I currently have immediate openings for teletherapy and I also offer walk-and-talk sessions at the San Jose Rose Garden. I am licensed in both California and Texas. I have more than ten years of experience working with adolescents and young adults. I most frequently help my college-aged clients navigate the challenges of anxiety, depression, ADHD, executive dysfunction, giftedness, self-esteem and body image issues, relationships, grief, disordered eating, and trauma. I specialize in, and especially enjoy working with, ADHD, gifted persons, and college-aged young adults. As a private practice clinician since 2012, I take an affective, strengths based, approach to therapy. I practice cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems therapy, trauma-informed care, dialectical behavioral therapy, and mindfulness. I work with individuals and families, and I facilitate an LGBTQ+ inclusive group for college-aged young women and non-binary persons. My style of therapy is centered, relaxed, and collaborative. It is vital to my practice that clients know they are talking to a real human being, and my client-therapist relationships are built on mutual trust and safety. I believe that mental healthcare should be holistic. To get at the whole person, I like to explore the interplay between movement, nutrition, sleep, and time spent in nature. And because mental health impacts so much of our lives, I often advocate for my clients and help coordinate support with other academic and healthcare professionals. I strongly believe that mental healthcare should be accessible and easy to navigate for everyone. I welcome clients from all communities, backgrounds, and walks of life. Outside of my home office, I am an avid hiker and eater of takeout. I’m learning to surf, and my favorite part of every day is spending time with my sixteen-year-old wiener dog.

I have been practicing for over 20 years primarily with veterans, service members, and their families and I have been an Army wife who dealt with deployment and transitions. I am experienced working with women's health issues to include infertility and pregnancy loss. Change and lack of control in situations is hard. I have a passion for helping people manage life's curve balls and challenges and I hope you give me the opportunity to help you!
I love clients who are curious about themselves and their relationships and are just looking for a safe place to talk. I bring much the same warmth, humor, and energy to my work that I do to my friendships. I'll remember your birthday and the name of the pet you had growing up, and the fact that you were anxious about that text you got last week. If you're anxious about therapy, or have had a bad experience in the past, that's a great place to start, and if you're ready to dive in, we can do that too.

My main areas of focus include: -Women’s mental health -Self-compassion and self-esteem -Anxiety and perfectionism -Depression and burnout -Relational trauma -LGBTQ+ mental health with a particular expertise in bi+ affirming care -Support for loved ones of people with substance use disorders -Support for adult children of emotionally immature parents I utilize a variety of evidence based techniques and therapeutic styles to help my clients get unstuck and feel better including: -Psychodynamic therapy -Somatic techniques -Parts work -Emotion-focused therapy -DBT skill building -Trauma-informed therapy -Mindful self-compassion The above list can be fit into this nutshell: I bring authenticity (personality, humor, and humanness) into my work and enjoy helping folks like you get curious about who they are, what they need, and how they cope. My style of therapy is a mix of focusing on the present moment (what you think, feel, and need during session), getting curious about the past (how your experiences impact you now), and building new skills to get you where you want to be. It’s time to build a loving relationship with yourself. Here’s the good news: you don’t have to do this on your own. Contact me today to get started!

Have been looking for love in all the wrong places? Maybe you are super tired of swiping right but only ending up hurt. Is your anxiety at an all time high? Do you find it hard to concentrate on the things you have to do or find yourself reading the same line over and over again. What about that voice in your head? The one that says you are never good enough. You keep trying to shut it up by performing, being perfect, and overachieving but nothing seems to work. You try and make everyone happy by never saying no, but you are just left holding the bag, feeling resentful. What if I told you, that you could stop hustling. That you are worthy of love and belonging, right now, as is. I know you call BS but that is your past tricking you into believing you aren't. You can put down the mask. You can learn to say no. You can feel safe in relationships. Instead of feeling empty, you can feel alive. Hell, maybe even some joy. I love working with young people who want to stop being so hard on themselves, want to stop hustling for love in all the wrong places, stop surviving on little sleep, Cheetos, and weed to being able to have healthy relationships while saying no, taking actual care of themselves, and know they are worthy. Sharing your story and asking for help can feel scary, and that's okay! You may feel overwhelmed, discouraged, or lost in connecting to your authentic self. I am here to listen. Are feelings of guilt and shame making it hard to forgive yourself? Or has difficulty finding motivation or a life transition left you at a loss of control over your environment? Maybe unsaid expectations about how you "should" look or feel left you exhausted? Perhaps fear and anxiety are holding you back, making you feel stuck. If so, I am here to help and provide a safe, non-judgmental space for you to heal. I specialize in working with women suffering from depression, shame, anxiety, ADHD, and insecurity. In addition to these specialties, I also have extensive experience working with individuals struggling with religious shame and related emotional concerns. I believe asking for help is one of the bravest things a person can do. In my sessions, I foster an authentic environment that allows my clients to feel heard, empowered, and celebrated. I want my clients to feel a sense of belonging and purpose in sharing their unique story. I appreciate the opportunity to listen and partner with in your healing journey.
I attempt to gather information in an easy manner, not "drilling" questions so people can feel comfortable sharing. I inquire whether previous counseling has been attempted to understand prior experiences with therapy and how it was helpful or not. I am a hopeful, positive person and try to help others find their strengths, positivity and hope within them as well. I will ask what goals a client has for themselves for therapy and life so we can focus on achieving those goals. As an experienced therapist, I recognize that people have had difficulty in their lives and do not diminish their story or not discuss the "hard parts" while we try to find ways to heal.
Entering adulthood isn't quite like you expected it to be. Yeah, you get more freedom, but you also get the added responsibility of being "the" adult. You find yourself more anxious and experiencing these different emotions that leave you feeling burdened and overwhelmed. You've tried several ways to cope, but those only offered a temporary solution. And if we're honest, they weren't the healthiest ways to cope. Managing your day-to-day life has become even more difficult, and you realize you can't go on like this much longer. As a marriage and family therapist- associate, I am skilled at helping individuals and couples live a healthy and more sustainable life. I fully understand the challenges that come with college life and am here to help. Through our time together, you’ll learn healthy and effective skills to cope, identify how to name and manage troubling emotions, replace irrational thoughts with realistic and empowering ones, and engage more positively with those around you. College years don't t have to be something that you heal from as an adult. I can help you find balance and healing now.
