**Accepting clients who reside in Georgia or Texas.** Having worked on college campuses in admissions, academic advising, and career counseling, I love working with college-age students and the unique stressors that this season of life can bring upon them. When I meet with young adults, I often hear comments like, “I’m overwhelmed and stressed, and I just can’t get out of my own head” or “This situation or this challenging relationship is leaving me frustrated and stuck, and I don’t know what to do about it.” Navigating relationships with others can be challenging when we are confused about what we can control in the situation. I know because I, too, have struggled with how to handle difficult people and difficult relationships in my life. This means that you are not alone in the challenges that you may be facing right now. I'd love to work with you through this difficult season. I also provide Career Exploration Coaching for clients who are looking for extra support on decision-making for choices of major/minor or potential career paths that fit them best. I'd love to help you through this process.
I’m Dewanna Lewis, a Licensed Professional Counselor and founder of Therapy With Dewanna, dedicated to supporting young adults as they navigate one of life’s most transformative seasons. College brings growth, independence, and opportunity — but it can also come with stress, identity exploration, academic pressure, and major life transitions. My approach focuses on helping students build emotional resilience, strengthen self-awareness, and develop practical tools that support both personal and academic success. I’m honored to partner with Thriving Camp to help students feel grounded, confident, and equipped to thrive far beyond their college years.
Have been looking for love in all the wrong places? Maybe you are super tired of swiping right but only ending up hurt. Is your anxiety at an all time high? Do you find it hard to concentrate on the things you have to do or find yourself reading the same line over and over again. What about that voice in your head? The one that says you are never good enough. You keep trying to shut it up by performing, being perfect, and overachieving but nothing seems to work. You try and make everyone happy by never saying no, but you are just left holding the bag, feeling resentful. What if I told you, that you could stop hustling. That you are worthy of love and belonging, right now, as is. I know you call BS but that is your past tricking you into believing you aren't. You can put down the mask. You can learn to say no. You can feel safe in relationships. Instead of feeling empty, you can feel alive. Hell, maybe even some joy. I love working with young people who want to stop being so hard on themselves, want to stop hustling for love in all the wrong places, stop surviving on little sleep, Cheetos, and weed to being able to have healthy relationships while saying no, taking actual care of themselves, and know they are worthy. This space is yours—a place where we can talk openly, without judgment, and work together to understand what’s going on and how to move forward in a way that feels right for you. In our first few sessions, we’ll get to know each other. I’ll ask some questions to learn about your background and goals, and you can ask me anything about how I work or what to expect from therapy. There's no pressure to share everything all at once—this is your process, and we’ll go at your pace. My goal is to help you feel safe, heard, and supported.
With over 10 years of experience in pastoral counseling, I bring a compassionate and grounded presence to the counseling relationship. My background includes walking with individuals through grief, anxiety, depression, and life transitions, as well as exploring questions of faith, identity, and meaning. These experiences have shaped my approach as one rooted in empathy, insight, and hope. I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and completing my practicum at AE Counseling under the supervision of Ami Evans. My goal is to provide a safe and supportive space where you can explore your story, reclaim your voice, and move toward healing and growth. Whether you’re navigating stress, loss, relationship challenges, or spiritual concerns, I will meet you with compassion and respect. I believe deeply in the power of connection and in honoring each person’s unique path. My counseling style is trauma-informed and person-centered, integrating clinical best practices with a holistic respect for the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. Together, we’ll work collaboratively to build resilience, strengthen self-understanding, and foster hope for what is possible.

I will hold a safe, trusting, and non-judgmental space for your unique life experiences, true authentic self, and help guide you through life in a way that feels most comfortable

There's an exhaustion and isolation that often come with mental health struggles. It’s easy to feel trapped in a cycle, simultaneously yearning for change and fearing it – especially when the cycle involves suicidal ideation, self-harm, substance use, addiction, or disordered eating. They all become ingrained in one's identity, making the idea of letting go terrifying. I want my clients to know there's more to them than their struggles. I'm here to support and guide them as they uncover their resilience and empowerment underneath the depression, anxiety, bipolar, trauma, and PTSD. I meet my clients where they are, simultaneously holding space for their emotions, thoughts, and current behaviors; all while gently guiding them out of the patterns that have been keeping them stuck. My goal is to strike a balance in our time together, seamlessly blending acceptance and change strategies to ensure a comprehensive and supportive experience. If you’re ready to discover your authentic self underneath self-destructive tendencies, please reach out. You deserve to live a life in which you are excited to participate—not just a life you passively tolerate. That life is out there, waiting for you. I would love to walk alongside you on your journey to help you take hold of it.

Life is hard! I get it, and more importantly, I get you. Therapy doesn't have to be hard. Sometimes you just need some extra set of eyes on your life with genuine concern and wide expertise. What type of clients found the most success with you thus far? Therapy doesn't work like that with me. Counseling is a personal process. But if you're willing to be goal set, grow, and experience counseling in a non-"bad and bougie" sort of way. Then come check me out!!!!
You'll learn evidence-based techniques like cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and exposure therapy to regulate physiological arousal, challenge distorted thinking, and gradually confront your issues. You'll discover that you have the innate ability to rewire your thought processes, let go of what's no longer serving you, and step into a life of greater calm, confidence, and fulfillment.
