Reach out if you have experienced a loss or difficult transition if you are struggling to set boundaries or express your needs, if you are struggling with difficult emotions or if you just aren’t feeling like yourself. It is our goal to support you in exploring your experiences, releasing things that you may have been carrying, setting goals you want to achieve, and identifying patterns and beliefs that are creating barriers. Our role as therapists is to provide a safe, judgment-free, and confidential space for you to process vulnerable thoughts and emotions. Our approach is person-centered and focuses on building a supportive relationship while using cognitive behavioral theory as a framework. We specialize in trauma therapy and work with individuals experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress. Some of the modalities used include EMDR, Trauma-Focused CBT, and Cognitive Processing Therapy. Let us help you to know and be present with yourself.

I truly believe that everyone has the capacity to grow when they’re in a space that feels safe and accepting. At the heart of my work is building a genuine, trusting connection with you—because real healing begins when you feel truly seen, heard, understood, and accepted. Together, we’ll create a warm and welcoming space where vulnerability is embraced and self-exploration feels comfortable. Above all, I’m here to hold space for you with kindness and openness, honoring your unique needs, passions, experiences, wisdom, and hopes for the future. Specializations I’m especially passionate about supporting adults who grew up with caregivers who, for various reasons, may not have met their emotional needs.Together, we work to heal from those early experiences, find your true voice, clarify what matters most to you, and create a life that feels authentic, grounded, and free. I work with clients ages 15 and up to navigate challenges related to: Childhood relational trauma, emotionally immature parents, & unmet emotional needs Relationship patterns, boundaries, people-pleasing, & guilt Exploring identity, values, & personal growth Identity diffusion & enmeshment Shame, self-doubt, & indecisiveness Life transitions & emerging adulthood Grief & loss Anxiety, depression, & low self-worth Emotional regulation & distress tolerance Could We be a Good Fit? Clients who tend to do well with me often appreciate a little lightheartedness or humor during our sessions and enjoy putting what we talk about into practice between meetings—sometimes through small homework or weekly goals. Many have found it helpful to bring their creative interests into our work, which helps us build a space where you can feel safe, inspired, and free to be your authentic self. I’ve also noticed that adolescents, young adults, and college students often feel especially comfortable and connected in our time together. Therapeutic Approaches My approach to therapy is primarily rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Together, we’ll explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors with curiosity and work toward making the changes you’d like to see in yourself. For those who resonate with this approach, I incorporate Internal Family Systems (IFS) to support compassionate exploration of your inner parts. I also use a person-centered and trauma-informed lens, honoring the impact of your life experiences and creating a space where all parts of you are welcome. While CBT and IFS are my go-to methods, I like to keep things flexible, drawing from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to tailor our work to what feels right for you. My hope is that you find a space in therapy that feels human, welcoming, and uniquely yours. If you think we might be a good fit, I’d love to connect and explore how we can work together in a way that supports your growth. I currently offer teletherapy sessions at River Wards Wellness Collective. 🌟 Embodied Hope For Your Journey to Healing and Growth 🌟 Dealing with trauma can be really tough, whether it's from a specific event or something that's been with you for a long time. It can affect so many parts of your life, from your mental health to your relationships to your sleep. Doing it all while keeping up with classes? That's exhausting. It helps to have someone who knows trauma work and can support you while you gauge how to pace your healing process. I provide therapy for many different types of trauma: emotional neglect, abuse, combat, complex PTSD, intimate partner violence, sexual assault/harassment, bullying, accidents, medical illness, pregnancy/birth, and toxic relationships. I'm experienced in gold standard therapies for trauma, nightmares, insomnia, anxiety, and OCD. It's important to me to help people to understand and work with - not in spite of - their nervous system. I've been through a lot of different experiences in my career, working in hospital and outpatient settings. Real progress comes from having a place where our nervous system can gradually rebuild a sense of safety, grow in flexibility, and practice new learning. My goal is to make therapy that kind of a place. I believe in using therapy strategies that are proven to be effective, but that doesn't mean sessions have to be rigid or boring. Depending on the client, I'll pull in painting, novels and movies, music, Minecraft, sports, and comedians. I'm also always learning and growing as a therapist to make sure you're getting the best care possible. Although therapy progress isn't always a straight line, learning new skills and ways of thinking almost always has ups and downs. That's completely normal. It's totally understandable if you wish you could feel better right away. I'll do my best to create a fluid plan, tailored just for you, to help you head in that direction. You don't have to be alone. Someone I value once told me that sometimes we carry hope for others until they're ready to pick it back up themselves. Let me know if you'd like to talk about what that might look like for you to be ready to carry your own hope again.

