I have worked with many students who, initially, have been hesitant to talk with a professional. School can be a stressful time. In addition to managing any mental health issues you might be experiencing, you also feel pressure to do well academically, or have anxiety about your career, or be unhappy with friendships on campus and feeling alone, or having difficulty adjusting to the increased demands on their time or to the new environment. I work with students who are struggling in these areas, and have extensive experience working specifically with college and graduate school students, so I understand both the unique challenges and common stressors you're facing. In addition, I have specific expertise in helping young adults navigate dating and romantic relationships in the college setting. In fact, my doctoral project focused on understanding how young adults experience hookup culture. My goal is to help clients reduce anxiety, manage depression and bipolar disorders, resolve relationship issues, navigate difficult life transitions, and maintain healthy habits and lifestyles. Many people feel overwhelmed and lost, unhappy in their situation but unable to make positive change or find satisfaction in life. They rely on old habits to feel better such as avoidance by overworking or isolating, escaping through technology or substances, or being self-critical in hopes this will force themselves to change. In individual therapy I help my clients understand how their past has shaped their present, identify immediate and future goals, learn healthy ways to cope and grow, and find meaning in their lives. I also have a specific interest in helping people understand patterns in their relationships and improving their connections with others.
I became a therapist to provide support and affirmation to folks with systemically oppressed identities (e.g., trans and queer folks, ADHDers, kinksters, chronically ill/disabled folks, POC, cis women). I am dedicated to working with individuals facing interpersonal, life, and identity-related challenges, such as navigating gender roles and emerging adulthood (college and grad students welcome!). I collaborate with clients on a variety of concerns, such as anxiety, relationships/dating, boundaries, difference in views/beliefs from family of origin, and imposter syndrome. In my work, I use approaches such as Relational-Cultural Therapy (RCT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support clients. Inevitably, life presents difficulties, and can be challenging for many different reasons. Sometimes the things that bring people to therapy are very specific: perhaps a major life transition has become overwhelming, or certain patterns within a relationship are starting to take a toll. Pressures in some particular setting, whether it is at school, at work, or at home, may be feeling too difficult to navigate alone. Other times, people come to therapy a little less certain, feeling confused and unsure about where their life is headed, wanting something more. It’s not always easy to answer the question, “What brings you here?” People tend to doubt their inner strengths, and don’t quite realize how many resources they in fact possess. I have found that, though conversation with a trusted person, people can more easily identify and then build on those strengths. In my work with children, we often talk about expanding their “toolbox,” so that they have the skills to better manage overwhelming emotions and navigate complicated social situations. With teenagers and young adults, we often find ourselves talking about questions of identity development - the process of learning about who we are, how we got there, and what we want for ourselves moving forward. I see growth and development as a lifetime process, and, in my work with adults, we address all these issues in increasingly varied and complex ways, while also working together to navigate complex challenges presented by a world that can be arbitrary and unfair. My past experiences, doing individual and family therapy with people of all ages, of diverse backgrounds, and difficult, sometimes traumatic histories and life circumstances, have engendered within me a core belief that with the right support and collaboration, it is possible to make meaningful and long-lasting changes.

Many of the students can sometimes feel anxious, overwhelmed, or emotionally exhausted—even when they’re keeping up with classes on the outside. You might notice low motivation, self-doubt, or that small things feel harder than they used to. Some students reach out during times of transition, like starting or leaving college, changing majors, questioning identity, or feeling unsure about what comes next. Others want support processing difficult past or recent experiences that still affect their mood, focus, or sense of stability. I also work with a variety of students. Some managing stress, anxiety, navigating trauma, or are managing physical or ongoing health concerns causing them to feel the emotional weight that comes with it. Balancing school, expectations, and your own well-being can be especially tough when your body isn’t cooperating. In therapy, we’ll focus on both talking things through and building practical tools you can use in daily life. Sessions are collaborative and goal-focused, helping you better understand what’s going on while also finding ways to feel more steady, confident, and supported. You don’t need to have the “right” reason to start therapy—if something feels off or heavy, that’s enough.
