"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn how to surf" is a Jon Kabat-Zinn quote relevant to these challenging times. I help individuals become less stressed and more available to pursue their goals. Therapy should be a positive experience for you where you feel heard and supported and gain new insights into your feelings and experiences. Our sessions will be focused on you becoming restored and replenished with more energy for the things you value. Whether you are experiencing a short term challenge or ongoing struggle, it takes bravery to step forward and want to make changes in your life. I'm a seasoned mental health counselor and school psychologist with experience supporting clients with life challenges. Our work together will be client centered, strength based and solution focused. We will utilize cognitive behavioral therapy and similar modalities to examine perceptions, remove blocks and identify healthier approaches to problem solving. I will provide a safe environment to facilitate positive growth in your life. My approach is warm, non-judgmental and flexible as we work together to establish individualized goals and creative solutions specific to your needs. I invite you to contact me to tell me more about yourself and learn more about my therapy practice.
Aren't you tired of reading these profiles? Searching for that perfect mix of magic and promise that makes you think, "this one might just be worth the risk." And why shouldn't you be picky, right? Therapy IS a risk. You're risking time, money, and most of all; vulnerability. You want some sort of assurance that your risk will pay off. Well, no one can promise you that. Your therapist won't always know the perfect thing to say, and you won't walk out of every session feeling better. You want growth? You want change? That takes the willingness to not just bear, but to actually VALUE the pain involved in learning. Because if I'm doing my job right, then the negative patterns that are holding you back in life will spill out into the room. So if you’re just looking to end your suffering, I can't help you (sadly, no one can). If you want to learn to withstand the torment that life brings upon us. To translate that suffering into growth and change. Then reach out to me.
There’s a reason you’re visiting our web page. Maybe work has stressed you out to the max. Perhaps your relationship is fizzing and you don’t know why. It could be that you’re been trapped in a cycle of overwhelm and you don’t know how to break it. You might be wondering who you are, how you got where you are, and what you really want out of life. We totally understand where you’re coming from. You’re not the first person to struggle with these issues (and you definitely won’t be the last). Our experienced clinicians will help you get clarity about what matters and put an actionable plan in place that will help you find meaning and achieve your goals. We’re here to help you take meaningful steps towards becoming your best self.
With warmth, curiosity, and a touch of humor, I offer a supportive, judgment-free space where you can feel truly heard. As a former student-athlete at the University of Pennsylvania, I understand the weight of high expectations and draw on that experience to help clients build confidence, resilience, and inner calm. I love working with young adults in college and beyond navigating anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship issues, and making career decisions. My integrative approach combines psychodynamic therapy, CBT, IFS, ACT and mindfulness to meet each person’s unique needs. Grounded by time in nature and meaningful connection, I’m here to support your growth into a version of yourself you feel proud of.
Hey, glad you're here! Being a student is not just about education, is it? We've got lives outside of school, and all those moving parts can get us feeling overwhelmed, going a million miles per hour all the time, burnt out, lost, unmotivated, or even just numb. I work best with clients who are open to feedback, stay consistent in their care, and stay curious to explore different perspectives of their narrative. AKA, all I ask is that you show up to this space that I will prepare for you in which you can be totally you. Without the filters, photoshop, and all the overthinking of what the "right" thing to say is. You don't have to hold onto everything you're going through alone. Let's speak it out and game plan together on a weekly basis. If you feel like you don't even have the language to describe your experience, that's okay! We can build from the ground up. Maybe it'll help to think of it like this: I'm offering therapy like a key to a secret room that no one else has access to but you and I. You can learn and master skills in our therapeutic space, and it won't impact the real world at all because what happens and is heard in here, stays in here. That could look like role-playing a confrontational discussion you might've been avoiding with your roommate or just even saying an insecurity out loud for the first time and reality-checking it. It also just might be practicing how to say 'No' to different people in your life and finally setting boundaries that actually serve you. Then, when you're ready, you take those skills into the real world, and we watch your life change, perhaps slowly, but surely. Therapist shopping can definitely be overwhelming, so I invite you to get to know me through a 10-minute consultation through Zoom. I'll answer any questions, we'll be able to put a face and voice to the name, and you can feel out the overall vibe!