"Do you want to simply "survive" in life, or do you want to "thrive" in life? Unfortunately many of us are simply surviving. With over two decades in the field of human services I, along with my dedicated staff have created a space coupled with highly effective treatment approaches to help you to live again! We offer services to those who need to heal from: depression, anxiety, family conflict, life transitions, trauma, and grief and loss. When we rid our lives of these "toxins", we make room to begin a life journey that we never thought was possible! My commitment is to work with individuals by helping them live to their fullest potential by way of providing support, encouragement and empowerment. My work is strength based in order to build a solid treatment foundation. (i.e. Instead of what's "wrong" with you, what's "right" with you?) A Journey to You offers a space that is conveniently located, has plenty of free parking, and is wheelchair accessible. The environment is quiet, comfortable and tastefully decorated, providing a place where individuals can feel a level of safety and contentment in which to work.

Hello, I'm Rebecca Taylor, Psy.D., a Licensed Psychologist in private practice in Pittsburgh and providing services across Pennsylvania. I have over 15 years of experience working with students at the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon, Duquesne, and Purdue University. I enjoy working with graduate and non-traditional students who: ~ are going through life transitions, like starting graduate school or preparing for what comes after graduation ~ want support for decision-making around career/academic focus ~ want to figure out how to have healthy, satisfying relationships with family, friends, and/or a partner ~ are interested in interfaith/interracial dialog, the acculturation process, and multicultural concerns ~ cope with a health problem, disability, or a body-focused repetitive behavior (like skin picking, hair pulling, or other BFRB) ~ are learning intuitive eating and ways to care for their physical body ~ want support for grief and loss ~ feel anxious, depressed, or stressed out ~ have panic and/or anxiety symptoms Together, we’ll explore what matters to you the most and address your concerns. In this process, you can decide if and what changes you want to make. And you can do it at a pace and in ways that fit you best. My clients describe me as warm, respectful, and able to tailor therapy to their unique circumstances. My relationship centered integrated approach combines: ~ Humanistic/Person-Centered ~ Gestalt, Mindfulness, and Mind-Body ~ Experiential and Expressive Therapies ~ Empirically-Supported/Research-Based Treatments ~ CBT--Cognitive Behavior Therapy ~ DBT--Dialectical Behavior Therapy ~ ComB--Comprehensive Behavior Therapy and Habit Rehearsal Training for body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs) ~ EMDR--Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ~ Other approaches as indicated, like motivational interviewing and the transtheoretical approach to change. One of the things that characterizes my work as a psychologist is that I am also a National Board Certified Occupational Therapist (OTR). I know first-hand what it takes to go back to school and change careers. After studying and working as an occupational therapist for several years, I decided to expand my skills and expertise by becoming a psychologist. My varied professional experiences share some commonalities and have allowed me to develop my interest in listening, understanding people, being present and mindful, seeing people from a holistic perspective, and exploring what gives meaning to life. While I don’t know the specific challenges you are facing, I know first-hand some of the pressures that face graduate students, traditional, and non-traditional students. I’d be curious to hear what you are facing. I would like to offer you a free phone consultation so that we can determine if we are a good therapeutic match. You can contact me by phone or email to set up a time to speak. I make every effort to protect your privacy. Therefore, please let me know if I can identify myself as “Rebecca” and if it is okay to leave a voicemail if necessary.

Open Space Counseling, Consulting & Wellness is a LGBTQIA+, racial and relationship minority affirming practice. Our mission is to eliminate fear of judgement as a barrier to personal growth. You’re likely here because your life isn’t quite where you’d like it to be. You’re struggling with relationships, or finding yourself reliving old patterns that are causing you pain. You’re sick of feeling so isolated, depressed, disconnected, and frustrated when everyone else on Instagram seems so much happier and more successful. Maybe you’ve been trying to solve these problems on your own for a long time, yet still feeling stuck in the same old rut. You might be contemplating a big transition. You might really need space to talk through all the jumbled up thoughts and feelings inside. Maybe it'd be helpful to share the self-critical thoughts ("I am broken;" "I'm a failure;" "I have nothing to offer;" "I can't change;" "If I make changes, everyone will hate me"), so that we can look at them together, and notice that they aren't you. I am experienced in providing supportive counseling to folks across the lifespan, in and around the gender binary, and at all stages of “acuity.” In light of my experience, I am a staunch believer in the philosophy that all people have the resources inside themselves to make changes toward becoming ever more healthy, connected, and complex. The focus of my approach is self-acceptance. This means that I'm not going to push you to talk about things you're not ready to talk about yet, or offer much in the way of advice or homework. Instead, we'll make space for you to examine your process toward making the changes you want for your life. I am a gender affirming therapist specializing in trans and nonbinary wellness. Since 2013, I have co-authored several letters of recommendation for medical gender confirmation, and am familiar with that process. I also know that many people aren’t seeking physical changes as a part of their journey. In 2021, I obtained WPATH certification, which rewards those committed to staying on top of both the current evidence and consensus in the field through continuing education. It is the gold standard of trans-specific healthcare certification.
