Do you often find yourself going back and forth about making a change in your head? Is part of you wanting to make that change and part of you not feeling sure or quite ready yet? This is all part of the change process, and you are probably further along than you realize! Sometimes a new perspective and new tools can help us "get off the seesaw" and get closer to the life we want to have. I work to build a space of non-judgment and acceptance so my clients can be seen exactly as they are without fear, so we can find the path forward together. I work most often with clients who are anxious, perfectionistic, struggling to balance their work/home lives, or people who are trying to work through religious-based trauma. The services I provide are secular, racial justice allied, gender-affirming and LGBTQIA+ allied, and body positive. I have also worked with military service members, spouses, and family members for years. If you have any questions about how this affects my approach, please feel free to ask! I utilize evidenced-based approaches (ACT, DBT, EMDR) to help clients develop new skills, and lean into their current strengths so they can move toward the life they want. Maybe this is your first time in counseling, or maybe you are coming back due to recent challenges. My goal is to make sure you feel comfortable and ready to take on what you're facing together. I look forward to getting to know you, and being a part of your change process!
I help individuals enhance their mental health. My approach is based on the premise that nutrition, physical activity, and how we recover are foundational to our well-being. We will optimize your life with thoughtful prescriptions, psychotherapy, nutritional and supplement counseling, and prescriptive exercise.

In my work with clients, I focus on collaboratively identifying goals, needs, and challenges to address during our sessions. My aim is to provide a safe and supportive environment where you can comfortably explore issues like relationship struggles, mental health concerns, or life transitions. I specialize in depression, anxiety, LGBTQ+ issues, and relationships using evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care. I believe everyone has the potential for growth and healing, and I’m dedicated to providing a safe, non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences as we work toward your goals. I chose to pursue a career in mental health because I am passionate about helping others find balance and well-being in their lives. MY PHILOSOPHY: As a Counselor, Coach and Ayurvedic Consultant I approach the therapeutic process from a holistic view point. I believe that the integration of the body, mind and spirit is an essential expression of personal health. Many of today’s Mental, Physical and Social Illnesses stem from a lack of integration-disintegration, resulting in persons dissociated from themselves, the community and the environment. My focus is on the whole person, with special emphasis on how the mind is connected directly to the body and how a person thinks, feels and acts. Emphasis will be on wellness, with symptoms seen as calls to self-realization. MY SPECIALTIES: Individual counseling services for disorders such as: Anxiety Spectrum disorders like: Panic Attacks, PTSD, OCD, Social anxiety, Phobias, IBS, Stress management and Worry; Depressive disorders like: Mania, Bipolar disorder, Post-partum depression, and Depression; Sleep disorders like Insomnia and sleep/wake disorders Group practice: I have a team of counselors who work with me. In the event that so don’t have openings my team will be able to help with the case load.
I work best with young adults experiencing anxiety, difficulty adjusting, and/or have experience of trauma responses or dissociation. I focus strongly on creating a warm, nonjudgmental space to allow clients to be fully open and allow for the most healing. I aim to help you feel heard and empowered while working through any struggles you’re facing.
I believe growth happens when we feel seen, supported, and understood. My counseling style is compassionate and collaborative — meeting you where you are while helping you take clear, intentional steps toward where you want to be. Using a gentle yet solutions-focused approach, I draw from evidence-based practices to help you uncover patterns, develop effective coping tools, and move toward lasting change. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, life transitions, stress, or relationship challenges, our work together focuses on understanding your story and finding practical ways forward. My goal is to help you build insight, confidence, and resilience, so you can feel more grounded, connected, and capable in your daily life. I specialize in working with teens, young adults, and adults who are navigating life transitions, anxiety, stress, and relationship challenges. I am Shana Dobson, also known as Shana "Danger" Dobson, former UFC fighter. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor that has navigated marginalization in athletic, social, and mental health related spaces. I knew firsthand the importance of mental health community and support, being a Black, queer, neurodiverse, masculine presenting, first generation American with Jamaican roots. Mainstream mental health care was not built for everyone. Marginalized communities often face the additional burden of educating their therapist about their own lives — and that burden gets in the way of healing. At Path2Peace, we believe every person deserves a clinician who brings genuine, lived understanding — not just cultural competency training. We use the word communities intentionally, because every identity we serve represents a community with power, beauty, and resilience. Our practice is fully telehealth, Colorado-based, and rooted in affirming, intersectional care. As a proud professional athlete, I understand what it means to exist at the intersection of multiple identities in spaces that were not always built for you. That knowledge is not incidental to my clinical work — it is central to it. Path2Peace is a space that not only acknowledges these realities, but supports and empowers the communities impacted by them. I created Path2Peace because I know what it feels like to walk into a space and immediately wonder whether you're truly welcome there. This practice is my answer to that feeling: a fully telehealth practice in Colorado built on the belief that clients from marginalized communities deserve therapists who share their lived experience — not just clinicians who've attended a training about them. This practice is growing, and I'm excited to connect with clients who are ready to begin their journey and therapists who are ready to practice in a space that honors everything they are.
As an insight-oriented therapist I operate from the belief that the more we understand about where we have been, the more control we have in where we are going. I take a client-centered approach to therapy, encouraging my clients to bring in what feels most important to them each week. When working with clients, my first priority is establishing a secure, authentic relationship that meets the needs of each individual. We work together to identify patterns of how you relate to yourself and others. We explore where they came from and the purpose they serve in your life. This allows you to identify what you want to change, and together we work to create a life that aligns with who you are.
You've done the hard thing. You made a decision to talk to someone and you're here. If you are trying to understand the depression that won't go away, even on good days, or quiet the running dialogue in your head that doesn't ever stop, I can help. I can help you manage the behaviors that you can't seem to walk away from, or teach your nervous system to relax so you don't have to feel like you're on hyper-alert all the time. If you need to talk openly about the things you've lost, or things you've seen, or just how much it hurts, I can walk with you through all of it. In my 28 years as a therapist, I have addressed several mental health issues, and consider substance use, military experience, trauma, depression, loss, grief, and spirituality, as specialties. I also offer therapy for suicidal ideation or suicide-centered issues (ideation, attempt or grief), and don't shy away from having the real conversation. I know it takes a lot to choose therapy, more so to pick a therapist. My first goal for us is to build trust, a sense of psychological safety which I value for you more than anything.
