Therapists for college students near Boulder, CO
I earned my B.A. in Psychology from Towson University and am currently enrolled at the University of Denver, working toward my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling Psychology. A little bit about myself, I love pets and the outdoors, and I am a self-proclaimed nerd who loves lots of different kinds of video, card, and board games. I am devoted to nurturing and creating meaningful change within individuals, helping them cultivate resilience, embrace their authentic selves, and live in alignment with their personal values and identity. I believe mental health challenges do not discriminate and can affect anyone, which is why I am committed to creating a space where clients feel empowered to do the work that feels necessary for them. As I continue to grow in my clinical training, I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches, including existential therapy, family systems, psychodynamic theory, and mindfulness, tailoring my support to what best fits each individual client. I am passionate about working with individuals, families, groups, and couples navigating life's transitions and challenges, including anxiety, ADHD, depression, trauma, and the search for meaning. My goal is to foster healthy relationships, authenticity, autonomy, and interconnectedness within each person, supporting them in becoming healthier, more resilient individuals who can succeed in their own life's journey on their own terms, in accordance with their truths and ideal selves.
I earned my B.A. in psychology from Winthrop University and an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University, and I am currently pursuing a PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Denver. As a clinical intern, I take a deeply relational approach to therapy, grounded in cultural awareness, developmental understanding, and a commitment to meeting clients exactly where they are. I believe that people grow through connections, and I work collaboratively to build a therapeutic relationship that feels safe, authentic, and genuinely supportive. I enjoy working with children, teens, and adults as they navigate identity development, relationship concerns, and major life transitions. I strive to create a warm, attuned space where clients can explore their experiences, make meaning of their stories, and move toward greater clarity and self-understanding. Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy watching movies, playing outdoor club soccer, and practicing the clarinet to help me stay grounded, creative, and balanced.
My name is Mera Habib and I am a board-certified physician assistant who has lived in Colorado for most of my life. I completed my Physician Assistant degree at Rocky Vista University and earned my undergraduate degree from Colorado State University (go Rams!). Prior to Physician Assistant school, I worked in an outpatient psychiatric setting where I had the opportunity to care for patients with a wide range of mental health conditions. That experience really shaped my passion for supporting people through all kinds of life challenges. I’m committed to providing thoughtful, inclusive care to individuals from all backgrounds. My goal is to create a space where patients feel heard, respected, and truly cared for.
I specialize in therapy for late teens (16+) and adults with OCD, complex trauma, anxiety, depression, challenging family dynamics, athletes and those who love and support athletes, those wanting to work on relationship difficulties. Using an integrative approach, I draw from evidence-based techniques including exposure and response prevention (ERP), person-centered, attachment-relational, trauma-informed, EMDR therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). I have additional training in ERP for OCD and phobias.
My approach is systemic, meaning that I take all factors into consideration – past, present and future. I focus on supporting issues related to anxiety, depression, ADD/ADHD, substance use, body image issues, trauma and relationship struggles. I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Family Studies, Master’s in Social Work and a post-graduate certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Addictions Counselor. I have completed training as an Intuitive Eating Counselor through The Original Intuitive Eating Pros and Eye-movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, and IFS foundational training.
As a therapist, I aim to help individuals navigate the sometimes messy, uncomfortable parts of growth so they can move toward a life that feels more authentic. I create a space for clients to be with and feel their emotions fully so that they stop controlling their behaviors. I believe that we must be intentional with what we spend our time and energy on. When we decide what matters most to us and channel our energy into those things, rather than the things that drain us, this is when we can create real, lasting change. Therapy with me is about learning how to shift your focus to the here and now; towards what strengthens you, rather than what drains you. I am a trauma-informed, relational, collaborative provider and when working with me, clients can expect a combination of compassionate challenging, emotional attunement and a warm, supportive presence. I am passionate about my work with teens, young adults and adults facing challenges like anxiety, depression, ADHD, life transitions, relationship struggles, self-esteem issues and trauma. I also specialize in EMDR, Brainspotting and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy and often incorporate a blend of modalities in treatment, depending on each client’s unique needs. If you’re ready to step into the next version of yourself, I’d love to be part of your journey. Let’s get started.
Dude, life be lifing, huh? You are SO not alone in that. Living in late-stage capitalism is enough for all of us to go to therapy. Your unique experiences and circumstances shape how you move through the world and navigating them can be burdensome. The good news? You don't have to keep pretending everything is okay. Here, you don't have to perform, filter, or pretend. I offer a relaxed, approachable space where you can show up exactly as you are, and I'd be honored to exist in that space with you.
I work best with students who are high-achieving, thoughtful, and often putting a lot of pressure on themselves to succeed. Many of the students I support feel anxious, overwhelmed, or burned out, even when things look “fine” on the outside. I also work closely with students from multicultural backgrounds who are navigating identity, family expectations, or a sense of not fully belonging. I have extensive experience supporting students who have been impacted by trauma, including sexual assault, relationship violence, and other difficult life experiences. I spent four years working at the Office of Victim Assistance at CU Boulder, and I bring a steady, compassionate approach to creating a space where students feel safe, supported, and in control of their healing process.

To speak of one’s experience can open the door to self-examination and potential change. By giving voice to thoughts that are otherwise left unsaid, it’s possible to both articulate one’s pain and find ways out of suffering. As a clinician, I seek to give each individual room to speak freely and openly about their experience of life, without offering prescriptive solutions to unique concerns. My clinical approach is primarily psychoanalytic and psychodynamic, where I invite people to speak of their experience without censoring their thoughts, leaving room for the expression of something unexpected. I also draw from other practices, including cognitive behavioral therapy and narrative therapy, if they suit a particular client or situation. Just as each individual is different, so is every treatment.

College can be disruptive and difficult. I am here to support you as you navigate the challenges and opportunities that arise in this season of life. I want to help you live your most meaningful life. I will work with you to deeply explore who you are, what you truly want, and what past beliefs or experiences may be holding you back from your growth. Together, we will uncover the ways in which you may have abandoned parts of yourself over time. Using masks or personas as a means of survival can damage you on a core level, reinforcing the false belief that you are not enough as you are. But the truth is: you are enough. Let’s examine the events, people, and circumstances that have wounded your sense of self, so you can reconnect with the authentic person you are. Therapy is a hero's journey that requires vulnerability, but the honesty you will find is profoundly liberating. If you are ready to begin this transformative work, I would be honored to meet with you for a free consultation to see if we’re a good match. If you have questions or want to learn more, please visit my website at www.theworkshoptherapy.com, or feel free to reach out via phone at (206)920-7168 or email.
