Therapists for college students near 80309
It seems like doing life got harder. Stress is prevalent, the room clears out. You feel overwhelmed, patience is low and checking out sounds like a good idea. Tired of trying to make everyone happy? Got friends? Love? Expressing confidence is difficult and you question yourself constantly. All of these can lead to depression, anxiety, unhealthy relationships and poor habits and addiction. But they don't have to cause suffering. There are many tools available to you that can help you problem solve, reduce anxious and depressive symptoms, improve relationships and even tools that you can start using right now to find love. I practice from the belief that everyone can have a balanced life. You can have love, friends & even appreciate going to work every day. That anxiety is not to be feared but appreciated. That your mind has the potential to heal naturally given the right tools. My toolbox includes art, mindfulness, somatic techniques, CBT, outdoor therapy and more. The hardest step is to show up to your first session. For many of us it is like the first day of school. Soon, you get to know your teachers and with hard work, you learn, you grow and you move on. Team up with me and you will soon discover that you won't want to go back to the old way of being.
Are you feeling like something isn't quite right with you? Do you feel overwhelmed with daily life, while it seems like everyone else is doing just fine? It's not uncommon for people to struggle with past trauma, anxiety, or high levels of stress, which can make it challenging to cope with daily life and enjoy it. If you're at this point, know that you're not alone, and there is support available to you. As a therapist, I specialize in working with women, those in the LGBTQ+ community, and others who are seeking a safe and accepting space to heal. I understand that it can feel like you're trapped in the past, or that depression and anxiety are weighing you down, but there are effective treatments that can help you feel better in a matter of weeks, not years. My approach includes HeartMath, a program focused on finding balance and inner peace, as well as written exposure therapy, which is an evidence-based, gentler version of more intense trauma therapies. These techniques can help you feel more energy, freedom, and peace in your daily life. I know that starting therapy can be intimidating, which is why I work at your pace and provide a safe and supportive environment. If you're interested in learning more about how I can help, please visit my website to schedule a free consultation. You deserve support, and I'm here to help you on your journey to healing.
College can bring a lot: new freedom, pressure to succeed, and the stress of figuring out who you are and where you are headed. Many of the students I work with feel weighed down by anxiety, burnout, overthinking, imposter syndrome, or the pressure to be perfect. Others are coping with ADHD, past/current trauma, anxiety and social anxiety or just the everyday stress of classes, relationships, and big transitions. With 12 years of experience working in university counseling centers, I have a deep understanding of the unique challenges of college and graduate students' lives. In our work together, you will find a supportive space to talk honestly about what is on your mind, learn coping tools to manage stress, and feel more grounded and confident. My goal is to help you feel less alone and more able to handle the challenges of college life.

Choosing a therapist is a deeply personal decision. It's important to find someone that you can relate to and most importantly someone that you trust. We will work together to create a secure relationship, where you begin to feel less alone experiencing emotional vulnerability. My capacity to truly see you, and your capacity to feel comfortable being seen, will be essential to your healing. It is my belief that lasting growth does not occur as a result of insight and understanding alone. Deep healing and change happen when you are able to explore new emotional experiences and to try new behaviors, in the presence of a supportive person (therapist). I work with adults and older adolescents to address old wounds, to increase self compassion and to develop increased emotional stability and flexibility. If you are interested in learning more about me and my practice, please visit my website or email/call to schedule a brief phone consultation.

Whether you're a young adult navigating the pressures of school and relationships, a youth finding your footing at home, or someone facing anxiety or grief at any stage of life, you don't have to do it alone. I specialize in anxiety and grief across all ages, with a particular focus on supporting adolescents through the everyday challenges that can feel anything but ordinary. What you'll find in our work together is a space where you are seen, heard, and never judged. Authenticity guides everything I do, and my commitment is to show up for you with genuine empathy and compassion so that we can collaborate in a way that truly serves your needs and goals. Acceptance, empathy, and patience are at the heart of how I practice. Sessions are grounded in your experiences, your goals, and your pace, so that the direction of our work together always feels relevant to your life. Drawing on both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and person-centered care, I tailor my approach to meet you where you are, offering a compassionate, attentive environment where you feel supported every step of the way. Before becoming a therapist, I spent 25 years working in schools, and it was there I witnessed firsthand how many students were navigating real mental health challenges without adequate support. That experience became the turning point that led me to this work, deepening my dedication to person-centered care and reinforcing my belief that every patient deserves to be met with understanding and intention. The perspective I gained from those years in education shapes how I show up for you in every session. Family and exploration bring me a great deal of joy. Spending quality time with the people I love and traveling, whether that means discovering new destinations around the world or finding hidden gems across the U.S., keep me curious, grounded, and energized.

Students I work with often have a lot on their plate and feel stuck trying to manage it all. You might be dealing with anxiety, feeling down, struggling in your relationships, or unsure of your direction. Even if things look “fine” on the outside, you may feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or frustrated by patterns that don’t seem to change. Welcome To Our Group Practice A message from the Founder and Clinical Director: I want you to know how excited I am to meet you. I light up when I think about ways I can support you and be a part of ushering human beings into a new world. I feel hopeful when I see the work of Brene Brown, HeatherAsh Amara, Tara Brach and many others like them who are doing work on a large scale to help us move out of the old paradigm of living from the head- comparison, acquisition, power at all costs, being the smartest person in the room, and fierce independence. We are evolving into heart-centered living- which is practicing empathy, compassion, acceptance, cooperation, openness, interdependence and curiosity. This is how I want to live, do you? I believe it is possible and heart-centered living starts with healing past wounds and freeing up our energy to take responsibility for our lives. I was a kid who had a lot of energy. I loved doing cartwheels in the grass, voraciously reading every single one of the books in the Babysitters Club series and climbing the weeping willow trees that grew near my house. I've always loved exploring, learning, and moving my body. Now, I use that energy to climb rock walls, hike mountains, and enthusiastically lead therapists in our thriving private practice while facilitating a kick-ass women's empowerment program. I get energized when I feel into how much healing we get to do together. I have discovered my gifts of curiosity, intuition, and a natural tendency to care about and hold compassionate space for others. I channel this into my work with individual clients, workshops that I facilitate, and the mentorship and training that I offer to the therapists who work with me at Insight. I want you to feel excitement about your life and journey towards bringing your gifts forth. We can help you discover who you are under the layers of self-protection, survival mode, and numbing the overwhelm. The first steps toward this is saying yes to yourself, beginning your healing, and trusting the process. Our group practice offers so many avenues for growth. We have specialties in EMDR, Internal Family Systems, group work and workshops, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Feminist Therapy, Existential Therapy, and more. Explore our website to see what speaks to you and reach out to our Client Care Coordinator. She can determine who and what will be the best fit for your goals. If you feel a YES rising in you, if you want to live more from your HEART and SOUL- then give us a call and schedule your first appointment or join our next workshop. You are worth it. You matter. Take the leap! With Love, Respect, and Hope, Bethany