Share your college struggle with me, and I will provide you with a safe space to grow. Privately and at your pace we will explore who you are inside, carefully unpacking what is at the root of every worry, your sadness, anger, or any other uncomfortable experience during this initial foray into adulthood. We will suss out your internal conflicts by exploring your attempts to master problems of the past by repeating patterns in the present, working your known issues toward resolution. No trauma is too great or too small for us to talk about. Our efforts will impart more freedom and equanimity in your choices, and open you up to feel more passionate and alive. I use an active relational psychoanalytic approach to therapeutically make meaning of psychological and emotional difficulties through an ongoing conversation. You simply talk about what is bothering you and free associate to your life. Collaboratively, we will examine how and why your patterns in living, though intelligent adaptations and defenses that once helped you to survive, may no longer serve you, so that you may accept and care for yourself and have a richer, fuller life. Our alliance will help you find balance in work, love and play, and will develop your agency to manage every life challenge with autonomy and self-confidence. Psychoanalysis offers lasting change, and finding just the right therapist for you is essential to the process. Reach out for a free consultation today to see if we make a good fit.
My goal as a therapist is to create a supportive environment for folks to explore their gender and sexuality. Perhaps you identify as queer, bi, lesbian, gay, pan, ace, trans, nonbinary, agender, poly, kinky, something else, all of the above, or nothing at all. You deserve to have a space where you can learn more about the different parts of yourself without judgment or pressure. As a queer person who has sought out therapy myself, I know how challenging it can be to find an affirming therapist. Even if your identity isn’t central to your therapy goals, I will always aim to honor and validate every part of your identity in our work. My therapeutic style is collaborative and anti-oppressive. My approach is integrative, using tools from a variety of therapeutic modalities—relational, CBT, narrative, sex therapy—that are best suited to each unique client. In addition to specializing in identity, I support clients experiencing depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma, and relationship issues. My aim is to co-create a space with you that facilitates growth, emotional awareness, and authentic self-expression. Please reach out if you have any questions about my work or about therapy more generally. I'm glad that you're exploring getting the care you need right now, and I hope that we have the opportunity to connect more soon.
Union Square Cognitive Therapy is a private psychology practice in downtown NYC. Our expert therapists specialize in the cognitive-behavioral treatment of depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, stress management, and body image. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a relatively brief, skills-focused treatment that has been shown to be effective for a wide variety of psychological problems. In CBT, clients work collaboratively with their therapist to address their interconnected thoughts, behaviors, and emotions.
I work with clients on a wide range of issues including anxiety and depression, relational trauma, addiction and co-dependency, attachment, grief, body image, and relationship issues. I prioritize creating a safe and warm therapeutic environment that increases your self-awareness, self-compassion, and connection to your internal wisdom. By working collaboratively together, we can create a tailored approach to address the specific issues that you are currently struggling with. I have experience working with the LGBTQ+ population and trauma survivors (physical, sexual, neglect). I provide integrative treatment approaches that draw from trauma-informed care, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based psychotherapy, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy.
Hi! I offer an approach that is trauma-informed and holistic, and grounded in bodily autonomy, liberation, and anti-racism. I am particularly dedicated to those who have been excluded from mainstream therapeutic spaces. My expertise is with LGBTQIA+ communities; sex workers, poly / ENM, kink / BDSM communities, neurodiverse, disabled / chronically ill communities; and current and former substance users. My approach is informed by my shared identities and experiences with these communities. I work with survivors of Intimate Partner Violence; childhood and adult sexual violence; attachment trauma; hate violence; and police, state, and institutional violence. I offer psychotherapy, EMDR, DBT, IFS, grief counseling, somatic approaches, and harm reduction counseling. All sessions remote. Please feel free to contact me directly to talk about fees and what times are available.
Do you find yourself feeling stuck or with the sense that you are just going through the motions and simply existing? I can help guide you to participate more fully in life and reach your maximum potential. We will work collaboratively to increase self-awareness, identify recurring patterns, and minimize maladaptive behaviors through the use of coping skills and resources at hand. With insight, confidence and tools in hand, you will be better equipped to effectively navigate through various road bumps in life and stop getting in your own way. I'm very collaborative, directive and strengths-based in my work with clients. I work with adults, couples and families to address life challenges related to mood & personality disorders, addiction & dependency-based issues, building positive relationships and cultivating self-worth. I have an eclectic approach, utilizing several different modalities to suit each client's needs, including evidence-based practices where applicable. It is common for ambivalence to be involved when facing any kind of life decision or transition. A CBT, DBT and motivational interviewing approach can allow me to meet a client where they are at and help each individual gage their own level of readiness for change. You've taken a huge step just by seeking out therapy. Now let's go on this journey together!
