Licensed Professional Counselor
Harwich, MA

I work with Students at all leveles and my approach is both flexible and eclectic. I often use Brief Intermittent Therapy. I find that it works best for people to come in for a defined brief period of time (such as 6-8 weeks) and focus on one specific area that needs attention; the time in therapy is more concentrated and effective. When the need arises, I welcome clients back for a "tune up." My clinical work with students and families began in the early 1990’s. Much of my career has centered on helping kids in school settings. I also work with teachers and staff. I have successfully supported clients during times of crisis, transition, and struggle. I can help with anxiety, depression, peers, LGBTQ+ issues, and post-concussion support. I invite you to reach out and see if we would work well together. I am equally comfortable working via teletherapy or in-person therapy. My office is located in Harwich Center on Cape Cod. I'm happy to discuss what works best for you. Call or email Bonnie Jackman to schedule a free 15 minute consultation My Practice at a Glance Bonnie Jackman, LICSW 11 Pleasant Lake Ave Harwich, MA 02645 774-408-6164

I worked in multiple college counseling centers and athletic departments around the country prior to heading into private practice. My Approach & Values Hope and the belief that it’s possible to recover are the foundation of the work I do. You deserve and can expect a full recovery. Keep in mind that medications are not the only modality available to treat mental illness. Many don’t experience full remission of symptoms with the available psychopharmacological treatment alone. However, there is empirical data that shows the efficacy of augmenting medication with psychotherapy and lifestyle changes. Simple changes aid individuals in regaining a meaningful life, even when recovery stalls. The goal is to gain control of your life back with emphasis on managing symptoms and building resilience. Some thoughts to keep in mind include the questions listed below. - How can we move forward? - What new goals could be set? - How can we get your new life back on track? - Can we work together to develop your support system? - What skills can you learn to cope with periods of crisis?

I provide a safe, open environment to talk about any and all experiences or feelings. Some clients come for help through a short time period, or want to look at longer term issues and to make changes in their lives. Sometimes, it is simply to talk with an unbiased, nonjudgmental listener. Whichever it may be, I am privileged to take the journey with you. I will understand you as as a whole person, rather than a series of symptoms and diagnoses. I will pay attention to your background, your strengths, and the way we work together in addition to the presenting problem/s. I have worked in a variety of settings in the area, from several college counseling centers, community mental health facilities, and private practice. I draw upon this diverse training and experience to work with my clients.

I enjoy working with young adults who are transitioning into more independence and finding what resonates for them as far as careers, family, friends, fun, and overall feelings towards themselves. I facilitate art therapy directives in session to help us find solutions to questions, feel better overall, self-soothe, augment self confidence, and have fun in the process of creating--because we are all creating our lives, all the time. College, whether undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral level, is a time of growth, hard work, and unknowns. Our therapy sessions are a comfortable and safe haven for what is important to you. You can expect to feel like you are in control of your life and your emotions, as well as feeling heard and validated in our sessions.
