Hey there! If you're a college student dealing with anxiety, depression, or any other struggles, know that you're not alone. As a therapist with 20 years of experience, 15 of which have been spent working directly with clients like you, I've seen a lot of what you're going through. College can be a tough time, filled with transitions, family conflicts, and the weight of expectations. But guess what? It's okay to not be okay sometimes. It's normal to feel overwhelmed by job anxiety, financial stress, or the pressure to keep up appearances on social media. That's where therapy comes in. By talking things out with someone who understands and supports you, you can start to feel better. Together, we can work on building your confidence, improving your relationships, and finding healthier ways to cope with whatever life throws your way. So if you're ready to take your life and your goals to the next level, why not give therapy a shot? It could be the best decision you make for yourself. And remember, reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. I'm here for you whenever you're ready to talk. Take care, Kathryn

I work with young people who are navigating life and its many challenges. I specialize in trauma treatment and in working with difficult and complex situations wherein trauma, development, and mental health converge. My clients tend to have tried counseling and, for various reasons, feel it did not work for them. My clients are often struggling to show up in traditional therapy, feeling trapped in their suffering, frozen and unable to move. I work with them to find personal power and agency over their dissociative tendencies, to find healing and purpose again. I believe everyone can heal in relationship, especially young people.

College-age young adults experience their own unique challenges. In a time of new independence and exploration, there can be a lot of pressure and expectations on young adults to have their lives “figured out”. You may experience difficulties adjusting to a new environment and the challenges that come with that, such as moving away from home, managing your college course load, making friends, etc. Young adulthood also brings about new responsibilities related to school, work/career, and finances, like maintaining your own schedule and paying bills. Many of the college students I work with are dealing with issues such as anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties, relationship issues, stress management, among other challenges. I provide young adult clients with the space to process and unpack their challenges, establish a trustworthy therapeutic relationship, and support them in building up their ability to cope with stress, understand their emotions, and meet their needs.

Hi, I'm Dr G. You're likely here because you're feeling alone, stuck, hurting, or overwhelmed...I get it. My niche is working with the unique mental health concerns that affect marginalized/minoritized, first generation/immigrant, LGBTQ, non-traditional, and migrant college student populations. I am one of the leading experts in pre-surgical psychological evaluations. I have authored a book titled "Psychological Assessment of Surgical Candidates: Evidence-Based Procedures and Practices" and actively engage in society work associated with the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery to advance training and science related to bariatric surgery. My clinical training experiences have largely centered around assessing the intersections of medical/health, psychological, and social aspects of individuals to facilitate successful outcomes in medical settings. With training from some of the leading experts in psychological assessment, I am also proficient in conducting disability/worker's compensation evaluations, pre-employment screening, and general psychodiagnostic evaluations in addition to pre-surgical assessments. I am licensed in the state of Texas (#38086) and hold a PsyPact license to practice in other states. My research focuses on understanding how psychological factors contribute to medical outcomes. I have over 60 peer-reviewed publications, primarily focused on pre-surgical psychological evaluations and their predictive value for various outcomes. I use my research findings to assist patients in managing risk factors before and after surgery to optimize their outcomes. Additionally, I have a keen interest in psychological assessment, particularly in the use and study of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) in both research and practice. I have been recognized by several national organizations with early-career research awards for my contributions to pre-surgical psychological evaluations. Currently, I am the Principal Investigator on novel psychological interventions for Type 2 Diabetes. I also serve as an Associate Editor for two esteemed journals in the field – Psychological Assessment and Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases.
