"Why now?" is a question I often ask at the beginning of therapy. Some people come in the aftermath of a personal or relationship crisis, some seek relief for old pain, others simply feel certain that its time for a change. My work is well-suited for people experiencing anger, grief, compassion fatigue, trauma reactivity, anxiety, depression, patterns of conflict and concerns of purpose and identity. I'm not overwhelmed by strong feelings or complex struggles. Whatever reason you may have to begin therapy, we'll work together to find the heart of the matter and what might help. My process is insight-oriented and collaborative but I'll tell you what I think. Clients have appreciated my warmth, directness and cultural competency. Some have stayed with me for years or returned after long breaks. I've had success connecting with adolescents and people who feel ambivalent about therapy. I'm deeply curious about how each of my clients experiences the world and I'll be glad to meet you. Reach out, and we can see if we might work well together.
My name is Sarah and I am a therapist, coach and community organizer. I specialize in working with activists, organizers and politically left gen individuals who struggle with burnout, overwhelm and balance. You may be struggling with self-doubt, fear about the future and compassion fatigue. I can help with that. I work with individuals who are navigating trauma associated with living under capitalism. During our first few sessions together, we will begin to bridge the gap between your pain and systematic structures that impact you deeply. You'll begin to experience yourself as part of a whole community, not just an individual. Therapy with me will be political, restorative, healing and empowering.

🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈🍉 ✨ LGBTQIA+ Affirming ✨ Anti-Capitalist ✨ Non- Pathologizing 📍Virtual Sessions As a worker-owned therapy cooperative, we are committed to providing quality trauma-sensitive mental health services, rooted in equity, care, and community. We prioritize the well-being of our clients and members while operating as a democratic, inclusive organization, where all voices are valued and decisions are made collectively. As a relational, attachment-based therapist, I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a powerful vehicle for change. As a systemic therapist, I also believe that the systems you’re part of matter, and that your experience can’t be understood outside of those systems. You may have had the experience of “getting” something on a logical level, yet finding that knowledge to be inadequate or insufficient. I believe real change has to be felt, not just rationalized. So I focus on creating a relationship where it’s safe to take relational risks and have new experiences that create change on a deeper level. Within the relationship, the work can take many forms. We may start by looking into your past, as I believe the past is important in understanding the present, and that it’s useful for helping you understand your attachment style and relational patterns. And if you’re one of the many neurodivergent people who have experienced trauma, we can draw on Internal Family Systems/parts work and Emotion-Focused Therapy to help heal your younger self. My goal is to always meet you where you are, and sometimes that might mean taking a more practical, skills-based approach. This could mean developing strategies to manage overwhelm, big emotions, and struggles with organization, time-blindness and prioritization. For example, you may be feeling like you know what you need to do yet still can’t get it done. Here I also draw on my background as an ADHD coach, and use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Internal Family Systems to help you understand the emotions that may be getting in your way, see the different parts that create internal conflicts for you, and change how you relate to these parts.
College is an exciting time though it can be an overwhelming one as well. College comes with its own unique set of challenges - increased workload, the need for greater time management, increased independence, and trying to find a good work-life balance, to name a few. College life can bring on new anxiety or exacerbate pre-existing anxiety, and managing this and coping in healthy and effective ways can prove difficult at times. Anxiety and stress can also trigger new or worsen pre-existing Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs), like Excoriation Disorder (skin picking) and Trichotillomania (hair pulling). If you are a female student struggling with anxiety and need help managing it, and/or are having a difficult time with BFRBs, I would love to work with you. Together we will work on identifying stressors/triggers as well as strategies and skills you can use to better manage your anxiety and/or your BFRB. I look forward to meeting you!
Hi! Thank you for stopping by. If you are in the middle of big life transitions—figuring out who you are, what you want, and how you relate to the people around you- we might be a good fit. College can bring up questions about identity, relationships, and belonging, along with the stress of academics and life changes. Some students feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of themselves, while others want support navigating dating, friendships, family expectations, or exploring different parts of their identity. The students who tend to connect most with my practice are open to reflecting on their experiences, building self-understanding, and developing healthier, more authentic ways of relating to themselves and others. I love to bring in mindfulness and somatic practices into the therapeutic process and so if this sounds like you- definitely reach out! I also do accept some insurances and so feel free to email me with any questions. I cant wait to hear from you!
We all experience times of change, transition, and stress that can affect mood and anxiety. I offer an active, collaborative working relationship grounded in respect, transparency, and a deep desire to help clients heal and grow. Clients have remarked that I am particularly skilled in helping them navigate and grow through life transitions and take responsibility for and develop ways of coping and responding to life stresses that honor their multiple and intersecting identities and values, while also encouraging them to stretch, consider, and apply new perspectives and skills. I have over 25 years of experience as a therapist in a university counseling center and have extensive experience with undergraduate and graduate students. I am committed to helping people create and sustain a satisfying and purposeful life. With the intention of helping them move toward a greater sense of overall well-being, I enjoy working with clients around life transitions, career exploration, identity exploration, managing societally induced stress particularly related to marginalized identities, and those experiencing concerns related to career and work. I have extensive training and experience with mindfulness and integrate that into my therapeutic work. Beyond therapy, I provide Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction courses and mindfulness-based classes for groups. Please contact me to schedule a free, 15-minute phone conversation so we can talk more about what he's looking for, I can explain more about my practice, and we can see if it mutually feels like a good fit to take the next step and schedule an initial meeting.

