This space is yours—a place where we can talk openly, without judgment, and work together to understand what’s going on and how to move forward in a way that feels right for you. In our first few sessions, we’ll get to know each other. I’ll ask some questions to learn about your background and goals, and you can ask me anything about how I work or what to expect from therapy. There's no pressure to share everything all at once—this is your process, and we’ll go at your pace. My goal is to help you feel safe, heard, and supported.
Hi, I provide therapy for community builders, leaders and dreamers looking to make a positive impact in society from non-profit directors to public service staff and even the youngest leaders. I work with adults and kids ages 10 and up and anyone who would consider themselves invested in their community and looking to make the world a brighter place. Each one of us has our own approach to activism and our own challenges. We can work through those, so you can stay in action and keep making progress and also rest when needed and recharge. My approach is warm and holistic. Each one has our own approach to activism and challenges, too. Together we can find a balance. With over 20 years in community organizing and leadership, I understand that your service work is important, that to be heard is to heal, to recognize is to solve and that we all have the power to change lives. I believe healing is contagious: when one person begins to thrive, it ripples outward, touching relationships, communities and the world. Your journey is just as important as everyone else's and you deserve a space to recognize that, reflect on solutions and make a plans for greater happiness. I invite you to reach out and let's begin on the road.

Hello! I’m Dr. Harriet Singelyn (she/her) and I provide trauma-informed online therapy to women in Texas who are looking to manage their anxiety, depression, perfectionism, and burnout. You are someone with a big heart who often puts others’ needs before your own. You feel connected to, but often overwhelmed by, your emotional experiences. You pay close attention to mood shifts in your environment, and feel pressure to keep the peace. You are a “people pleaser” who struggles to set boundaries with yourself and others. You feel anxious in relationships and often worry about how you are perceived. You are a perfectionist and hold yourself to a high standard, but when your expectations are unmet, you blame yourself. You feel burned out or even depressed, and no matter how hard you work, you feel like you’re not good enough. If any of the above sounds familiar to you, then we may be a good fit! My main areas of focus include: -Women’s mental health -Self-compassion and self-esteem -Anxiety and perfectionism -Depression and burnout -Relational trauma -LGBTQ+ mental health with a particular expertise in bi+ affirming care -Support for loved ones of people with substance use disorders -Support for adult children of emotionally immature parents I utilize a variety of evidence based techniques and therapeutic styles to help my clients get unstuck and feel better including: -Psychodynamic therapy -Somatic techniques -Parts work -Emotion-focused therapy -DBT skill building -Trauma-informed therapy -Mindful self-compassion The above list can be fit into this nutshell: I bring authenticity (personality, humor, and humanness) into my work and enjoy helping folks like you get curious about who they are, what they need, and how they cope. My style of therapy is a mix of focusing on the present moment (what you think, feel, and need during session), getting curious about the past (how your experiences impact you now), and building new skills to get you where you want to be. It’s time to build a loving relationship with yourself. Here’s the good news: you don’t have to do this on your own. Contact me today to get started!
Our time together will be spent figuring the aspects- emotional, intellectual, sensory-based, and behavioral- of life through out your own story. Growing into learning how to listen to yourself so you can trust what it is you know, and what it is you need will be at the core of each session so that the feelings of stress, overwhelm, anxiousness, depression no longer keep you detached from yourself. The tools I use are done with cultural considerations, and by acknowledging the extra burdens social constructs and systemic environments put on you. I start with listening and being a witness to your story. With your consent, I use therapeutic tools to assist you in taking an objective stance in your story, and in offering yourself compassion. Continuing through developing and honing in on how you understand your experience through strengthening the connection between your mind and body. I am also trained in and have used EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) with children, teens, adults of both the neurodiverse (Autism, ADHD, etc.) and neurotypical populations. EMDR is used in session, with your consent, when you feel the need to address larger internal hurdles such as phobias or trauma(s) (also known as PTSD or C-PTSD). All of the work will be done at your pace and with your specific needs in mind. I am an affirming counselor and believe counseling should be for everyone. I understand the systemic pressure that can have you trying to “get it right!” A benefit to you may be my stance on de-stigmatizing mental health by avoiding rigid diagnoses and accepting that there is more than one way to live and thrive in this/your world. I will be ready when you are. Until then, good luck on your search. My license number is #93296. I am supervised by Stamatis Bogdanos, LPC-S | #64556 in Houston, Tx. It has been a privilege to have worked in the social work field for over 13 years in the state of Texas in various settings that have included long-term care, hospital settings, inpatient hospice, home health, foster and adoption, Alzheimer's and dementia care, private practice and now clinical supervision. I received my bachelor's in social work from Texas Woman's University and my master's in social work from the University of Texas at Arlington. I spent my post-graduate 2-year clinicals preparing to work in private practice and specialize in trauma and serving our veteran population. I am a native Texan who loves being a wife and mother, and I'm an avid nature lover with a passion for animals and for reading! I take the upmost care to provide a warm, caring and judgement-free approach in my treatment. It's daunting to sit with a stranger and discuss painful and sometimes traumatic details, and I strive to provide a safe and comfortable space to every client. I am trained and practiced in using many therapeutic modalities and approaches including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and many more. I place great importance on getting to know you with a comprehensive intake and assessment and appropriate diagnosis. A diagnosis isn't meant to be a label, but it is vital to ensuring that you receive the right therapy modality for your needs. There is no one size fits all approach in therapy!
Are you tired of people telling you how strong you are? Friends, family and even some therapists will often say this with the best of intentions. True healing, however, moves beyond pure resiliency. We must go further than just managing our emotions and begin to process and heal them so we can move through. As your therapist I will be both companion and challenger along your journey. I will walk alongside you and bring a genuine sense of compassion to any difficulties you may face. I offer a safe, open and non-judgmental space for you to find your own voice and equip you with tools to move forward and reach a more contented life. My therapeutic approach is integrative and incorporates a blend of cognitive behavioral, body based, emotion focused, family systems and relational orientations. I offer a holistic approach to treatment, taking into account your personality and life circumstances to create a specialized plan which reflects your own unique goals and gifts.
