Therapists for college students near Ann Arbor, MI
I have been a Clinical Psychologist for over 23 years and have both the educational and work experience to treat children, adolescents, adults, and families. I often build trust and rapport quickly, while instilling hope and optimism. Therapy is performed both in person and tele therapeutically, helping to ameliorate symptoms and improve overall functioning in those that I serve. Clients will tell you that I am nonjudgmental, open minded, approachable, live by Christian values and I am respectful of all people. I continue to work hard to be an ally, learning from others as they learn from me. Leaning on my extensive experience helping parents and being a parent myself, I apply structural family therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy as we work on their parental effectiveness, active listening, behavioral management, co-parenting, and affective expression. I really enjoy and have found success in performing couples counseling and often have evening hours that make it easier for both partners to get into therapy consistently. For years, clients have felt relaxed and heard in the sessions, making continuing therapy seamless for many. Regarding diagnoses, I have helped ameliorate symptoms for clients with ADHD, Anxiety, Bipolar, Depression, GAD, PTSD, OCD, ODD, and adjustment disorders, etc.. I have some experience with substance abuse diagnoses, but only secondary as this is not my expertise. Currently, I am accepting the following insurances: Aetna, BCBS, Blue Cross Complete, BCN, McLaren, Mclaren Medicaid, Medicare, Michigan Medicaid, Molina, Multiplan, Optum, and PHP (Out-Of-Network coverage). Finally, being located near East Lansing, I am in a prime location for college students and have helped many with a broad range of issues and have had many clients state that they have had therapists in the past, but have felt more connected to, listened to, and made more progress herein.

College was a tricky time for me. It was a time of loss, big decisions, and anxiety. I really needed all the support I could get. I remember it well and was really close to quitting. Fast forward many years, as I've learned some incredibly useful therapy skills as an adult, I hope to pass these skills on to those that are in search of them. We are all imperfect humans and we can all benefit from the skills of self-compassion and therapy, even if it is simply to understand ourselves better then make life decisions based on that new information. If you're interested in creative ways to approach therapy, particularly with art therapy and mindfulness-based approaches, I'd love to work with you. I work through a platform called Headway to help you use your insurance (more insurance options to come in the near future).

I made it through all the trials and tribulations, graduated with Honors, and I am here to help you navigate your struggles and help you continue to pursue your dreams! If you are struggling with daily college life, are experiencing debilitating mental health issues, or are trying to power through chronic pain and/or illness to acquire your college degree and make your dreams come true I am here to help you on your journey!

I have worked with clients from many different backgrounds across the lifespan who are suffering, lost, or just looking for a place to talk. Most commonly, I have worked with people who are struggling with anxiety, depression, OCD, family struggles, relationship stress, and life transitions. As a therapist, I take an approach that is individualized and client-centered. I develop a treatment plan collaboratively with my clients based on their expertise of their own lives. I draw my interventions from behavioral approaches and frequently incorporate self-compassion work with clients. Through my undergraduate and graduate studies, I learned a lot about human behavior. Through my clinical experience and in my own journey, I learned a lot about healing. I am so grateful to serve others through this work every day.

Jazmin Guy is a compassionate and grounded therapist who believes that you are the expert on your life. Her role is to walk alongside you—offering insight, encouragement, and reflection to help you reconnect with your truth and move toward healing. With a blended approach rooted in holistic practices, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and spiritual exploration, Jazmin works with individuals navigating major life transitions, unresolved childhood trauma, postpartum shifts, grief, and the often-overwhelming process of self-discovery. She also supports parents in redefining their identity and finding balance in their evolving roles. Her direct yet nurturing style helps clients get to the heart of their pain, making space for clarity, transformation, and growth. Clients often describe Jazmin as warm, intuitive, and refreshingly honest. Her welcoming energy makes it easier to be vulnerable, and her dependability provides a safe container for meaningful change. “I’ve always been deeply curious about what shapes us—the experiences, beliefs, and stories we carry. Therapy is a place to unpack those pieces and build a new, empowered narrative.” Jazmin’s mission is simple: to hold space, reflect truth, and support you in creating realistic expectations—for yourself, your relationships, and your healing journey.
Lisa Olivera inspired me when she stated, “Just because no one else can heal or do your inner work, does not mean you can, should, or need to do it alone.” We all heal in different ways, and I value the importance of meeting a client where they are at in their healing journey, remaining patient every step of the way. I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to heal in a safe space, alongside someone who can guide and teach them along the way. As a therapist I am dedicated to creating a safe space for all of my clients, working collaboratively with each individual as they work towards their current goals while ensuring a consistent, non-judgmental environment is maintained. I am a LLMSW with prior work experience in private practice and family preservation. I utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities and interventions, including but not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Motivational Interviewing. I am committed to ensuring my clients feel that their voices have been heard, while guiding them towards recognizing their full potentials.
