Therapists for college students near 80204
With over two decades of experience in various roles, including massage therapy, education, and small business leadership, I've developed a deep understanding of how to empower individuals at different stages of life to achieve their goals. My passion is helping people overcome what has been overwhelming & discover a path towards healing and wholeness. As a therapist and founder of Uppskatta Counseling, I offer a supportive space for deep listening and transformative growth. Forget the stereotype of the silent, blank-faced therapist. I believe in genuine connection. I'll show up as my authentic self and create a space where you can do the same.
Welcome — you don’t have to figure this out alone. College can be exciting and overwhelming. Between classes, exams, relationships, finances, and figuring out who you’re becoming, it’s easy to feel anxious, stressed, or burned out. If your mind feels like it won’t slow down, your body feels constantly tense, or you’re putting pressure on yourself to “have it all together,” you’re not broken—you’re human. I work with college students who want relief from anxiety and stress, and who are ready to build coping skills that actually fit real life. Therapy with me is down-to-earth, supportive, and practical. We’ll focus on helping you understand what’s happening inside you, calm your nervous system, and develop tools so you can feel more confident, grounded, and like yourself again. You don’t need to be in crisis to start therapy. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or just tired of carrying everything on your own, this can be a space to pause, breathe, and get support—without judgment.
What makes Restoration Psychology different? We know you have various options for treatment providers and therapy. Restoration Psychology is deeply committed to providing culturally sensitive and inclusive treatment for all people. We strive to help our clients restore mental well being and reduce psychological stress. We know that each individual and family has a unique set of needs and cultural values that can impact treatment. Our clinicians work hard to understand our clients from a bio-psycho-social- spiritual lens. We want to tailor each treatment approach to fit your needs. We are a full-service counseling center specializing in faith-based counseling through a unique bio-psycho-social-spiritual lens aimed at integrating the full self by renewing what has been damaged, revitalizing what has decayed, and rebuilding what has deteriorated. In order to do this, we must explore each aspect of the individual—their physical characteristics (race, ethnicity, health issues etc.), mental/emotional states, relationships with others (including family and community groups), and faith convictions. This allows us to take the first step of the journey toward restoration. Because spiritual belief influences one’s worldview, it also greatly influences the individual and is, therefore, an important aspect to be explored. We promise to work with you where you are, no matter your faith background. We will provide a safe space for you to confront any issues that arise in a judgment-free environment.
As a somatic therapist, I help teens and adults connect to themselves through body-centered techniques that bring awareness of inner sensations and release pent-up trauma, stress, and emotions. My work centers on some of life's most profound challenges: identity, grief, life transitions, crisis, and trauma. I believe that one of the greatest threats to humanity is disconnection – from our bodies, our intuition, one another, and the world around us – and the body is where true healing beings. That’s why my work is rooted in guiding others through the process of reconnection, supporting the holistic well-being of the mind, body and spirit. Whether you're navigating a difficult season or searching for greater clarity and resilience, I'm here to guide you. In our work together, you can expect a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where you are met exactly as you are. I draw on somatic and contemplative therapy techniques to help you move beyond intellectualizing your emotions and into a more embodied, authentic experience of them. My approach is patient-centered, meaning I tailor every aspect of our work to your unique experiences, needs, and goals. I bring genuine warmth and honesty to each session, grounded in a deep belief in self-compassion. It is truly a privilege to witness patients step into their potential, and I look forward to supporting you on that journey. My path to becoming a therapist is rooted in lived experience. Following a Bipolar I diagnosis, I navigated my own journey through crisis and, in doing so, discovered firsthand how transformative somatic therapy can be. That experience didn't just shape my healing; it shaped my calling. Having walked through darkness and found my way toward the light through therapy, I understand on a deeply personal level what it means to feel lost and what it takes to begin feeling whole again. That understanding is at the heart of everything I do. It drives my commitment to offering you care that is not only clinically informed, but also genuinely compassionate and free of judgment. Outside of the therapy room, I find joy and restoration in many of the same practices I bring to my work. I love dancing, painting, and yoga, as well as more active pursuits like skiing, hiking, swimming, and exercise. Cooking and spending time in nature also keep me grounded and inspired. These passions fuel my belief in the healing power of movement, creativity, and connection.
