When therapy is conducted in a safe and warm environment, and a client or couple or family feels heard and understood without judgment, it can be an incredibly powerful tool in providing healing and growth for life's difficult past experiences and current challenges. As a strengths-based and client-centered Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I work with a client's existing internal strengths to partner with them to create goals that build towards healing, growth, awareness, and positive change. My clinical experience and specialization has included Couples Therapy, CBT, EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy for individuals and couples, Trauma informed therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused, Family Systems Theory, and Attachment Theory. I work with couples, adults, adolescents, and families. Starting therapy can be overwhelming and anxiety producing. My goal is to immediately build a safe place and therapeutic connection with you, and remove some of the anxiety that can often be part of reaching out and pursuing counseling.

As both a licensed professional counselor and a licensed massage therapist, I deeply value the strength of a holistic approach to healing that incorporates the mind, the body, and the spirit. I am interested in the meaning we make about our experiences, how these beliefs crystalize into our physical form, and the divinity in all of us that transcends our personalities. I have seen time and time again that the deepest pain can be transformed into the compost of our most profound joys and spiritual awakenings. I offer individual sessions that include both counseling and embodiment practices to address developmental trauma, PTSD, stress, anxiety, depression, addictions, chronic pain/auto-immune disorders, and spiritual/energetic issues. My approach uses somatic (body-centered) awareness and mindfulness as a way to enhance traditional talk therapy and draws from the wisdom traditions of yoga and Buddhism, the biodynamic field of the human energy system, and somatic psychotherapy. I have worked in the mental health field since 2001 in a variety of settings, including psychiatric, drug treatment, and youth corrections. It was disheartening at the time to see in many ways how these facilities and institutions provided an environment that kept people in traumatic stress, and not necessarily the safety and connection that allowed for deeper healing to take place—there had to be another way. I had a passionate drive to follow the path of yoga, spirituality, touch, and the possibilities of being fully human. After attending massage therapy school to pursue a career in the healing arts, I realized how powerful both mind and body therapies are for holistic healing. I am a fervent learner and have specialized training in somatic psychotherapy and craniosacral therapy, as well as an extensive yoga and meditation practice which greatly influences my work. I look forward to accompanying you on a journey of healing and transformation.

Eudaemonia Equine Connections, Inc. (EEC Inc.)'s Equine-Assisted Mental Health (EAMH) Treatment for Stability and Wellness Clinical Program is a behavioral health program offering outpatient psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and groups. Equine-Assisted Mental Health (EAMH) is a specialized psychotherapy treatment that incorporates equines into the therapeutic environment. It is a form of animal-assisted therapy (AAT) that integrates the human–animal bond and relationship with a horse as part of treatment and recovery in psychotherapy. EAMH treatment is an interactive process in which a licensed mental health professional working with or as an appropriately credentialed equine professional partners with suitable equine(s) to address psychotherapy goals set forth by the mental health professional and the client. EAMH is all about learning how to communicate, interact, and connect with horses directly and indirectly during psychotherapy work. Horses are beautiful and novel creatures that may help reduce stigma of psychotherapy, reduce barriers of those who do not do well or do not want to participate in office-based therapy. In turn, they may help to normalize the therapy process through in-person physical interaction and presence with horses. Her approach is to create a safe and supportive environment, in addition to creating a therapeutic space where potential for healing, growth and self-transformations are possible through acceptance, warmth, respect, and collaborative participation with client treatment goals. Dr. Wara-Goss specializes in transpersonal psychology, humanistic and client-centered psychology, somatic and holistic psychology, psychosynthesis, animal-assisted therapy (AAT), equine-assisted services in mental health (EAMH), in addition to evidenced-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused (TF)-CBT, trauma work, solution-focused and strengths-based psychotherapies. In my practice I work with children, teens, and adults who are having a hard time understanding, communicating about, and coping with their emotions and experiences. Sometimes it helps to look at all these experiences – both positive and negative to help us gain a deeper understanding of ourselves. The relationships we have had throughout our lives are also deeply influential in shaping who we are and our current relationships. Therapy can be helpful in giving each person a greater sense and deeper understanding of who they are and how their relationships and experiences have impacted them. I am currently the director of the Oregon Psychoanalytic Institute, I teach. train and supervise mental health professionals. Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy are different from other forms of counseling and psychotherapy in that the focus is not just on alleviating symptoms but on understanding and working through out of awareness conflicts, beliefs, fears and patterns that effect current difficulties. Psychotherapy works best in an unhurried atmosphere where sessions are regular and frequent.
