Hi, I'm Jillian Varamo, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 12 years of experience dedicated to helping individuals navigate their mental health journeys. I received my Master's in Social Work from New York University in 2013. I specialize in the management of anxiety, depression, women's issues, life transitions, and self betterment. Based in Delaware and Pennsylvania, I use a cognitive behavioral therapy approach to empower my clients to make meaningful changes in their lives, but I'm not here to throw around therapeutic buzzwords. My priority is to maintain a genuine and authentic connection with you. My role is to create supportive environment where you can openly express yourself and begin to shift your perspective. I believe that how we think has a profound impact on how we feel and behave. Together, we can explore these connections and work toward achieving the positive changes you desire for your mental well-being. I understand that starting the process can feel intimidating, especially when you may be at your most vulnerable. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, or simply seeking to enhance your overall well-being, I am here to guide you through the challenges and celebrate your progress. Let's work together to uncover the tools you need to improve your mental wellness and live a fulfilling life.

I have over 20 years of experience in mental health and has worked in a variety of settings including community mental health, school based therapy, higher education and independent practice. In addition to trauma informed practices, I have training in the following areas: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Art and Play Therapy techniques, Mindfulness, Tele-Health Practices, Family Systems and Attachment Theory. I have experience with the following clinical concerns: stress management, depression, anxiety, mood regulation, social anxiety, relationship and family distress, attention and motivation challenges, self-esteem, perfectionism, and grief. I have a particular passion for helping individuals develop healthy boundaries and heal from toxic relationships.

As a trauma-informed, bilingual psychotherapist, I am dedicated to facilitating clients' personal healing. I assist individuals in overcoming patterns of recurring memories, maladaptive behaviors, and negative self-perceptions related to themselves, others, and their environment. My objective is to help clients cultivate ambition, a growth-oriented mindset, and sustained commitment to achieving positive change. Our work will commence by examining the formative messages that shape identity, as well as those imposed by one's surroundings, which may lead to feelings of disconnection from oneself.

“Of course it is exhausting, having to reason all the time in a universe which wasn't meant to be reasonable.” ― Kurt Vonnegut, Breakfast of Champions Hello! Thank you for taking some time to get to know me. As a social worker and therapist, I'm passionate about helping individuals find their path to well-being. Hi, I’m Tori — a therapist, theatre-maker, sourdough enthusiast, and firm believer that we’re all just doing our best to make sense of being human. My work is for anyone who’s ever thought, “Am I the drama?” — and then realized, maybe, a little. I love working with women, queer folks, and anyone who doesn’t quite fit into the neat boxes the world tends to hand out. My special heart-space is for college-aged and younger women trying to navigate identity, independence, relationships, and the wild, weird in-between of figuring it all out. Before becoming a therapist, I spent years in the theatre — helping people tell their stories, find their voices, and sit in the beautiful chaos of being seen. That same creative spirit is what guides me in therapy. Together, we’ll look at what’s working, what’s not, and gently (or not-so-gently) challenge the stories that keep you stuck. My background is in trauma and crisis work, with training in CBT, narrative therapy, and evidence-based approaches — but the heart of my work is connection. I want you to feel like you can show up as your whole self here — messy, brilliant, funny, heartbroken, healing, or all of the above. When I’m not in session, I’m usually baking bread, playing with my dogs, or daydreaming about planting too many flowers in my (slightly shady) backyard garden. Therapy with me isn’t about being “fixed” — it’s about being found.

I welcome the opportunity to work with students seeking support. In addition to talking, I use a range of expressive methods to assist with personal growth and healing, including imagery, writing, drama, and movement. Together, we will develop goals and a treatment plan to help you become the best version of yourself.

I have been a therapist for over 30 years and have focused my work around helping clients develop healthy, satisfying relationships. I find that the people I see feel isolated, disappointed, and fearful of connecting with others. My approach is psychodynamic meaning that I see current concerns as a function of past relationships with significant people in one's life.

At Terra Firma, our mission is also our greatest passion: to help you recognize how awesome you really are, and that you’re capable of anything you put your mind to! We want to help you evolve into the version of you who feels seen, heard, and understood; the one who feels confident, happy, and whole. We know that there are times where it feels like there’s absolutely no way that’s ever going to happen, because you’re just not the kind of person who’s capable of feeling better. But you absolutely can and we're here to help you get there! What makes our practice a little different is that we approach each client with the understanding that people do not fit neatly inside little boxes. Your relationships, career, hobbies, diet and exercise, spiritual beliefs, etc. etc. are all interacting to create the current version of you. In our holistic therapy approach, we shirk the mindset that you are a narrow range of symptoms to be treated, and instead look at you as a whole person. Our approach is built on empathy and compassion, and is designed to arm you with the wellness tools needed to help you tackle the various battles you may be facing along your holistic journey to happiness.

Current openings for new clients are available as of 9/1/2021. Throughout our lives, experiences we have can lead us to feel disconnected in various ways, from our own sense of self and values, important people in our life, and our emotions. This disconnection can result in feelings of loneliness and isolation, lack of motivation, overwhelming anxiety, or uncertainty about who we are and what we want in life and it often leads to unhealthy ways of coping (e.g., emotional eating, focusing too much on work, lack of self-care, etc.). My focus in working with clients is to help them reconnect with themselves, with others, and with their emotions so that they can lead a more satisfying life filled with meaningful relationships and purpose. My approach to therapy is primarily rooted in a modern psychodynamic orientation. As such, I value the development of a strong therapeutic relationship and meaningful connection with clients. Together, we work on understanding unhealthy patterns and improve ability to cope with distress, manage multiple life roles, live a more balanced life, and connect more fully with emotions. I am especially passionate about working with college-aged students and athletes who may be experiencing eating and/or body image concerns, as well as issues related to men and masculinity. . I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Penn State University and completed my internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at Penn State University.
