Clients who come to my practice are going through life transitions - adjustments to school and moving, relationship concerns, and making life decisions. In addition to traditional therapy practices, I also practice (and teach) ecotherapy - a method of treatment that includes nature in the process. For some people this means we hold our sessions outdoors. For others, we include 'nature prescriptions' in their work outside of the office appointment. These methods are especially helpful for those who love the outdoors, and for clients struggling with depression and anxiety issues.

I primarily work with individuals struggling with compulsive behavior, including sex/porn addiction, codependency, internet/social media addiction, and problem spending/debting. Addiction is meant to make you feel less. It provides temporary numbing for lifelong pain. You feel trapped, depressed, angry, anxious, guilty, and afraid when you can't stop. Recovering from compulsive behavior, though not easy, is possible and has been accomplished many times. But it does require a complete change in beliefs and attitude, along with how to deal with life and its problems. Getting out of your head and taking action is the next indicated step. Having trained at the University of Notre Dame (Ph.D., M.A.), UC Berkeley (APA-accredited internship) and Stanford (post-doctoral fellowship), I bring rigorous scientific expertise into my clinical work with college students.
