Therapists for college students near Austin, TX
My name is Dr. Aparna Atluru, and I am a Stanford trained psychiatrist, am on faculty at UCSF, and specialize in seeing young adults (18-35). I further subspecialize in treating young up and comers in high stress roles: graduate &professional students, residents/physicians and start-up founders/tech employees. I am many things professionally: academic physician, double boarded psychiatrist, skilled psychotherapist, and Harvard MBA. Given my diverse educational, training, and teaching experiences, I am able to understand high achieving young adults from a unique perspective. I feel I am the best fit for young adults who are multi-dimensional, high achieving, and are motivated to make a change. I have a very limited private practice, and only take on patients who are interested in working on their whole self from a mental health perspective. I provide both psychotherapy and medication management (if needed). As a double boarded physician specializing in psychiatry, I have extensive training in both pediatric and adult psychopharmacology. From a psychotherapy perspective, I am trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), psychodynamic psychotherapy and existential psychotherapy. On the personal side, I am originally from Texas, am Indian- American, and enjoy being outdoors, writing fiction and sipping on a good boba tea. My patients tell me I have a witty sense of humor, so if you can handle that, please reach out and lets see if we can work together!

You’re juggling a lot. Classes, work, friends, family, money, maybe figuring out who you are and what you actually want from life. And somewhere in the middle of all that, your mental health is supposed to “keep up.” My practice is here for that in-between space—when things aren’t exactly falling apart, but they’re definitely not okay. I work with college students who are dealing with anxiety, overthinking, burnout, relationship stress, grief, and big life transitions. Together, we slow things down, sort through the noise, and build practical tools you can actually use in real life. Sessions are judgment-free, conversational, and tailored to you—no pressure to be “put together” or say the perfect thing. You can come as you are: exhausted, unsure, overwhelmed, or just curious about therapy. If you’re ready to feel a little less stuck and a little more like yourself again, you’re in the right place.
I help young adults who feel out of control of their lives. Stressed Out. Overwhelmed. Not quite sure how this whole adulting thing works. Trying to balance school, work, family, friends, and relationships. My clients struggle like you do. Despite being smart, driven, and funny, life is hard. When clients first come in, they may not feel enjoyment in the same activities they used to love. They may tend to mindlessly watch Youtube instead of completing their to-do list. They feel so stressed that they don’t finish tasks, and then beat themselves up for not completing it. The cycle continues as they feel worse and worse. My clients come into therapy looking for support, avoid doing things they used to love, have trouble connecting with family and friends, and find themselves second guessing their decisions. Choices may seem overwhelming, as if one wrong move sends them back to square one. They can’t sleep at night and have trouble completing assignments for college. In counseling, clients and I work together to see their choices in a wider lens and find ways that they are in control. We come up with plans to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. Please contact me if you’re ready to take control of your life and be the person you want to be.

Have been looking for love in all the wrong places? Maybe you are super tired of swiping right but only ending up hurt. Is your anxiety at an all time high? Do you find it hard to concentrate on the things you have to do or find yourself reading the same line over and over again. What about that voice in your head? The one that says you are never good enough. You keep trying to shut it up by performing, being perfect, and overachieving but nothing seems to work. You try and make everyone happy by never saying no, but you are just left holding the bag, feeling resentful. What if I told you, that you could stop hustling. That you are worthy of love and belonging, right now, as is. I know you call BS but that is your past tricking you into believing you aren't. You can put down the mask. You can learn to say no. You can feel safe in relationships. Instead of feeling empty, you can feel alive. Hell, maybe even some joy. I love working with young people who want to stop being so hard on themselves, want to stop hustling for love in all the wrong places, stop surviving on little sleep, Cheetos, and weed to being able to have healthy relationships while saying no, taking actual care of themselves, and know they are worthy. Do you ever feel like your mind just won’t turn off—replaying conversations, worrying about things that haven’t even happened yet, and finding it impossible to relax? Many of the people I work with experience these same struggles. They often share that they feel exhausted, disconnected, and like their lives lack meaning as they work tirelessly to keep it together on the outside. Anxiety, depression, and trauma can quietly weave their way into our lives and, if left unchecked, can take control and lead us into a downward spiral. Let me help you lighten the weight of these burdens and begin healing together.
I currently have immediate openings for teletherapy and I also offer walk-and-talk sessions at the San Jose Rose Garden. I am licensed in both California and Texas. I have more than ten years of experience working with adolescents and young adults. I most frequently help my college-aged clients navigate the challenges of anxiety, depression, ADHD, executive dysfunction, giftedness, self-esteem and body image issues, relationships, grief, disordered eating, and trauma. I specialize in, and especially enjoy working with, ADHD, gifted persons, and college-aged young adults. As a private practice clinician since 2012, I take an affective, strengths based, approach to therapy. I practice cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems therapy, trauma-informed care, dialectical behavioral therapy, and mindfulness. I work with individuals and families, and I facilitate an LGBTQ+ inclusive group for college-aged young women and non-binary persons. My style of therapy is centered, relaxed, and collaborative. It is vital to my practice that clients know they are talking to a real human being, and my client-therapist relationships are built on mutual trust and safety. I believe that mental healthcare should be holistic. To get at the whole person, I like to explore the interplay between movement, nutrition, sleep, and time spent in nature. And because mental health impacts so much of our lives, I often advocate for my clients and help coordinate support with other academic and healthcare professionals. I strongly believe that mental healthcare should be accessible and easy to navigate for everyone. I welcome clients from all communities, backgrounds, and walks of life. Outside of my home office, I am an avid hiker and eater of takeout. I’m learning to surf, and my favorite part of every day is spending time with my sixteen-year-old wiener dog.
Ramir's Counseling Center of Hope was created by a Licensed Professional Counselor who had a vision to encourage, motivate and provide access to tools needed to overcome current circumstances. Ramir stands for Rising Above My Inner Rival. Ramir is confirmation that we can accomplish anything regardless of the opposition we face. On March 7, 2018 the Ramir's Counseling Center of Hope, PLLC was established and confirmation was received that the storm was not meant to last always. As a child, mental health was present in my family and thus prepared me for the dynamics of not only the diagnosis but more importantly the person and those that surround them. Growing up, I played a part and everyone was treated the same regardless of their mental status, pill count, change in mood, IQ, anxiety level or temporary isolation that would occur. We, as a family, understood what it would take to maintain our family. My goal as a Licensed Professional Counselor is to provide an environment that reciprocates what my family and community offered. There is no special formula that can erase your situation but there is a way to get through it. The Inner Rival is the battle we have within, which is usually hidden from the world. Although at times, what we are facing is situational, it has an effect on us internally. The purpose of Ramir's Counseling Center of Hope, PLLC, is to work with each client to expose, address and conquer whatever that may be. So, I ask, are you ready? Below you will find my educational background. Education: University of North Texas Bachelor of Arts in Psychology Minor in Social Science Certificate in Substance Abuse Studies Amberton University Master of Arts in Professional Counseling *I am a Therapist licensed to practice in the state of Texas.
