Hello! I am a psychologist who enjoys supporting college-age individuals in a variety of ways. In this season of life, academics and social activities can be common stressors, in addition to family and career issues. Students may be struggling with anxiety, depression, or other learning differences that affect them inside and outside the classroom. I enjoy brainstorming and helping young people access the resources they need, both on campus and in their community. I take a holistic approach to healthy living, and look closely at individual habits and behaviors. I also offer a faith-sensitive approach to individuals who would like to include spirituality or religion in their work. I meet with clients in person in our Chalfont and Chester Springs locations, as well as virtually in the 40+ states that participate in PsyPact (https://psypact.gov/page/psypactmap).

Since you’re here, you probably have questions that you are looking to answer, need guidance and support around your struggles and concerns, desire a safe space for exploration and development, or maybe a combination of these. So, how can I help? I am equipped to conduct psychological assessment to promote improved self-understanding and to help build a plan for support across life. Psychological evaluation offers a clear snapshot of functioning characterized by individual patterns, strengths, and needs across a variety of areas. Or if you are looking to secure a supportive environment that facilitates self-discovery, understanding, processing, and growth, I am well-suited to support those needs as well. My therapeutic approach is evidence-based and focuses on the whole person. I also offer a faith-sensitive approach for those who wish to incorporate faith and spirituality into their individual process. Whether you come seeking an evaluation or therapeutic support, I look forward to connecting with you! *Please note: Fees vary depending on therapy vs assessment. I also work between two offices. For now, I am in Chester Springs on Wednesdays with the possibility of Fridays. I am in Chalfont Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays with the possibility of Fridays. Please visit https://thecenterinpa.com or call the front office, 215-491-1119, for more information.

My name is Sarah and I am a therapist, coach and community organizer. I specialize in working with activists, organizers and politically left gen individuals who struggle with burnout, overwhelm and balance. You may be struggling with self-doubt, fear about the future and compassion fatigue. I can help with that. I work with individuals who are navigating trauma associated with living under capitalism. During our first few sessions together, we will begin to bridge the gap between your pain and systematic structures that impact you deeply. You'll begin to experience yourself as part of a whole community, not just an individual. Therapy with me will be political, restorative, healing and empowering.

*Due to the current Covid-19 crises, my practice is set up to see patients thru video conference calling which is HIPPA compliant for privacy. I believe that individual therapy is the bedrock of mental health change especially for personal issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship self esteem and emotional problems of living. Counseling with your therapist needs to be collaborative where clients sort out thoughts and feelings in order to get a better understanding of who they are. Counseling is completely different from person to person. One client may want more advice or suggestions. Another might want mostly to vent and to be heard. Still others may need to be challenged or confronted. In general, though, most therapists believe that counseling helps us understand thoughts and feelings about ourselves that we have not previously fully recognized. Sigmund Freud referred to this process as making that which is unconscious conscious. I trust that clients know deep down what should be talked about in therapy and that they mostly need help knowing how to access these thoughts and feelings in order to realize what it is they want and need from others and their lives. My approach is eclectic or integrative, but I use many behavioral and cognitive-behavioral approaches in my work. I am particularly interested in evidenced-based and best practices approaches to treatment and so I continually challenge myself to learn newly refined techniques and approaches and provide each patient with the best of my learning over 30 years of practice in multiple settings. I am humanistic and client centered as well and and have found that it often helps patients to know that their therapist is a regular, genuine and authentic individual who is dedicated to my profession and feels that much can be learned from the relationship of therapy. Many clients come to a therapist’s office because they are struggling in their relationships. Paying attention to how your relationship develops in the office can help you understand how really important social interactions in your life outside of the therapeutic relationship actually work.

I'm excited you're here! Therapeutic relationships can be an incredibly powerful resource for accessing your truth, increasing self-love, and healing through connection. My aim as a therapist is to foster a safe, nonjudgmental space that supports clients in divesting from narratives of self-pathology, rewriting their stories in empowering ways, and in feeling more grounded and more joyful in their daily lives. My practice is rooted in a social justice frame and a belief that symptoms are most often related to the trauma of lived experiences of oppression and discrimination, not due to internal failing. I work with clients who need help managing anxiety, exploring identity, managing life transitions, managing symptoms of trauma, and undoing internalized white supremacy. I offer a politicized lens and believe in the connection between relational healing and collective liberation. I intend for therapy to be an affirming, healing and celebratory space. For those pursuing gender affirming surgeries or HRT, I'm happy to provide letters for your insurance/surgeon. I identify as White, queer, trans, nonbinary, fat, and neurodiverse (ADHD). As of August 2025, I have availability for virtual clients. Please feel free to reach out - I’d love to chat about potentially working together!

Welcome! Your courage to work towards a better you is commendable. When starting out in therapy, our focus will be on developing a therapeutic relationship based on trust. I approach sessions with empathy and compassion in a nonjudgmental space where you may ask yourself, "What do I want from this experience?" I can support you through addressing current/past hurt and be present with you as emotions come up. I will be with you as you explore the internalized narratives that influence your functioning and wellbeing. I believe therapy should be an empowering process, in which your strengths are highlighted. I consider multicultural systems and identities in my framework for treating adolescent and adult clients within the contexts that matter most to them. I have specialized interests in serving college and graduate students; multiracial/multiethnic identifying clients; clients who identify as racial minorities; LGBTQIA+ clients and women. Prior to transitioning to private practice, I worked as a counselor at Immaculata University's Counseling Center. During my time there, I supported students in navigating the college experience and its nuances. This included, but was not limited to, supporting students experiencing homesickness; supporting first generation college students; supporting students' challenges with perfectionism; supporting students navigating identity development; supporting students of color in navigating a predominantly white campus; supporting students with time management; supporting neurodivergent students; supporting seniors in navigating anxiety around graduation etc.