Finding clarity, confidence, and direction is possible, and you don't have to figure it out alone. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I help adults and older teens navigate anxiety, stress, life transitions, and self-esteem challenges. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, caught in cycles of overthinking, or unsure of your next steps, this is a space where you can feel genuinely heard, supported, and understood while seeking greater clarity, confidence, and direction. My commitment is to be a steady partner in your care, helping you build insight and move toward a values-driven life that feels more aligned and manageable. My approach is person-centered, strengths-based, and collaborative by design. Drawing on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, we work together to build practical strategies while developing a deeper, more compassionate understanding of yourself. Sessions are nonjudgmental and shaped around your unique needs, experiences, and goals, in a supportive and flexible environment. Whether the focus is on strengthening emotional awareness, developing coping skills, or moving through a difficult season of life, the direction of our work is always guided by what matters most to you. The goal is to support you in ways that feel meaningful and genuine, even when difficult thoughts and emotions arise. My path to becoming a therapist is rooted in personal experience. At a younger age, navigating anxiety led me to therapy, where I discovered how powerful it can be to feel truly understood while also gaining tools that make a real difference. That experience shaped everything about how I provide care that is both compassionate and actionable. This foundation also drives my commitment to bringing a real, relatable presence to every session while helping patients build skills that lead to meaningful, lasting change. Outside of the therapy room, creativity and movement keep me grounded. Reading, drawing, and working on creative projects are some of my favorite ways to recharge. Movies, time spent with dogs, and quiet walks also bring me a lot of joy.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I specialize in helping adults navigate the challenges that contribute to anxiety, depression, attention and concentration difficulties, codependency, grief, trauma, generational trauma, and PTSD. Compassion, rapport, and curiosity are at the heart of how I work with each person. Every session is designed to be a place of safety where you can explore your emotions honestly and begin creating the kind of meaningful change that lasts. Whether you're carrying the weight of past experiences or managing the demands of everyday life, I'm here to help you find your way through it. Our work together takes place in a compassionate, supportive therapeutic environment where you are seen, heard, and respected. Drawing on person-centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed approaches, we'll explore the impact of past experiences and build the healthy coping skills and resilience you need to thrive. Self-compassion, mindfulness, and breathwork are integral to my practice, because how you relate to yourself matters just as much as the strategies we develop together. The goal is always the same: to help you become the best version of yourself while navigating whatever life brings your way. My path to becoming a therapist began in social work, serving underserved individuals and communities. That experience revealed just how urgent the need for accessible, quality mental health care for all individuals truly is. Witnessing the power of genuine connection and the difference it makes in people's lives deepened my commitment to providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions that not only manage symptoms but also overcome challenges faced. Today, I bring that same compassion and empathy to every session, while also gently challenging you to explore your internal dialogue, your values, and your most authentic self. Family, friends, and time spent outdoors are central to my sense of well-being, as I believe that joy and play are essential. I also love learning new things, and lately that's meant exploring the world of arts and crafts.
Life has a way of piling up. When it does, the weight of anxiety, stress, or an unexpected change can leave you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself. As a mental health therapist specializing in anxiety, stress, depression, self-esteem, relationship challenges, life transitions, and emotional regulation, I work with young adults and adults who are ready to make sense of what they're carrying and find their way back to a life that feels meaningful. Whatever brought you here, whether it's daily anxiety, a relationship that's wearing on you, or a constant sense of being off-balance, you deserve a space where you can finally slow down, sort through it, and build real inner strength. Together, we'll move at a pace that feels completely right for you, leaving room for clarity, self-discovery, and growth. It would be a true privilege to walk alongside you on that path. My approach is driven by a genuine belief that every person is capable of meaningful, lasting change, and that the right space makes all the difference. Creating an environment where you feel truly heard, understood, and free to be honest is something I care deeply about, and it shapes everything about how sessions are structured. You can expect warmth, curiosity, and zero judgment in our time together, in a warm and validating environment entirely centered on you. Every session is tailored to your unique story, your needs, and your goals. Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I help you build practical coping strategies and develop emotional flexibility — tools that don't just work in session, but travel with you into everyday life. My path to becoming a therapist grew from a deep curiosity about human behavior and how mental health shapes the texture of daily life. Before this work, I spent years as a university professor, and my own migration journey gave me a firsthand understanding of what it really takes to adapt, rebuild, and grow through difficult transitions. These experiences inform how I show up in the room with you. They taught me how to offer a grounded, trustworthy, and steady presence that allows you the space to look inward and rediscover your own strengths. When I'm not working, I'm usually somewhere outdoors: hiking with my dog, riding my bike, or lacing up my roller skates with friends. Crafting rounds out the mix, and whatever the project, there's always something new in progress.

