We know it can be tough making the first step to find support. Our practice specializes in working with LGBTQ folks, including those in non-monogamous relationships and people living with HIV/AIDS. Our team currently consists of queer identified therapists and we will help you lay the groundwork to make positive changes that will serve to enrich your life. We work collaboratively with our clients on identifying changes they want to see in their lives and taking steps towards those changes. Do you find you struggle with self confidence? Do you often feel dysphoric about your gender? Our team can help.
My practice has always been focused on serving the BGLTQ+ Community, especially trans & gender diverse people, and polyamorous people. I tend to see a lot of geeky and neurodivergent people. My work as a therapist is informed by early training in both psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral therapy for anxiety disorders and depression, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy. My approach draws from the applications of mindfulness and self-compassion in psychotherapy, as well as feminist approaches such as Relational-Cultural therapy. Ultimately, I believe it is the relationship that heals, as well as learning to be a kind friend to oneself. I believe that good mental health means knowing you have choices and making them consciously (not which choices you make). (Please note if contacting me: it will save time if you include your insurance company and whether HMO or PPO.)
If you have come here to find a counselor, please know I consider it an honor and privilege to hear your story. As a licensed mental health counselor, I bring experience with college age, adult and senior populations in order to provide a supportive, encouraging and safe confidential space. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, social challenges, college transition, family independence, trauma, family conflict, relationship conflict, grief, infertility, separation/divorce, codependency, boundaries work, life transitions, career development, work-place challenges, sport-related issues, obsessive thoughts, unwanted ruminating thoughts, peer relationships, spirituality and more. Notes about my approach: 1. I consider you the expert on your life. I aim for our sessions to be respectful, with the belief that you know the details and dimensions of your life in far greater depth than anyone. This is why I find it utmost important to continuously work to help you help us to know what feels like it fits. 2. You are in the driver’s seat. I believe we each inherently know when we are ready to approach topics or issues. We will work together to discover those in a manageable, safe and healing way. 3. I know it will take time to get to know and trust each other. I think this is ok and good. As we go, we will learn how to best utilize our sessions in in the most helpful, hopeful way.

Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, identity exploration, or the stressors of daily life, therapy offers a space to feel grounded, supported, and seen. As a pre-licensed mental health counselor, I provide both individual and couples therapy for adolescents, teens, college students, and adults. I believe that while I bring training and clinical knowledge, you bring the wisdom of your lived experience—your values, your identities, and your goals. Together, we work toward meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you. I am trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Person-Centered Therapy. I often integrate these modalities to support clients struggling with anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma and PTSD, panic disorder, identity development (including sexuality, gender, culture, and personal interests), relationship concerns, and performance-related stress. With a background as a professional soccer player, I also have a special passion for working with athletes and performers, helping them build emotional resilience and navigate both mental health and performance pressures. Wherever you are in your process—whether you’re seeking healing, clarity, growth, or grounding—I’d be honored to walk alongside you.

My goal is to help you experience your true self to fully engage your life. (See drchirban.com or cambridgecounseling.com) My specializations include relationships, sexuality, and spirituality. I also assist individuals and families working through divorce and serve as a Guardian ad litem for the State of Massachusetts. I am an open therapist who believes that the therapeutic process is a collaboration between therapist and patient/client. Those with whom I have worked have described me as warm, empathic and woke.

We provide insight-oriented, relational-talk therapy via telehealth to college students, graduate students, and couples. Our mission is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where reflection is encouraged, insight is cultivated, and empowerment is attained.
Therapy is a unique space to explore and organize your internal emotional experiences, feel more satisfied in your interpersonal relationships, better manage and tolerate a broad range of emotions, and experience new ways of relating more meaningfully to yourself and others. Through carefully exploring your emotional and relational experiences, both past and present, you may develop a deeper sense of self-understanding, wholeness, and a renewed capacity for joy and purpose. I work from a primarily relational and psychodynamic orientation, though I am flexible in engaging with the specific needs of each client. My work is informed by a commitment to social justice and an attunement to the many social realities that influence trauma and distress. I seek to honor your multiple intersecting identities and actively explore the interaction of these with my own and within the larger culture. My goal is for clients to experience a deeper sense of safety and healing. I have 12 years of expertise working with adults experiencing trauma, anxiety and depression, adjustment and life transition issues, identity concerns, relational conflicts, spiritual and/or religious issues, and grief and loss. In addition to working with both MA- and CA-based clients in my private practice, I work as a psychologist at UCLA. Prior to this, I completed my postdoc fellowship at Boston College University Counseling Services and worked as a staff psychologist there for 3 additional years, so I thoroughly enjoy working with BC students. I look forward to connecting with you!