You want to thrive, to feel like life is moving in a positive direction, that you have a purpose and that you’re no longer cycling through patterns that have only caused you more pain. You’re tired of feeling like you are going around in circles, feeling “stuck” but you're not exactly sure why. Maybe you can’t remember the last time you weren’t feeling anxious, exhausted, or doubting yourself. You’re curious about what a life full of intention, joy, and peace could be like but aren’t sure how to get there. I hear you; it’s time for a change. Clients come to me for compassionate, nonjudgmental support. With a gentle, trauma-informed approach, we’ll uncover your strengths and shift your life/relationships in ways that feel more authentic. You can feel safe to explore the areas in your life that could be better, and I’ll help you develop the mindfulness, awareness and skills you need to get there. As a therapist specializing in trauma modalities such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), I’ll help you feel secure enough to explore the root of any suffering, and capable enough to find the freedom that awaits you on the other side.

I think you will find my approach warm, nonjudgmental, and easy-going.
I believe that at some point in life, everybody needs somebody. None of us are immune to hardship and distress. Really, it is not a matter of "if" but "when." Even though there are natural ebbs and flows, sometimes we need for someone to hear us, hold our pain, validate our experience and model a new way of coping with patterns of thinking and behavior that keep us stuck. For that reason, my passion is to aide in a client’s journey towards self-fulfillment. Through my clinical work, I am committed to supporting and empowering clients in times of distress through warmth, compassion, and challenging them to discover their true selves. I use a variety of systems that takes an integrative approach to help clients develop strategies for generalized anxiety, social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic, phobias, separation anxiety, PANS/PANDAS, tics, hair pulling, skin picking, and trauma. Additionally, I have experience working with selective mutism, survivors of violent and non-violent crimes, and first responder’s mental health.
Psychotherapy that helps to bring about transformation will offer insights into the deeper motivations that lie outside of our conscious awareness in everyday encounters. Circle Counseling seeks to provide, through the therapeutic relationships formed between our clients and counselors, the opportunity for the client to risk new ways of relating and being in the world. Each client comes with unique strengths and unique hurts that, when fully explored, will bring to light new, more healthy ways of thinking, feeling, and acting in the world. The truth about ourselves is sometimes hard to see, hard to understand, and hard to admit, but in therapy these hard realities can be looked at within the safety of a caring, professional relationship. Let the truth set you free in new ways. Deepen your spirit and find new joy. We have 15 therapists ready to provide services.
There isn’t anything more important than your mental health and wellness. We exist with the sole purpose of improving yours. Sometimes being heard and having the support of a therapist can change everything.

Navigating the complexities of being human can be as rewarding as it is complicated. Our journeys are filled with moments that require us to muster resilience, practice self-compassion, and foster hope—even when the path seems unclear.
