Therapists for college students near 10003
I thought about listing all my education, training and clinical experience here but I don’t think that’s what you are truly interested in. I believe you want to know whether I would be a good person to work with, whether I can really understand what you are going through, whether you will feel safe talking to me, whether I know what I am doing, whether I am the right match for what you are seeking in therapy. All of those questions and concerns are absolutely valid and I know I was asking myself the same things before I started my own therapy many years ago. So maybe I will tell you a little bit about what it may be like working with me. I am a very active therapist who will get in the weeds with you. I will want to get to know you – who you are as a person, what is going really well in your life, what is missing, what you feel you would like to explore more or change, what your goals and dreams are and the obstacles that have prevented you from creating the kind of fulfilling life you deserve. I use humor often and we laugh a lot in my sessions. I aim to be authentic and honest while creating a warm and non-judgmental space for us to work in. I will be invested in your success and transformation – I get tremendous joy out of supporting my clients through their process of self-discovery and change. I will also challenge you to look at things that may make you feel uncomfortable and hold you accountable to achieving the goals we set up together. My specialties include anxiety, adjusting to college and stress related to academics or relationships, perfectionism, eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, binge-eating disorder) and disordered eating (including emotional eating, chronic dieting, excessive exercise, body image issues, binge eating, etc.). I want you to know that I am passionate about what I do and believe that therapy can truly be a transformative experience. Please reach out for a free 15-minute consultation to see if we are a good fit. I am excited to get to know you and work together to create lasting change in your life.

I am a married mother of two boys, which has provided me with additional insights and experience that influence my therapeutic skillset. I would like to support you in your overall mental and emotional wellness goals through the use of evidenced based practices while giving targeted feedback and therapeutic insights that will help you to better understand how to move closer to the person that you want to become.

I intend to help clients address their attachment and developmental trauma, often at the root of anxiety, depression, and other challenges, using NARM (NeuroAffective Relational Model). Its heartfelt approach utilizes the shared human experience to support the client’s development and growth. . Within the modality’s framework, I create a collaborative environment where clients can reconnect to their heart’s desire as we address internal obstacles. In our exploration, the client finds healthier ways of relating to their self and environment.
Students who find me most helpful are often trying to figure out who they are as separate but connected to their parents and family. I especially love working with first gen and immigrant students because I am both. I have lived and worked on four continents and English is actually not my first language, so students who are navigating intercultural issues also find it easy to connect with me. In terms of the kinds of issues students work with me on, it includes: depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship worries, fear of failure, and self esteem. I look forward to hearing from you!

You are not broken — you are human. And being human means facing change, pressure, and uncertainty — things that can feel especially heavy during college. Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed, questioning who you are or what’s next, or trying to balance school, family, and your own expectations. You don’t have to figure it out alone. Therapy can be a space to pause, reflect, and begin again — with support and intention. In our sessions, you’ll find a warm, understanding space where you can show up just as you are — no need to have it all together. My role isn’t to fix you, but to walk beside you. Together, we’ll explore what’s been weighing on you, reconnect you with your strengths, and find new ways forward that feel true to who you are. Every student’s story is different. That’s why I don’t believe in one “right” way to do therapy. Our work will be shaped by your needs, your culture, and your goals. Whether you’re coping with stress, adjusting to college life, dealing with family or relationship challenges, or trying to rediscover your sense of purpose, we’ll move at your pace. A big part of our work will be exploring three things: WHY – Why are you seeking change? PURPOSE – What gives your life meaning? PRIORITIES – What matters most to you right now? When we understand your why, purpose, and priorities, therapy becomes more than just talking — it becomes growth. Wherever you are in your process, you don’t have to walk it alone. I’m here to meet you where you are and support you as you find your way forward.
I have worked with college and graduate students for many years. Many have struggled with issues including low self esteem, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, learning disabilities, family conflict and socialization difficulties. I use a variety of therapeutic techniques ranging from traditional “talk” therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, hypnotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and EMDR, as needed. My primary goal is always to help the student to feel better, by gaining greater insight and understanding as to better ways to address their situation.

I have extensive experience working with individuals navigating addiction and recovery, depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions, and stress. I also incorporate DBT-informed coping skills—particularly mindfulness—which I’ve found to be powerful tools in both clinical work and everyday life. Together, we’ll focus on what matters most to you. I typically structure sessions around one or two main areas to help keep our work focused and meaningful. Treatment planning is a collaborative process, and I strive to make sure it aligns with your unique needs and goals. Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, and taking that first step is a brave decision. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can be heard, understood, and empowered. I believe in a patient-centered approach—working collaboratively to understand your goals, meet you where you are, and support you at your pace. If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to begin, I’d be honored to support you. Healing is possible, and you don’t have to do it alone.

I realize that the decision to start therapy is not an easy one. Being in therapy is both a challenging and rewarding experience that can help you achieve life goals and help you reduce stress, anxiety, and symptoms of depression. I consider it a privilege to work as a psychologist and to be a part of my clients’ lives. Prior to opening my private practice, I worked in a college counseling center for 6 years. I thoroughly enjoy meeting with college students and helping them navigate the challenges they are facing. Feel free to contact me by phone or email if you would like to set up a first appointment or learn more about my practice.

Welcome to Samadhi Mental Health Counseling. In our work together, I will use the therapeutic relationship to help expand your awareness, move toward acceptance and then deciding on an appropriate action. My role is to provide safety, security and honesty for you to use and explore what is most important in your life. Creating a healthy and balanced life where you encounter peace on a daily basis does not come without tremendous effort, insight, and a network of people who support your goals. As part of this balanced life, I routinely implement mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR) as a way to relate to your inner world in a more authentic way. Another option to help process experiences I implement is eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.
