I feel it is my responsibility to be flexible in meeting the needs of all clients who come to me for therapy. Together we will discover the style of learning that best suits you in order to create an environment safe enough to address the concerns which bring you to therapy at this time. I am is a bicultural therapist, mother and wife who is passionate about supporting my clients while they navigate their unique life, relationships, and transitions. I was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia. I have a BA in Psychology and a master’s degree in Somatic Counseling Psychology from Naropa University. I am trained in trauma-based therapy and EMDR. I can support you both in English and Spanish. As a somatic therapist, I believe in the phenomenal connection between body and mind. I work to help her clients understand and establish a close relationship with their bodies. My somatic training supports the healing process by helping clients understanding how tuning into the nervous system alone can generate more wellbeing in daily life. I work with families, couples, children, teens and adults. As a therapist, I advocate and work with people of diverse backgrounds. My main lens is on the importance of how relationships shape who we are. I have experience working within various forms of attachment-based therapy and utilizes a trauma informed perspective to meet her clients where they are. My main purpose is to create a safe space to explore and unfold the process of self-discovery, healing, and growth. I am passionate about my clients and the specific supports they’re seeking and know how to apply my training at the level others can understand. When it comes to breaking down barriers, I believe in the power of understanding, exploring, and joining around challenges that can often lead to division and disconnection with self and others. In my work I find that it’s very important to feel seen and recognized in ways that are compassionate and respectful on all accounts. I like to laugh a lot and finds that rushing into things or placing timelines on major life processes can sometimes be unrealistic in the therapeutic setting. In my eyes I see that each of us has a unique understanding around our own timing and rhythm in the world, especially when challenged with life transitions. Offering therapy online.

I have 30 years of working with adolescents and young adults. My approach to therapy is founded in the value of the therapeutic relationship. It is very important my clients feel heard and validated with a sense of security as they explore their experiences of both suffering and success. I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidenced based psychotherapy treatment to help improve communication with others, reduce fears and phobias, interrupt thoughts that lead to addictive or other self-destructive behaviors, improve self esteem and change negative thought patterns. Hello, I'm Mercy, a mother and a wife. Life is a continuous journey that has no end until we take our last breath! While we partake in this journey, it is well known that it can be challenging. However, one has the power to ease the pain associated with this journey through understanding when help is needed, seeking the help, and being open to accepting the support. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Colorado in 2006 and my master’s degree in counseling in Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy from the University of Phoenix, Colorado Springs campus in 2012. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Colorado and Arizona. Over the course of my clinical career, I have worked and trained in residential treatment and community mental health centers including department of corrections and private practice. I consider myself a lifelong learner and crave learning new information. Due to my intensive training in Marriage and Family Therapy in graduate school, I have made this area my primary passion and focus. I have participated in extensive postgraduate training in addictions. However, I also greatly enjoy providing individual and group counseling for children and adults who are looking for support with more mild life stressors such as depression, anxiety, parenting education, health and wellness, and behavioral struggles. I specialize in family relationships, multicultural/diversity issues, grief/bereavement, depression, anxiety, anger management, and spirituality. I approach my work with a sense of humor, respect, humility, and honesty. I am honored to join my clients in their individual journeys towards wellness, leading to their brighter future. If you're ready to take the next step on your journey, I would be honored to support you along the way. Let's work together to create a brighter future.
I spent much of my adult life working in Emergency Medicine as a Paramedic before going to the Physician Assistant program at Loma Linda University in Southern California. After graduating from there in 2018, I spent the past five years working in addiction medicine in a residential treatment program in Boulder, Colorado. Working in addiction medicine, I commonly assisted adult patients, of all ages, dealing with anxiety, depression, cravings, withdrawal symptoms and sleep challenges. Patients would often come to me wanting to reduce their amount of medications to just what was helpful and necessary and I would take a lot of pride in helping them achieve that goal. Genetic testing provides a helpful tool to initially choose, change or adjust a dose of a particular medication. I believe that it is important to meet an individual where they are in the healing process and to address the whole person rather than just the presenting problem or symptom. To address the “whole person” requires getting a detailed history and a partnership between patient and provider. Establishing such a partnership gives me great joy.

I have considerable experience working with your age group, both in my private practice and, previously, at CU’s counseling center. My primary goal is to help you achieve your full potential so that your college or graduate experience is one that is fulfilling and meaningful. I work best with clients who may appear to have it together on the outside while internally feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally exhausted. Many are navigating trauma, OCD, mood changes, identity exploration, or relationship stress. I especially enjoy working with LGBTQ+ clients and those looking for an authentic, supportive, and nonjudgmental space to better understand themselves and heal.
"My life looks completely different than I thought it would, and I don't know what to do with that." "I feel like I should be over it by now, but I'm not." "I'm tired in a way that sleep doesn't fix." "My mind won't stop, and I'm exhausted from trying to keep up with it." Whatever brought you here, you don't have to figure it out alone. Naming what's underneath the pain can be a relief in itself. From there, we can begin listening to what's in your heart — clarifying what you value and hope for — and working together toward the changes that bring healing, meaning, and joy. I am passionate about working with those navigating anxiety, depression, trauma — including spiritual trauma — grief, and health-related challenges. The relationship we build is the foundation of this work. I use a person-centered, trauma-informed approach with CBT, bringing warmth and deep respect for your story. Your goals and your pace guide the process. If this sounds like what you've been looking for, I'd welcome the chance to connect. Reach out by calling, texting, or sending an email to get scheduled for your first appointment.
Are you an overthinker? Do your emotions interfere with your relationships? Our human brains are fascinating in what they allow us to accomplish, but sometimes they can be our own worst enemy! Sometimes overwhelming emotions and unhelpful thoughts interfere with our lives and cause significant distress. I created my practice to help people "be okay when things are not okay." This is done using a person-centered dialectical-behavior therapy (DBT) approach to help you gain insight into yourself while providing you with the tools and encouragement to thrive instead of just survive. I want you to leave each session feeling validated and more confident in your ability to cope with life on life's terms! I also specialize in treating complex PTSD and am trained in EMDR.
Are you feeling depressed? Do you or a loved one struggle with substance use? Do you want to make changes, but find yourself doing the same thing over and over again and not know where to even start? Maybe you're at a loss on how to move forward. I can help you get unstuck and navigate complex issues. We all need strategies to focus on what matters most to us. My intention is to create a safe space for you to talk openly, feel understood, and unburden yourself from intense emotions. Together, we will develop a plan to move forward so that you can take the next steps towards healing and restoration.
In these difficult times, managing life's demands is often challenging. Anxiety, depression, and frustration may feel overwhelming and impossible to overcome. Seemingly obvious solutions often make it worse. For example, worrying about being anxious or avoiding anxiety arousing situations only increase the problem. However, there are effective coping strategies that help. I offer practical alternatives in a warm and supportive environment.
