Life can feel overwhelming. You might be carrying past trauma, facing anxiety that won’t ease, or navigating a lingering sadness. Maybe you’re exploring how your identity has been shaped by culture, history, or generational pain—and you’re ready to reclaim your voice. Whatever brings you here, I want you to know: reaching out is a powerful first step. As a therapist with over a decade of experience, I create a trauma-informed space where you feel seen and supported. Together, we’ll face the hard stuff while making room for healing, hope, and growth. I specialize in trauma, anxiety, depression, identity, and life transitions. My approach is rooted in decolonizing therapy—honoring how colonization, systemic oppression, and cultural narratives impact mental health. We’ll gently examine and unlearn internalized beliefs, reconnect with your resilience, and center your wisdom. This work isn’t just about surviving—it’s about liberation. I believe in the power of healing, especially in the face of profound pain. Therapy for me is about coming home to yourself—finding strength, wholeness, and meaning. If you're seeking someone who deeply listens, understands your complexity, and honors your story, I’d be honored to share this space.
More beneficial than any technique offered during treatment is finding the right person to work with. You will find me to be insightful, genuine and completely with you while in session. I work to create a calm, safe, trusting environment so that true growth can occur. I focus not only on alleviating symptoms, but strive to find the core issue(s) causing the symptoms so that growth is lasting. I recognize each person and situation is unique and tailor therapy accordingly. My background encompasses more than academic and office-based therapy. For over 20 years I have worked with people from varying backgrounds in schools, camps, businesses and the medical field. This experience has allowed me to develop a unique and effective form of therapy my clients can understand and apply in their every day lives.

I've worked extensively with university and graduate students for over eight years, including completing my postdoctoral training at Cornell Health, and I'm deeply familiar with the academic, personal, and relational pressures that often accompany campus life. My approach is grounded in the psychodynamic tradition and trauma theory, with a focus on how early relationships and implicit emotional learning shape present experience. It is experiential in nature, emphasizing attention to emotional and bodily experience in the present moment. I draw from IFS, AEDP, Coherence Therapy, and Hakomi to help clients move beyond insight toward lasting emotional change.
If you've ever felt caught between worlds, or like your path hasn't quite followed the expected script, I get it — I've lived that too. I work with individuals of all ages who struggle with self-criticism, people-pleasing, and difficulty asserting their needs in relationships or life decisions. Working primarily from a psychodynamic approach, I help clients explore the deeper patterns and early experiences that shape their present thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we'll investigate unexamined beliefs and influences that may be holding you back from living a life more fully like your own.
At times the stressors in life can be crushing and prevent us from achieving our goals, or even forming goals. Each person defines stress in unique terms that can produce anxiety; related to striving for perfection, or feeling alone, or persistent unhappiness with our appearance, or fearful, or overwhelmed by responsibilities. Sometimes one specific event can alter our lives forever; the loss of a loved one, sexual assault/abuse and rape, becoming the victim of violence and witnessing violence. My practice is centered on the belief that difficulties in our lives can be mended and lead to stronger well-being. I support young people to manage stressors by building a safe therapeutic relationship to do the hard work of alleviating hurt and changing the way we manage the barriers to success.
It is both normal for us humans to get stuck, scared, or in our own way and also to need space and support to understand the cause of our struggles, face our fears, make changes, and grow. My goal as a therapist is to use our combined wisdom (your knowledge of yourself and your life, my experience and expertise), and sometimes that of my therapy dog Bella, to explore your concerns, increase awareness, insight, and self-compassion, identify options for change, and understand and respect what you choose to do as a result of this process. I have over 20 years experience as a psychotherapist and specifically working with university students (and staff), international persons, and musicians/performers.
Whether you're worrying often, struggling with relationship stress and conflict, needing to process traumatic events, or wanting to experience a more loving sense of self, beginning therapy can be anxiety-provoking and takes courage. I hope to make your experience a little easier by listening with compassion and curiosity, moving at your pace, and centering the therapy around your needs. Do others describe you as overachieving, self-reliant, perfectionistic, or Type-A? Do you struggle with creating enough balance in your life? Do you lose track of your needs & desires, and then find yourself feeling burnt out or resentful of others? We will work together to help you feel more grounded and centered, develop effective communication skills, set & maintain boundaries that feel good, experience greater compassion towards yourself, and feel more connected to others. We can work through whatever barriers are getting in the way of creating more play, softness, love, rest & support in your life. I am trained in psychodynamic therapy & mindfulness-based somatic therapy, two powerful ways of working that promote greater awareness, connection, and sense of freedom. I welcome you to reach out for a phone consult & we can feel into if we're a good fit to work together.
I’ve worked with many students of diverse backgrounds and who need support with their mental health needs. Students say that they enjoy working with me to resolve stressors and find strategies to improve anxiety and depression, ADHD, stress management and many other issues.
Life often comes at you from many angles, and sometimes the weight of change, anxiety, or difficult memories can make it hard to feel like yourself. With more than six years of experience as a licensed mental health counselor, my work is built around helping adolescents and adults navigate life's transitions, work through relationship issues, find balance, and reconnect with who they know themselves to be. Specializing in life adjustments that have often been created from feelings of anxiety and even potential traumatic experiences/memories, I understand how deeply personal and layered these experiences can be. Whether you're processing a major shift or working through something that has lingered for years, you deserve care that meets you where you are. My commitment to you goes beyond the session: I am dedicated to consistently evolving and growing with you each step of the way, while also focusing on continuing education to recognize and treat the various personal and life stressors taking place in the world around us. In our work together, the focus is entirely on you, because what you're experiencing, and related symptoms, deserve to be treated. Using evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and psychodynamic therapy, we'll move toward self-healing in a way that feels grounded and sustainable. Support, motivation, and accountability are at the heart of how I practice. You can also expect therapeutic homework from time to time, with real-world opportunities to practice the skills we explore in session. Bringing those tools into your daily life is, I believe, one of the most powerful ways to set the tone and get us back to where we want to be. My path to becoming a therapist, much like life itself, has not always been linear and clear. Growing up in a divorced household, change and adjustment were constants. It was through my own experience in therapy that I discovered something remarkable: healing is genuinely possible, and with the right support, so is transformation. That discovery became the foundation of my practice. What was given to me through that work is exactly what I want to offer you. Change is achievable, on any level, and you don't have to find your way there alone. When I'm not in session, you'll likely find me cheering on a favorite team, getting lost in a psychological thriller, or spending time with family.

The transition to college at any age can be challenging. Course load, social pressures and changes to friend network during this transition can cause anxiety, depression, burnout and relationship issues. These things can keep you awake at night, make it difficult to focus on your studies, lead you to engage in negative self-talk and unhealthy behaviors. I can help you develop coping strategies to help ease that transition so you can make healthy choices and achieve your educational goals.
