Hello! My name is Julie Atabe at CarePath Counseling, and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Colorado, Arizona, and Wisconsin. I see clients via telehealth in CO, AZ, and WI. I also see clients in person in Broomfield, CO. I specialize in anxiety, depression, life and school stress, self-esteem issues, and college transition concerns. I am passionate about supporting college students through the unique challenges they face. I believe in creating a safe, non-judgmental space where students can explore their feelings, build resilience, and develop the tools they need to thrive academically and personally. I’m here to offer guidance and support, whether you're dealing with academic pressure, personal struggles, or just looking for someone to talk to. I look forward to working with you and helping you find the balance you need to succeed. I am in network with Aetna, United Health Care/UBH/UMR, and Cigna Evernorth in Colorado only for telehealth and in-person sessions. I also accept self-pay in Colorado, Arizona, and Wisconsin and will provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance if needed.
My practice integrates bodywork with talk therapy. After fifteen years as a Structural Integration practitioner, I trained at Naropa in somatic psychotherapy — so sessions can include hands-on work, movement, breath, and conversation, depending on what's needed. The people I work best with tend to be thoughtful and somewhat introspective. They often sense that talking alone hasn't moved things — that something is held in the body, in patterns of tension, posture, or reactivity. Some arrive with chronic physical complaints alongside emotional ones. Others come stuck in relationships, identity questions, or grief that won't shift. You don't need any background in this work to start. We begin with what you're actually noticing — in your body, your mood, your day — and follow it from there.
Are stress, anxiety, burnout or injury limiting your ability to feel confident in life, school or sport? With a speciality in Sport Psychology and fourteen years experience in general mental health, I help both athlete and non-athlete clients break through their mental obstacles by guiding them to develop the core "mental gear" they need to spend more time doing what they love. At my local private practice we can strengthen: - Anxiety + Stress management - Confidence - Mindfulness - Post-injury planning / Post-concussion healing - Motivation enhancement - You-centered goals - Transition + Athletic identity - Body Image and Disordered Eating
Judy Taub has dedicated nearly 30 years to supporting college students at the counseling center at CU Boulder. As a clinician, she provided individual, couples, and group therapy, while also serving as an administrator overseeing all clinical services. Although she recently retired from CU, her commitment to social work remains unwavering. She continues to offer support and ongoing therapy to individuals facing a range of challenges, helping them develop essential skills and navigate their journeys.
A lot of the students I work with are trying to juggle classes, friends, family, a rigorous academic schedule, all the while trying to maybe work, eat well, get sleep, and figure out what’s next—and it can feel overwhelming. Some deal with stress, anxiety, or low mood, while others are navigating breakups, roommate issues, or just the pressure of having to “have it all together.” I tend to connect best with students who are open to talking things through, even if they’re not sure what they need yet. You don’t have to have the answers or know exactly what you want out of counseling—that’s something we can figure out together. I have worked in higher education prior to starting my private counseling practice, both at Colorado School of Mines and CU Boulder assisting students with their mental health and career direction - I understand the unique pressures students are under, specifically STEM students. It’s completely normal to feel lost or stuck at times. Having a space to talk it out, gain perspective, and feel supported can make a big difference. Feel free to reach out and I would be happy to discuss what unique challenges you may be facing and see if working together might be a good fit. Please reach out via Thriving Campus or on my website directly!
Life can feel overwhelming when things aren't going the way you imagined. You might feel lost, stuck, and unsure of how to move forward. No matter where you are on your journey, you deserve a space where you feel truly seen and heard. I will create a space for you to find comfort and direction, where together, we’ll uncover clarity and build a path toward healing and growth. With over 13 years of experience, I specialize in working with adults through a trauma-focused lens.
We are happy that you are here, and we hope that we will get to walk alongside you for this portion of your life! While we cannot change the past, or sometimes the external stressors of our present lives, we can impact our trajectory going forward. And here at KCAPS, we believe in supporting people to do just that. Together we may move between past, present, and future… healing, recovering, processing, liberating, exploring, problem-solving, building, empowering, etc depending on your goals and your needs. With a strengths-based, culturally-centered, trauma-informed, collaborative approach, KCAPS staff flexibly utilize various treatment modalities that are evidence-based. We will work together, incorporating both your expertise and ours to move toward your identified treatment goals. Parts of life can be hard and we all could use a little help sometimes. It can take a lot of strength and courage to lean into that humanness, and allow for others to show up for us in that space of vulnerability. We would be honored to meet you there… contact us now!
As a multicultural woman, I not only have personal experience with historical trauma, intergenerational trauma, and women's issues, but I also specialize in grief and loss, sexual assault/violence, suicidality, relationship issues, transitional difficulties, depression, anxiety, identity formation, and more. With experience serving ages 12-adult, I aim to create a safe space to explore an array of different obstacles within the human experience to leave my clients feeling empowered and heard. With a deep personal and professional understanding of social work, social justice, social change, and historical trauma, I align myself in support of the acknowledgement and healing of all Indigenous Peoples, the Black Lives Matter Movement and Black / African American folks as well as many multicultural minoritized individuals and communities experiencing racialized trauma and injustice, as well as the LGBTQIA+ communities continuing to fight every day for equity across systems. I have a well-rounded perspective on spirituality, and challenge myself to do continued allyship work within myself and my practice to show up for the intersections of my clients with a mindfulness around impact, action, and honoring the innate dignity of the whole person.
Wonton (Professionally trained Therapy Dog) & I are so excited you've found us! Are you curious about Animal-Assisted Therapy & connecting with an enthusiastic, loving, compassionate, 8-year-old, yellow lab? It can feel really isolating to struggle with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, and/or addiction. On top of that, it can be challenging to connect with people who understand that experience without judgement & can offer appropriate support. Therapy Dogs offer a very unique type of support for mental health: nervous system regulation, somatic processing, grounding skills, relationship skills, general improvements in mood, etc. Wonton & I have been a partnered therapy team since 2018 & we offer a warm, non-judgmental approach to facilitate the challenging work of therapy. We utilize a combination of therapeutic modalities such as Animal-Assisted Therapy, along with CBT, DBT, ACT, Trauma-Focused, & Solution-Focused specialties to support young adults/adults. After my family experienced something traumatic and we went through our own grief and healing journey (ongoing), this experience helped me to relate to a broader range of folks who were also hurting. I became a mental health professional because I love connecting with people and want to help them navigate unique and challenging circumstances. I am passionate about partnering with people who are choosing change and healing in order to discover more about themselves, grow, improve their quality of life and relationships with others. Prior to working in the mental health field, I worked as an Administrative Personnel at a University in Colorado for over 10 years and supported undergraduate and graduate students which allowed me opportunities to witness the unique challenges that students experience. If you are struggling with the stress of meeting new expectations, adjusting to college environments, managing your course load along with other adult responsibilities, trying to find your identity as a young adult, struggling in your relationships, having homesickness, and/or managing an illness(es), then you are not alone in this experience. If you are ready to choose change & healing in order to discover more about yourself, grow, & improve your quality of life & relationships with others, then Wonton & I would love an opportunity to connect & partner with you! (Current Availability: Mondays 9am Virtual, 1pm Virtual; and Thursdays 1pm In-person, 3pm In-person).
