Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. My name is Megan. I am a therapist-in-training at SolHealth and am excited to begin working together! I would like to take a moment to introduce myself and share a bit about what you can expect as we begin sessions together. I am a first-year master’s degree student in the Mental Health Counseling program at City College of New York. I received an interdisciplinary degree in Science, Technology, and Society where I focused on Psychology, Sociology, and Cultural Studies at Farmingdale State College. I have previously interned in schools where I worked with populations experiencing anxiety and difficulties with life transitions. I also worked as an ABA therapist where I specialized in working with clients with developmental disabilities. My primary modalities of therapy are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Adlerian Therapy. My therapeutic approach incorporates: mindfulness exercises to help with stress management, reducing stress and anxiety, overcoming depression, developing self-compassion, and creating a meaningful life for yourself. I believe in exploring an individual’s past and present while empowering them in a safe, non-judgmental, and collaborative space. Megan Pinzel is a therapist-in-training at Sol Health. Sol Health is a digital health startup that offers $30 therapy to Gen Zs by connecting them with therapists-in-training accruing clinical hours. I am a compassionate therapist committed to guiding AAPI and BIPOC women through the challenges rooted in cultural values, family conflicts, anxiety, depression, exploring intersectionality, and intergenerational trauma. As a South Asian American, I bring a culturally sensitive approach that fosters a connection with my clients. As a therapist, I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to support individuals in processing and overcoming the impact of traumatic experiences. Trauma is not always the byproduct of significant life altering events but can occur from small events like chronic stress, bullying, discrimination, dysfunctional family dynamics, microaggression, and constant exposure to challenging situations. EMDR involves a structured approach, helping clients identify and reframe/reprocess negative beliefs and emotions associated with past traumas. I also utilize therapeutic frameworks as Humanistic Person-Centered approach, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Strengths Based approach. I will be someone who listens, assists you to identify your goals, and empowers you along the therapeutic process. I will provide you with a non-judgmental, confidential safe space for you to express all you wish to share.
Whether you are struggling with past or recent trauma, anger, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, relationship concerns or marital issues, it is important that you know you do not have to be alone in this journey. You deserve someone who will listen intently, understand fully, and provide an open, supportive, and non-judgmental space to rebuild through. No problem is too great to overcome if you are willing to do the work. Therapy helps you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships, become free of old patterns, or simply find ways to process pain or memories that have kept you feeling stuck. It is a healing process that allows you to not only start feeling better but gain insight, awareness, and ultimately begin trusting your intuition and experience. Relationships are as capable of hurt and pain as they are for healing. At Clear Direction Psychological Services, you will learn with the support, expertise, knowledge and guidance of your psychologist how to better relate to and understand your experiences, thoughts, feelings, behaviors, relationships, and challenges. You will learn how to regulate the full spectrum of emotions, find balance in your life, and create meaningful, loving and supportive relationships with yourself and others. You will learn how to make healthier and wiser choices and find fulfillment in your day-to-day living. Clear Direction Psychological Services is a small, specialty practice located on Long Island, New York. Dr. Smyth is a dedicated psychologist whose work is much more than "a job." Those who enter are cared for like family; psychotherapy is Dr. Smyth’s passion, craft, and life's work. Dr. Smyth understands no two individuals are the same. She will work with you to understand the root cause of your struggles and address those issues with long-lasting strategies, helping you get closer to the life you have always wanted. Dr. Smyth has the experience to help you achieve your goals, overcome struggles, and learn to live a life in line with your core values. She is an active psychologist whose work is aimed at providing growth, relief, and healing for those that enter her practice. It takes great courage to ask for help, and that is where change begins. You deserve to have a more fulfilling and meaningful life and Dr. Smyth is dedicated to helping you. She looks forward to getting to know you, understanding your unique challenges, and meeting you exactly where you are. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions you might have, especially if this is your first glance at therapy. There is no such thing as a bad question and no shame in looking for help.

My passion in counseling centers around helping clients heal from past trauma, while facilitating the rewiring of their nervous systems. I focus on supporting their journey toward feeling open to connection and personal growth. I would be honored to work with you and help you find the path that's going to help you make peace with the past, and write a new story moving forward. A story where you can be your own beacon of safety for yourself and for others. Healing from past traumatic experiences is possible, I've seen it for myself, and I fully believe it's possible for you as well. With a BA in Nursing in addition to my MA in counseling, my nursing background greatly influences my approach to counseling. I try to educate my clients on how the brain and how our nervous system works as much as possible, so that my clients can leave each session feeling empowered to work with their nervous system, and not against it. Together we can create the right goals, with the right timeline, that equip and empower you to see your beautiful self in a whole new light, with a sense of agency, and hope for your future. I encourage you to reach out for a free 30 minute consultation to see if we would be a good fit for each other, hope to hear from you soon!

It can be difficult to know who to trust with the things you're going through. Therapy offers you a confidential, comfortable place to talk about the things in your life that are hard to share with others. Together, we can uncover your strengths and use them to create a plan to give you relief from the uncomfortable place you're in today.

