We’re here to help anyone struggling with mental health to accelerate the healing process through music. Our founder Marlys Woods spent years using music to identify her emotions, but as she learned more about therapy, she realized that the one thing she relied on most to help her, was also keeping her stuck in unproductive, negative emotional states. Our mission is to teach everyone struggling with mental health how to stop using this powerful tool on a surface level, and start using music to create healthy life changes. We're working towards a society where we all know how to feel and face emotions and get to a place of freedom.
San Jose Behavioral Health offers Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for adults 18+ with a primary mental health diagnosis. Our PHP services are Monday-Friday from 9am-3pm, while we offer IOP services either 3 or 5 days per week, from 9am-12:30pm. While in treatment, individuals will engage in group therapy with the addition of individual sessions weekly with a therapist, psychiatrist and registered nurse. Treatment is an average of 6-8 weeks long, with individuals who begin in PHP stepping down to IOP prior to graduation. Currently we are offering services a both in person and via tele. I have over 20 years of experience working with a variety of concerns and populations, including with college students in Toronto Canada. I particularly love working on personal identity and roadblocks that can feel like they get in the way, for example anxiety and depression. I love to work with dream interpretation to delve into the unconscious aspects at play as well as spiritual and existential questions which can start arising in college such as “who am I? What am I meant to be doing and how?” Similarly life transitions, cross cultural concerns and substance abuse are areas that I have expertise in.
Whatever difficulty is bringing you into therapy, ultimately it's an opportunity to learn about who you are, and how your personal and intergenerational history is affecting your experience of yourself and how you perceive the world.
