, depression, and ADHD. I integrate evidence-based approaches, including CBT, ERP, and ACT, tailoring treatment to your individual needs and goals. ERP is considered the gold-standard treatment for OCD, while CBT and ACT provide effective tools for managing anxiety, difficult emotions, and unhelpful patterns. We’ll work together to understand what may be keeping you stuck and find more effective ways to respond when anxiety, difficult emotions, or uncertainty arise. You’ll leave sessions with practical strategies to apply in your everyday life. Whether you’re adjusting to college, struggling to keep up with competing demands, navigating relationships, or preparing for life after graduation, I’d be glad to help.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a private practice in midtown Manhattan. When I decided to go back to school for a master’s degree, I chose social work because I felt strongly about its foundational belief that focus should be on both a person and their environment. During graduate school at Fordham University I saw many appealing paths I could continue on after graduation. While both macro and micro levels of practice are extremely important, I felt best suited for work with individuals on a deeper level. I wanted to further my education and went on to complete the four-year postgraduate training program in Adult Psychoanalysis and Comprehensive Psychotherapy from The National Institute for the Psychotherapies. Prior to private practice I worked with a diverse population in various clinics throughout New York City. In addition to private practice I have been guest faculty at the Training Institute for Mental Health and taught a course on Eating Disorders. In March 2020, I completed a post master’s program in Spirituality and Social Work at New York University.

We are holistic trained therapists and an herbalist who works from a psychoanalytical lens that aids the process of further exploring, understanding, healing, and getting to the root of our problems. As a Haitian-American woman, I understand what it's like to be in an environment where mental health is not taken seriously. I pride myself on assisting adults to find a safe space to process their thoughts and life experiences. I have 7 years of clinical experience working with a diverse group of adults to build a stronger sense of self and confidence. Therapy is a journey. As the late Nipsey Hussle would say, "it's a marathon, not a race." However, in this regard, it's a marathon, a journey to greater awareness of self. As your therapist, I will respect your pace within the therapeutic alliance but I may also challenge you. I will support you and assist you in working towards changing your life narrative.
Hi there! I’m an EMDR, somatic (body-focused), relational, and parts-work therapist, seeing individual, relationship, and group clients all over NY state virtually. I specialize in working with folks who are: autistic, ADHD, childhood and adulthood trauma survivors, LGBTQIA+, kink/BDSM-involved, polyamorous and non-monogamous, chronically ill and in pain, disabled, and impacted by fatphobia. I’m entirely out-of-network/private pay and offer superbills to clients who need them to submit to their insurance companies for reimbursement.
I work with clients who have experienced trauma, are navigating difficult family and relationship dynamics, or are looking to better manage their anxiety, depression, or chronic stress. I have experience working with diverse client populations and the LGBTQIA+ community. We will work together to establish a treatment plan that fits your needs, and pursue it in a collaborative environment where you feel heard, supported, and affirmed.
I believe that therapy is a space to tell your unique story, where your lived experience will be received, honored, and validated without judgment. By diving into that story together, I can help guide you in understanding yourself and charting a course for future growth. As we walk this path together, we will work toward self-acceptance, empowerment, and joy. I support clients through a variety of challenges, such as exploring identity, navigating transitions, strengthening relationships, processing trauma, and coping with stress. As a queer, gender non-binary therapist, I am particularly passionate about providing sexuality- and gender-affirming therapy to queer and trans clients of all ages. I prioritize queer joy and gender euphoria in the therapeutic space, and strive to create a safe haven for clients to explore their identities beyond heteronormative sexuality and binary gender. My therapeutic approach is tailored to the individual client, and incorporates a variety of techniques and approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and anti-oppressive practice. My therapeutic style is goal-oriented and client-centered, and I prioritize collaboratively constructing a set of goals to bring intentionality to my work with clients. I strive to bring warmth, empathy, and patience to my work, and I encourage clients to identify and leverage their unique strengths and capabilities. My practice is informed by queer theory and critical race theory, and I strive to help clients explore how their lives have been influenced by social structures of oppression and inequality. In my free time, I love spending quality time with family and friends and finding new favorite spots to eat in my neighborhood. On the weekends, you can find me exploring Astoria Park and fawning over every dog I meet.

Many of my clients are young adults, college students, graduate students, and working professionals who appear successful on the outside but feel overwhelmed on the inside. They may be struggling with anxiety, depression, chronic stress, burnout, low motivation, self-doubt, or difficulty navigating life transitions. Together, we identify the patterns keeping them stuck, build practical coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and goal-oriented, helping clients develop greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and confidence in themselves and their future. I specialize in anxiety, depression, stress management, motivation, and self-esteem. Drawing from DBT, mindfulness-based practices, and Adlerian therapy, I help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing practical tools for everyday life. My goal as a therapist is to create a space where you can exhale, a place where you don’t have to hold everything together. Healing begins with compassion and connection, and real change happens when we feel understood without judgment. I don’t see my clients as diagnoses or problems to be fixed, but as whole people with complex stories.