I believe therapy is a space for growth and change that can lead to stronger relationships, healthier ways of functioning, and a deeper sense of well-being. In our work together, I’ll bring empathy, respect, and genuine care. My role is to support you in becoming more self-aware and confident, while helping you make the changes you want to see in your life. To me, therapy is a collaborative process. I’m not here to "fix" you, but to walk alongside you as a guide, a support, and sometimes just a steady presence while you navigate life’s challenges. I truly believe that everyone has the ability to grow and the responsibility to pursue that growth when they’re ready. I also believe our relationships with family, partners, friends, or chosen community play a huge role in our overall well-being. When those connections feel off or strained, it can affect so many other areas of life. Whether we're working one-on-one, with a couple, or with a family, I take a systemic approach to understand the bigger picture and help shift patterns that may be keeping you stuck. And I know that therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. We’ll work together to find what feels right for you. Most importantly, I’ll offer a space where you feel safe, supported, and truly heard. Great to meet you! As a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor with over 8 years of experience, I am passionate about helping women heal and grow through a holistic, personalized approach. My work integrates experiential techniques, somatic practices, and trauma-informed therapy to help you connect with your mind and body on a deeper level. I specialize in supporting individuals through trauma recovery, utilizing a compassionate and tailored approach that honors each person's unique experience. One of the unique services I offer is Walk & Talk therapy, where we take our sessions outdoors at local parks. This relaxed, natural setting fosters openness and can lead to fresh insights as we talk and move together. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working in diverse settings, including residential treatment centers, crisis intervention in hospitals, and providing bilingual services to unaccompanied minors. My background also includes providing inpatient mental health counseling, and I hold certification as a Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (TF-CBT), specializing in trauma-informed care for children and families affected by abuse and neglect. With my extensive experience and deep commitment to healing, I’m here to help you on your journey toward transformation and personal growth. A bit about my approach to therapy My work is focused on creating a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental space where clients can explore their emotions, gain self-awareness, and develop practical tools for navigating life’s challenges. Through an integrative approach, I help individuals build resilience, improve emotional regulation, and gain new insights into their personal growth journey. Whether addressing anxiety, stress, or life transitions, I am committed to helping clients find balance and empowerment through therapy that combines both experiential and evidence-based techniques. What you can expect from our first session In our first session, you'll experience a safe and supportive space where we can begin exploring your challenges and goals. I'll provide an overview of how therapy works and the techniques we’ll use, including experiential approaches alongside traditional methods. You'll leave with a clearer sense of direction, a better understanding of how we can collaborate to address your needs, and a feeling of trust and empowerment as we begin this journey together.
My practice currently supports children, teens, adolescents, and adults. My primary focus is teens and young adults who struggle with anxiety, ADHD, and generational/familial trauma.
Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to figure things out alone — I’m here to support you. I’ve been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2016 and work with teens, college students, and adults, with a primary focus on ages 18–60+. I support people with concerns like anxiety, depression, stress, relationships, self-esteem, burnout, and big life transitions. My goal is to create a calm, supportive, and judgment-free space where you can talk openly about what’s really going on and learn healthier ways to handle life’s challenges. I especially enjoy working with students who are juggling academic pressure, perfectionism, relationship stress, identity questions, and the feeling of being overwhelmed. Therapy with me is collaborative and practical. We focus on what you want to work on and what will actually help in your day-to-day life. I like to give you tools, insight, and strategies you can use outside of session, not just talk about problems. I’ll meet you where you are, support you, and gently challenge you when it helps you grow. We focus mostly on the present and future, and we explore the past when it’s useful for your healing. My hope is that you leave sessions feeling more grounded, confident, and capable of handling whatever comes next.

Welcome! My name is "Dr. Ed." I'm a Ph.D.-Diplomate in Clinical Social Work from the University of Houston and Governors State. In our multicultural world, therapy is a safe place to respect your values and honor your strengths! √ I'm 4.6 rated with 60+ reviews on HealthGrades, United Health, Aetna and Cigna. My treatment philosophy is built on respect and appreciation of the dignity for each person I work with. Let me emphasize this one more time, YOU don't have to settle for a poor self-image from negative experiences nor settle with poor relationships with your family, spouse, kids and yourself. Let's figure it out..together.. My therapy specialty is working with adults, couples, families, and pre-teens who are dealing with feelings of rejection, grief, and situation anxiousness-including balancing family and work-life stressors. I greatly appreciate listening to the adult male voice in relationships and families. Learning ways to bridge the gap in communication styles between men and women, parents and children, is important work! Prior to becoming a therapist, I was a core faculty member for nine years at Capella University-graduate and doctoral programs in Social Work and Public Service Leadership. Outside of work, Dr. Ed enjoys traveling to Barbados, Cancun, Houston Rodeo, is active in the KAY fraternity, and is an Astros and Cubs fan.
