Therapists for college students near Austin, TX
Hello! I am a proud Hispanic Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience in the social service field and 3 years practicing therapy. I’m also certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and I’m passionate about providing support that is compassionate, practical, and culturally grounded. Mental health is essential for everyone, and I believe it holds a special importance within the Hispanic community where stigma can sometimes make seeking help difficult. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming space where healing and growth are possible for all.
Reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step, especially when you're carrying stress, uncertainty, or emotional pain. My goal working with clients is to create a supportive, collaborative space where you feel seen, understood, and valued just as you are. I work with clients who are navigating life, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, identity exploration, etc. I take a strengths-based, relational approach to therapy, meaning I focus not only on the difficulties you're facing, but also on the resilience, insight, and abilities you already bring into the room. Together, we build on those strengths to foster growth, healing, and meaningful change. My work is grounded in the belief that healing happens through connection. I prioritize developing a genuine, trusting therapeutic relationship where clients feel safe to explore their experiences at their own pace. I meet you where you are at! As someone who is half Turkish, I also value cultural identity, background, and lived experiences as essential parts of the therapeutic process. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply seeking greater self-understanding, therapy can be a place to find that and I would be honored to support you in that.

You're the one everyone counts on. You show up, you achieve, you hold it together — and somewhere underneath, you're exhausted and not sure why nothing feels like enough. Maybe you grew up translating for your parents, managing everyone's emotions, or learning early that needing things was inconvenient. Maybe you've never called any of that trauma, because it just felt like life. I work with high-achieving adults, adult children of immigrants, and couples who are tired of functioning well and feeling terrible. Together we get underneath the coping — the overworking, the people-pleasing, the hyper-independence — and into what your nervous system has been carrying all along. My approach is warm and direct. I'll reflect back what I notice, ask the harder question, and hold space for the parts of your story that don't have easy language yet. I use Brainspotting and EMDR alongside talk therapy, because some things live in the body and can't be reasoned through. I'm Surabhi Jagdish, LMFT-S, with over 12 years of experience. I see clients virtually across Minnesota, Texas, and Colorado.

You're a woman who grew up without the emotional nurturing you needed by having a distant parent, inconsistent caregiving, or years spent being the strong one. You desired love, but received mental and emotional pain from people you trusted. Now, these early wounds are showing up as anxiety, self-doubt, depression, overthinking, trauma-responses, relationship struggles, low self-esteem, or feeling disconnected and lost. You want peace, clarity, wholeness, and the ability to break generational patterns so you can show up fully, with purpose, and thrive in life as a woman, a partner, a parent, and/or a professional. I help women heal from the impact of childhood emotional wounds using a trauma-informed, faith-integrated approach. I work towards guiding women to rebuild self-trust, regulate emotions, strengthen relationships, and create an inner safety they've always deserved. I provide a therapeutic and transformational frame through individual, couples, and group work. You don't have to keep carrying these wounds alone. Healing is possible. It is time to experience a safe space where your story is honored without judgment. If you're ready for supportive work that helps you to feel whole again, I'd be honored to walk with you on this journey. Let's take the next step together.

At Severance Therapy, we’re proud to be a diverse collective of clinicians and staff—some of whom identify within the LGBTQIA+ spectrum, and others who are fierce, informed allies deeply committed to this community. What unites us is a shared dedication to providing affirming, culturally competent care in a space where authenticity is celebrated, not questioned. Many of our clinicians bring personal experience with addiction recovery, sexual identity exploration, and the complexities of queer life—from coming out and dealing with internalized stigma to navigating sobriety in a culture that often centers around substances. Others have spent their professional lives walking alongside queer clients and communities, engaging in continual learning, advocacy, and personal reflection to be the kind of allies who show up loudly and consistently. Our team includes LGBTQIA+ therapists and allied professionals from a range of racial, cultural, and gender identities. Some are in long-term recovery. Some are sex-positive and kink-aware. Some bring academic expertise, while others bring years of boots-on-the-ground experience in queer spaces, harm reduction, and sober living. Together, we offer a dynamic, compassionate, and deeply relatable therapeutic environment—because we know healing happens best when you feel seen, heard, and understood by people who truly get it. Starting therapy does not mean you are falling apart. Sometimes it just means you are ready to stop carrying everything alone. I work with college students and young adults who are trying to balance school, work, family, relationships, stress, anxiety, and everything else that comes with figuring life out. Some come to therapy feeling overwhelmed or burned out. Others are navigating trauma, self-doubt, relationship challenges, or patterns they are tired of repeating. I also enjoy working with BIPOC students, first-generation students, student veterans, service members, and military-connected students. Therapy with me is a space where you can be honest about what you are carrying, sort through what feels heavy, and feel like someone actually gets it. We can start wherever you are.
Let’s be honest—being a college student or young adult can feel like a lot. You’re expected to make big life decisions, manage responsibilities, and somehow have a plan for your future… all at the same time. It’s normal to feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of what you’re doing. You might be comparing yourself to others, questioning your path, or just trying to keep up day-to-day. The truth is, most people are figuring it out as they go—even if it doesn’t look like it. I work with young adults to create a space where you can be real. You don’t have to have everything together or know all the answers. Whether you’re dealing with stress, life transitions, or just feeling off, this is a place where you can talk things through without judgment. Together, we can make sense of what you’re going through, find ways to cope, and help you feel a little more grounded and confident moving forward. You don’t have to do this alone.
Let me first say, I am so glad you are taking the first step into improving your health. This is often the most difficult one. I have over 17 years of experience working with Children, Adolescents, and Adults diagnosed with ODD, OCD, ADD/ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Severe Mood Disorders, Military/Veteran transitions/reintegration, Stress Management, Tobacco Cessation, Weight Management, Chronic Condition/ Disease Management to name a few. Additionally, I am a Certified Case Manager, which means that I can help you to coordinate other healthcare needs you may have to help ensure that all of your healthcare providers are working collaboratively seamless together and in your best interest. I like to use an eclectic approach primarily combining Person Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, with Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, some Solution Focused Therapy, and Positive Psychology. As the client, it is important that you and your goals are always kept in the center of the work we do. Together we will collaborate on the goals you want to work towards that will lead you to the outcome you are striving for. College years are a transition period, whether you enter them right out of high school or later in life after a few years in the work force. As Maya Angelou once said, "Be the rainbow in someone's else's clouds". I would like to be that rainbow for you. I believe everyone has a toolbox of resources that they can reach into but at times we may not know which tool to use and when. Let me help you along your health journey to be even better and stronger than you are today.
Many people start thinking about therapy because, emotionally, they don’t feel good. Maybe your emotions end up taking you for a ride and you feel helpless to stop it. Emotions come and go, but they can sometimes feel endless, especially if they are intense. Or maybe you are struggling to get in touch with your emotions and you find it difficult to connect. Either way, what ends up making it worse is the power struggle we get into with our own emotions. We want to push away the ones that feel bad and force the ones that feel good, but that never works for long. Wouldn’t it be easier to avoid the power struggle completely?
