Hi! I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor dedicated to helping individuals improve their mental health and gain a sense of well-being . Often times, we aren't living in the present. We're either stressed, depressed, anxious, too busy looking back on the past, or lost in thought with hopes for the future. This leaves us losing the ability to enjoy the present, and the present is what ends up creating our future, as well as creating the moments we will one day look back on. Many of us could benefit from gaining the ability to be present, as well as gaining the ability to see other perspectives and regulate emotions and thoughts. Together we will address the challenges you face, uncover your strengths, and cultivate new coping skills to help you navigate life's difficulties while gaining a greater ability to celebrate and appreciate life's successes. Through therapy, I aim to equip my clients with the tools to regulate emotions, reduce anxiety, be more mindful, and effectively cope. It is truly an honor to provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where individuals can openly express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I’m excited you’ve decided to start this journey and I look forward to providing the guidance and help you deserve.

Beginning counseling can be an overwhelming process. At Sanctuary Counseling Group, we believe in creating therapeutic relationships with our clients that promote the healing of heart, mind, and soul. I believe that we are whole persons, with unique physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs, so I am committed to an eclectic approach to meet my clients where they are. The people that I work best with often experience anxiety and depression when faced with a quickly changing world and our place within it. I also have experience working with loss and grief which can affect us in so many different ways. My passion is helping individuals that want to navigate change, relationships, and their definition of self with confidence. I hope to provide you with the space explore your own personal growth and discovery. I see clients both virtually and in person. My practice is based in Charlotte. SCG does have therapists that offer 1x a month appointments in Boone but I am currently not one of those providers.

You're both reflective, and self-critical, constantly trying to prove yourself. The strive for perfection, and loud inner critic leave you feeling exhausted both physically and emotionally. You want to feel better, but don't know where to begin... Whether you're navigating anxiety, processing trauma, or you’re exploring your relationship with food and/or your body, I want you to know things can get better. My work focuses on empowering college aged and younger adult women as they begin to connect with who they are, clarify what is important to them, and cultivate a life where they feel fulfilled, connected, and energized. My approach is warm, relational, trauma informed, and direct. I use humor when appropriate, and encourage my clients to show up authentically. I integrate somatic (body) based interventions like gentle movement, breathwork, and ifs-parts work with cognitive approaches to help you better identify, understand, and work through your thoughts and feelings. My passion is helping women explore and improve their relationships with food, their bodies, and ultimately, themselves. Together we can explore the deep rooted narratives you hold, and work on building a new story that feels both empowering and tangible. I strongly believe we heal through safe connection, so if you're ready and willing, let's connect!

I specialize in working with college-age clients who grew up in chaotic or neglectful households. My clients often appear to have it all together- high-achieving, involved on campus, the friend everyone leans on. Despite this, they struggle with anxiety in relationships, fear of others' judgment, difficulty letting people get close, exhaustion that rest doesn't fix, and a sense of being lost or like an imposter, even when things look good on paper. Often, at the core of these struggles are unresolved wounds or narratives from early in life. During our most formative years, we adopt lasting beliefs about ourselves and the world- a blueprint we carry into adulthood. For many of my clients, that blueprint is resurfacing now, in the first real independence of college: new relationships, distance from family, and the pressure to figure out who they are outside of old roles. It shapes how they connect with roommates, partners, and friends, and how they handle the stress of exams, deadlines, and an uncertain future- often without their realizing it. These narratives, inherited from caregivers, family, or environment, become deeply ingrained and unconscious. While they may have helped us survive earlier in life, they can become counterproductive as we step into adulthood, creating invisible barriers to connection and well-being. Putting these thoughts into words in a safe space allows them to surface where they can be understood and rewritten.

I approach the therapeutic process with the belief that therapy is simply a human helping a human. By offering an objective and judgement free setting, my hope is to provide a space that offers freedom to share and feel without hesitation. I am a masters-level clinician; I earned a master of science degree in counseling and psychology from Troy University in 2016. I'm a client centered counselor with a passion to help empower individuals to gain knowledge, skills, and tools to work through their presenting problems. I aim to build a therapeutic alliance with my clients and create a safe, judgment-free atmosphere with the hope that they are able to openly explore their thoughts and feelings. I believe in the power of knowledge and it's ability to impact healing and frequently apply psychoeducation into treatment. I'm a strength-based therapist and my overall theoretical orientation is integrative; it commonly includes utilization of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as well as behavioral and solution-focused techniques. I enjoy working with individuals who suffer from anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, relationship issues, and various life challenges. I'm happy to currently serve individuals 18+. I'm licensed in NC and SC. I'm also an out-of-state provider for the state of Florida allowing the option for telehealth for clients located in Florida at the time of service. Hello! Are you finding that college isn't quite what you thought it would be? I get it...it's a tough transition and a steep learning curve. Anxiety, homesickness, some grief, comparison, high expectations, new ways of communicating, living on your own, conflict with roommates, and that might only describe the first semester! There are then decisions to make about your interests, to study abroad or not, where to intern, what organizations and extracurriculars to get involved in, feeling too stretched for time and unable to manage all responsibilities well, the stress of a job or your athletic demands. You don't have to navigate this alone––I can help! I specialize in helping students navigate these issues and more through a lens of self-compassion, skill-building, and a sense of empowerment. These issues are not unique to you and you can learn to build resilience and tools that will help you now and in your future.
