Therapists for college students near Portland, OR
I have worked with a large range of college students from all walks of life, and I enjoy working with this population. I find that my practice is most effective for those who are mostly ready to engage deeply with their own needs for growth and change. I work best with students who are expressive and willing to be open about the challenges they are facing. If you are someone who is ready to show up to work on the things that are most important to you, we will be a great match. Together, we will focus on finding your own solutions for living and ways to buff the resilience needed to navigate the unique pressures of campus life, academic stress, and personal transitions. To make support as accessible as possible for busy student schedules, I provide all services via a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. This allows you to engage in meaningful, private sessions from the comfort of your own space, whether you are between classes or at home. Ready to start? I invite you to reach out for an initial consultation to see how we can work together toward your goals.

Starting the therapy process is a sign of strength and vulnerability. I believe that we all have the power to create change in our lives by allowing ourselves to see ourselves and be seen by others in our lives. Together, we will explore the origins of your patterns of thinking/behaving/relating as well as the functions that these patterns serve, assess your barriers to change, identify your strengths and resources, and practice new ways of coping in order to help you live a more satisfying life.
My practice model is all about helping clients explore themselves and their place in the world. As a licensed psychologist with experience working in a variety of care settings, I have expertise in treating depression, anxiety, lifestyle stress, trauma, addiction, and spiritual/existential distress. My therapy takes a nonjudgmental, compassion oriented focus. Through guiding my clients to approach themselves in more open and honest ways, I help them uncover their core needs so that they may lead lives that feel vibrant and fulfilling. I view health as a balance between mind, body, spirit, and environment. As such, my therapy style is holistic. I regularly guide my clients in mindfulness-based practices and offer an approach that blends Internal Family Systems therapy with somatic work and cognitive-behavioral exploration. In a culture where consciousness altering drug use is on the rise, I also work with clients to gain optimal wellness following challenging, disorienting, or invigorating psychedelic experiences. My passion for the Enneagram heavily informs my therapeutic lens, and I happily teach this tool to clients interested in evolving their understanding of self. I work to bolster my clients’ strengths while developing new skills and fresh insights. With sensitivity to the health impact of both personal and cultural forces, I strive to create a safe, welcoming space for my clients to explore all facets of their identities.
Dr. Rademan starts treatment with a thorough and detailed inventory of life experiences that could be contributing to current concerns. She also explores body pain and chronic health concerns as those can be impacted by trauma and emotional wounding. Just like with physical health, mental health can be impacted by earlier 'injuries' that flare up later in life. Many people have been in and out of therapy throughout their life and haven't found sustained relief due to not healing the root issue or concern. At the foundation of treatment, Dr. Rademan utilizes a trauma and cognitive focused framework. Trauma is not only major violence or death, but can also be a loss of a relationship, not getting your needs met when you were a child, or ongoing major stressors. Trauma can be described as anything that significantly changed the way you view yourself or the world.

Developmental trauma (experiences as we grow, including our family of origin) shapes how we see the world, sometimes unsafe and challenging to navigate. Our attachments are the foundations in which we trust or find conflict. Developmental trauma may manifest in the body as anxiety, stress, distress, relationship difficulties, depression and more. There is healing to be found here, to be understood and nourished. Well done on the first step in a journey toward wellness. The most important aspect of therapy is finding a person who makes you feel safe and heard. I look forward to collaborating. I have training and experience in working with trauma, family of origin/generational cycles, attachment disruptions, complicated grief and loss, sexuality, sex work and with LGBTQAI+ persons. I love working through emotions, trauma and somatic experiencing. I am Level I Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy trained. I enjoy working with and understanding folx from their perspective; I work with singles, couples, non-monogamous consensual relationships and families. I provide a safe, unassuming space in which you can find felt safety. I appreciate the eclectic person you are and would like to help you identify your own cracks, so that you can let your own light in. My clients seek me out for many different reasons, including (but not limited to) mood, anxiety, and stress disorders; adjustment difficulties; and relationship and family-of-origin concerns. Sometimes, they just know they're stuck or lost and need help. I use evidence-based approaches (i.e., what we know to be effective with certain concerns) to help clients gain awareness of the interactions between their thoughts, feelings, and behavior; recognize the influences that have shaped these patterns; and develop the knowledge and skills to respond, rather than react, to them. I specialize in working with trauma, anxiety, and disordered eating. To support clients in these areas, I am certified in EMDR, trained in brainspotting, and a level 2-trained Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist. Additionally, I work from a non-dieting, Health At Every Size framework that is affirming of body size diversity. I offer a safe, collaborative space that balances compassion and challenge, within which we can work together to understand the concerns you are experiencing and identify new, more effective ways to meet your needs. If you think I might be a good fit for you, please call, text, or email me to schedule a free, 20-minute phone consultation.

At the core of my being is a genuine and heartfelt desire to help others. I approach clients with unconditional positive regard, creating a space of empathy and safety. As a skilled and compassionate listener, I use my accurate empathic understanding to delve deeply into my clients' subjective experiences. Drawing from a rich array of therapeutic techniques (DBT, Person-Centered Therapy, Self-Acceptance & Self-Compassion, and more) I highly value and appreciate the unique individuality of each client; collaboratively, I work with them to tailor sessions based on their diverse needs. Equipped with a Master's degree in Counseling, I am not only a dedicated practitioner but also hold additional titles of Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional, and ADHD Clinical Services Provider; I love learning and eagerly look forward to incorporating additional trainings to my counseling repertoire. I enthusiastically believe in the inherent capacity of every individual to flourish in life and am committed to assisting my clients in realizing their potential to triumph over any goal they aspire to achieve.
My top goal in therapy is to create a trusted partnership, built on empathy, honest feedback, and adaptive support. I provide a safe space to explore, understand, and work through difficulties. Together we work to expand insight, hone goals, and enact processes that reduce distress and change unwanted patterns. Clinically, I assess wellbeing using Ecological and Biopsychosocial Model perspectives. My work with clients is rooted in Humanistic and Cognitive-Behavioral models, and integrates strategies drawn from other approaches, including ACT, IFS, and MI therapies. However, my approach varies with each person, based on their unique needs, cultural contexts, and current circumstances. I often help clients with concerns related to anxiety, depression, relationships, focus/performance, existence/spirituality, academic/career development, and general well-being. I also frequently provide support for specific concerns, including identity development (cultural/sexual/gender/etc.), processing grief, resolving trauma, and substance use. All of us go through times when we feel overwhelmed or lost, and it's difficult to work through that alone. When looking for a therapist, consider what qualities (e.g., empathy, structure, logic) might help you most at this point. I'm happy to talk with you by phone about what you're looking for, how I work with clients, and any questions you have.
