Hello, welcome! I’m a clinical mental health counselor that provides a variety of modalities. I am certified in expressive arts. I also work with EMDR and CBT.
I am currently offering EMDR Intensive sessions to accelerate healing. I am a certified EMDR clinician, specializing in trauma and attachment work. I value the therapeutic relationship and believe that clients need to feel safe enough in therapy in order to dig deep and do the work. While I work with adolescents through adulthood, I work primarily with women ages 18-50.
I help college students who are struggling with concerns related to their purpose in life, grief, loss, life transitions, stress related to social, personal or academics. Helping you find meaningful solutions, providing you with resources and tools to find light and hope in those challenging life seasons.
My therapeutic approaches are insight-oriented and supportive psychotherapy as well as using solution-focused and problem-solving models. As a therapist trained in Internal Family Systems, I incorporate mind-body-spirit techniques to help you better understand your challenges and to shift perspectives. I have experience working in MA, IL, and WA in community mental health clinics, hospitals, and on a college campus. For the past 15+ years, I’ve seen students and working professionals at my private practice in Boston area. I enjoy supporting clients from a variety of backgrounds including cultural, linguistic, sexual orientation, education, disability, and socioeconomic status. Please inquire about current availability and set up a free 15-20 min. phone consultation; I look forward to hearing from you and potentially having the opportunity to work together. Please note: all my sessions are conducted via telehealth and I’m able to meet with clients who are physically located in MA.
These are extremely challenging times; especially for college students. If you are struggling with emotions and thoughts related to all the changes you are experiencing, it might help to find someone to talk to. My approach to therapy is very casual, natural, non judgmental, collaborative and interactive.
Many people come to therapy feeling disconnected from their bodies, their relationships, or a clear sense of who they are... old wounds can show up through self-doubt, overthinking, numbness, or a feeling of not quite belonging. My clients are often introspective, sensitive, or creative souls that come to me during times of transition, burnout, relationship challenges, recovery from addiction, or when seeking a deeper connection to themselves and their purpose. Our therapy process will invite you to slow down, listen inwardly, and repair the hurt that restricts your vitality and authentic self-expression. I specialize in integrative therapy that blends relational talk therapy with body awareness, breath, inner child work, and earth-based practices. I draw from IFS, somatic therapies, psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches, while also incorporating ACT and CBT to support aligned action. My approach is non-pathologizing and collaborative. Our work will effectively move you towards: greater clarity and confidence in your choices; Emotional resilience and self-compassion; A more authentic connection to yourself and others; A sense of wholeness, direction, and purpose. If it feels like we could be a fit, I would love to hear from you. Reach out to schedule an initial session.
Welcome! I’m Lauren Cohen, a licensed independent clinical social worker, and I’m so glad you’re here. A bit about me: I’m a Los Angeles native, and a White, Jewish, cis-gendered (she/her) clinician. I am open about these parts of my identity when we work together - and strive to create a space where all of your parts always feel seen and welcome. I’ve always been fascinated by emotions, relationships, and behavior. My love for learning about different people has taken me to over 25 countries. Traveling has given me a profound understanding of human nature, “sameness”, and also the vast complexities of different cultures. Outside of sessions, I love creating pottery, being in nature, a good sunset swim, & trying new foods with my family and friends. I approach therapy with a dynamic and evolving perspective, tailoring my methods to meet your unique needs. Psychodynamic theory, Attachment theory, and Mindfulness are foundational to my work, and I am also a Level 1 trained therapist in Internal Family Systems (IFS). IFS allows us to explore the different “parts” of your identity, by uncovering truths and developing your own inner healer. I believe healing comes from building a trusting relationship between mind and body, and creating space for your authentic self to emerge. Meditation and breathwork are often utilized to connect you with your mind’s eye and core self. My approach to therapy is warm, kind and playful. I have a deeply non-judgmental attitude, providing a space where you can feel safe and supported as we navigate the complexities of your inner world. I also embrace the deeper, darker aspects of self, recognizing that these parts of your experience can hold wisdom and strength - the shadow is always welcome in our work.
There are times in life when we all need extra support and it can be difficult to ask for help. By reading this, you have already taken the first step. Let’s work together to process the hardships you are faced with in order to improve your mental health and emotional well-being. I believe humans are innately resilient and I am here to provide you with a safe and non-judgmental space to help you recognize your strengths and ability to cope. This will be an investment in yourself because you are worth it. I am currently accepting new clients and welcome the opportunity to work together.