You deserve a space where your story is honored, your pain is witnessed, and your healing feels possible. As a trauma-informed therapist, I work with individuals and couples who are ready to reconnect with themselves, process what’s been holding them back, and move forward with clarity and self-trust. Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all — and it shouldn't be. I meet you exactly where you are, with compassion and curiosity, and we collaborate to create a path forward that feels authentic to you. I hold the belief that you are the expert of your life; my role is to help you access the wisdom and resilience you already carry within. In our work together, we’ll gently explore how past experiences show up in your present — in your thoughts, your relationships, and in your body. I integrate EMDR, somatic approaches, parts work, mindfulness, and nervous system education to help you not just understand yourself, but feel more whole and empowered in daily life. Clients often come to me feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected — and leave feeling more confident, self-aware, and capable of navigating life with intention. I offer gender-affirming care and a welcoming, inclusive space for LGBTQIA+ clients, BIPOC, and anyone seeking healing without judgment. You don’t have to figure it all out alone. Together, we’ll build the foundation for the change you’re ready for.

Living with anxiety or a mood disorder can feel isolating, overwhelming, and hard to put into words. You may find yourself overthinking, feeling on edge, or weighed down by intense sadness. At other times, your energy or mood may shift in ways that feel just as unsettling - racing thoughts, difficulty sleeping, or feeling pulled in a million different directions. You may wonder why things feel so much harder for you than they seem for others or feel frustrated by patterns that you can't seem to break. If any of this resonates with you, I see you - and you don't have to go through it on your own. I'm here to help by creating a supportive, nonjudgmental space grounded in empathy and honesty, when it’s helpful. You’re the expert in your life—I’m here to walk alongside you. Together, we will explore your values, build routines that support your mood, and gently shift unhelpful thought patterns. My practice is rooted in a deep respect for the many factors that shape each person’s healing—both within and around them. Having experienced my own transformative work in therapy, I understand the courage and vulnerability it takes to show up. It’s truly an honor to be invited into that journey, and I approach each client with care, humility, and warmth.
Often the people who find me are high achieving and highly anxious folx who use fantasy as a way to connect. I'm amazed at how much my clients talk about D&D and love how much joy and opportunity it offers. Many of my clients identify in the LGBTQ+ community as well.
Life is full of unexpected twists and turns that can throw us off course. That’s why it is important to carve out the time to talk through what’s going on and to thoughtfully plan next steps. I specialize in supporting those who have been diagnosed with an eating disorder, experience disordered eating, or struggle with body image issues. I have extensive experience working with those who struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, low self-esteem, and stress. I wholeheartedly believe everyone deserves respectful and supportive care, no matter your body, shape, size, race, religion, gender or diagnosis. My passion lies in instilling hope that recovery and wellness is possible – and worth it! It would be a privilege to walk alongside you as you navigate this journey.
You feel alone, no one understands the pain that you are experiencing. You long for your life to be different, to feel happy again. Wishing that your past didn't define you and your value. You desire to take back the power that your past stole from you. To determine what your future will look like. Wishing you could look in the mirror and recognize and feel connected to the person that you see looking back at you. You desire to have meaningful relationships again, ones that you can trust and not have to fear being hurt. Relationships are a struggle. There is a constant question of safety and trust. Trust used to come so easy and it is now such a foreign concept. Safety? What does that even mean? You struggle to know whether the people around you even care about you, or if they have an ulterior motive. It is hard to feel peaceful and calm when you constantly feel jumpy and on edge. Always aware of your surroundings, you are unable to relax and just enjoy yourself. Being present in the moment feels impossible and you find yourself zoning off, unaware of where you venture to.
