Therapists for college students near Ann Arbor, MI
My goal is to create a place for you to be open and honest without judgment. This is critical as counseling is a personal journey. I understand fully the pressures/struggles that life places in our paths. I actively listen to what you want to achieve and work diligently alongside you toward making that a reality.
I support individuals who find themselves stuck in the space between striving for perfection and just getting by. To the outside, you might look like you're holding it together, but inside something feels off. You find yourself staying busy to distract from your thoughts and emotions. Or on the other end, you numb out, stare at your phone, just sitting on the couch not really paying attention to anything. You are tired of playing out the same patterns. You know you are meant for more than this. Constantly pushing through is exhausting, and breaking that cycle alone can feel overwhelming. When you're ready, reach out, and we can decide how to take those first steps together.
I love working with young adults exploring independence and transitioning into new life experiences. I have experience working with anxiety and depression, general transitions, family discord, relationship issues, and perinatal work.
My name is Kristen and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker offering telehealth therapy for teens and young adults in Ohio, North Carolina, and Michigan struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, or school issues. Together we will work together to achieve the goals you've set for yourself through honest dialogue, empathetic understanding, and maybe even a little laughter. Thank you for considering me in your journey! Let's get started.
I work with college students and young adults experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship and attachment concerns, trauma, grief and loss, burnout, self-esteem challenges, and major life changes. Whether you're working through past experiences or trying to better understand yourself in the present, I strive to create a supportive, compassionate space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered. As a strength-based therapist, I believe every person has the capacity for growth, resilience, and healing. I see each client as a unique individual whose experiences have shaped them but do not define them. My approach is grounded in authenticity, respect, and meeting you where you are—without judgment. I believe healing happens through genuine connection and in relationships where people feel safe enough to be themselves. Together, we'll explore your strengths, develop practical coping skills, and work toward creating a life that feels more balanced, meaningful, and aligned with your goals and values. I am a Licensed Limited Master Social Worker (LLMSW) and have worked in the field of social work since 2010. I am an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist and welcome students and individuals of all backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences.
TahLeekah Partee-Young is a licensed clinical social worker. TahLee's journey began in 2006, while employed at a mental health clinic. While serving in a different capacity, frequent interactions with clients cultivated a new calling. TahLee decided to enroll in Western Michigan University to pursue her Master's Degree in Social Work. In hindsight, TahLee could clearly recognize her gift with people early on. Providing encouragement, holding stories in confidence and providing comfort and validation to others, have always been inherent. Heal-Encourage-Motivate (HEM) LLC is a reflection of this revelation. TahLee has been in the field as both a generalist and substance abuse counselor for approximately 12 years. She worked in many outpatient settings and facilitated groups, performed assessments, practiced individual therapy and crisis management. Client populations range from adolescents (15 and up) to adults with chronic mental health and social issues. CURRENTLY, TahLee is interested in working with individuals who seek treatment for the following: -Anxiety -Depression -Codependence/boundary issues -Relationship difficulties -Major phase of life changes that disrupt normal level of functioning -Children/Spouse of those with alcohol or substance dependence - Ages 15 and up

Fellow believes that by mobilizing our shared human experiences we can undo feelings of aloneness that lay at the core of our distress. When we do this, we find greater connection with ourselves and others.

When life goes differently than anticipated you may be left grieving, feeling disconnected from life, or from yourself. You deserve to have a compassionate space to process and honor your experiences. Together, we'll explore the narratives woven through your life, understanding how past experiences continue to shape your present reality. We will reconnect you to your power, build resiliency, and learn to use your voice to live your life more authentically. With a relationship built with trust and compassion, you're invited to explore your deepest truths, express your fears, and bravely write a new story for your life. Therapy is a collaborative journey, and your voice, experiences, and perspective are central to our work together. Depending on your needs, we'll examine how family, gender, culture, and social expectations have influenced your sense of self, relationships, and aspirations. I draw from a variety of frameworks including Feminist, Narrative, and Family Systems. Reaching out is hard. If it scares you, you're not alone. You may try considering if your fear is saying "now's not the right time" or if its something more akin to "what will this change in my life". Curiosity, excitement, & the adrenaline of taking "the next step" can feel scary. Whatever you decide, trust you're right on time in your own journey.
Life is a journey with many twists and turns. Along the way we experience some good things and some not so good things, but all life experiences make up who we are in this very moment. Everyone deserves to be able to tell their story and to be heard. I’m here to help support my clients so they have a voice and can determine their own life direction and meaning. I primarily use tools from cognitive behavioral therapies and mindfulness in working with substance abuse, addiction, depression, anxiety, anger management, ADHD/impulse control, and life transitions. I help individuals gain a deeper understanding of how motivation, executive functioning, and overall functionality affect their daily lives. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Michigan State University in 2011, and received my Master of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology and Graduate Certificate in Substance Abuse and Addiction from Western Michigan University in 2015.
