Have been looking for love in all the wrong places? Maybe you are super tired of swiping right but only ending up hurt. Is your anxiety at an all time high? Do you find it hard to concentrate on the things you have to do or find yourself reading the same line over and over again. What about that voice in your head? The one that says you are never good enough. You keep trying to shut it up by performing, being perfect, and overachieving but nothing seems to work. You try and make everyone happy by never saying no, but you are just left holding the bag, feeling resentful. What if I told you, that you could stop hustling. That you are worthy of love and belonging, right now, as is. I know you call BS but that is your past tricking you into believing you aren't. You can put down the mask. You can learn to say no. You can feel safe in relationships. Instead of feeling empty, you can feel alive. Hell, maybe even some joy. I love working with young people who want to stop being so hard on themselves, want to stop hustling for love in all the wrong places, stop surviving on little sleep, Cheetos, and weed to being able to have healthy relationships while saying no, taking actual care of themselves, and know they are worthy. You can do hard things, but you're tired, or wondering if things have to be this hard. You take care of yourself, but you still feel lonely or worried. People on the outside might say you're crushing it, but on the inside, sometimes you feel you're being crushed. You have big questions for which there may be no answers. I live in the same world you do, with its profound beauty and heartbreaking flaws. I strive to connect with my clients authentically, and sit with them as we contemplate difficult questions. If you are looking for a warm and collaborative space to process your emotions and maybe get some podcast recommendations along the way, we might be a good fit. Oh, and if the phrase “Highly Sensitive Person” means something to you (or feels like it should), I’ve got you. My clinical expertise is with the young adult population, having spent a decade working in institutions of higher education. My private practice clients are typically in the 18-40ish age range. At this time, my practice is fully online via HIPAA-compliant videoconferencing. Please note, this modality is not suitable for everyone.
What if, what if you had a person to help you with reducing the burden of sadness...anxiety...fear... What if, what if you had a person who created a safe, non-judgmental space who could help you move towards positive change in your life. With over 20 years of experience, I have developed a compassionate and informed approach to therapy. My client centered approach integrates culturally informed and evidenced based treatment practices to address your specific needs. I believe in starting with people where they are and empowering them to create change in their life. If you’re ready to begin the journey of self-discovery and healing, I’d be honored to work with you.
Howdy! My name is A.B. and I’m a queer, nonbinary therapist born and raised right here in Texas. Don’t let the folksy exterior fool you: growing up in a small town taught me to treat strangers like family, to uplift and respect the folks around me, and, as my granddad always said, “If you can help ’em, then help ’em.” I’ve brought those values into my therapy work and left the bigotry and systemic oppression behind like the hogwash it is. I practice from a place of cultural humility, guided by the stories, strengths, and values my clients bring to the table. You’re the expert on your life, I’m just here to walk alongside you, bringing the tools I’ve got in my toolbelt to help you navigate whatever’s weighing you down. There’s nothing too big we can’t face together, and I trust that with you in the lead, we can work toward the outcomes you’re hoping for in therapy. I specialize in supporting clients through trauma, grief, mood disorders, LGBTQ+ issues, neurodivergence, identity exploration, crisis recovery, and relationship challenges. I also love working with children and their families around emotional regulation, school and family stress, and communication. I’ve got a soft spot for neurodivergent kids (and adults!) and bring a lot of energy and creativity into that work. In session, I pull from a variety of therapeutic approaches, including CBT, DBT, ACT, solution-focused, narrative, and collaborative therapies, plus a lot more. So don’t be surprised if I throw in a little art-making, somatic work, or IFS (parts work) now and then. I’m committed to being a lifelong learner, and if something isn’t clicking, I’ll work with you to find what does. I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Sam Houston State University in 2023, and before that, I got my B.A. in Theatre Education. So I’m definitely open to getting creative in sessions, though just plain talkin’ is great, too. Outside of therapy, I love baking, storytelling in all its forms (theatre, concerts, poetry slams, and tabletop RPGs), and learning about folks whose lives are different from mine. I also enjoy spending time with my partner and our beloved pets Pip, Charlie, and Winston. If you think I might be the right counselor for you, I’d be honored to meet you. Feel free to email me at ab@vadacounseling.com or schedule a free consultation online.
Hi, I'm Michelle Gorden, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). I received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a master’s degree in Forensic Psychology, and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I am currently training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Gottman Method for couples. I specialize in treating mood disorders, trauma, and PTSD. My background is diverse and supports my ability to help my clients reach their highest potential. I have worked in criminal justice, crisis stabilization, case management, and residential treatment. I am skilled in facilitating psycho-educational groups and providing intensive outpatient therapy. I strive to work collaboratively with each client in a non-judgmental space to improve overall happiness and well-being. Counseling can help you with many stressors in life such as anxiety, depression, grief, eating disorders, family conflict, and self-exploration. Counseling provides a safe place to take risks, be vulnerable, gain support, and become empowered to change your life. I have a laid-back style and focus on creating a safe space. My approach is pretty eclectic and my philosophy is that therapy can’t be one-size-fits-all. Treatments should be customized to each individual client, couple, or family. If you are ready to start your journey, please fill out our intake form and request to work with me.
If you're looking for a therapist who'll be your biggest hype girl but also call you out on your bullshit, I’ve got you. My sessions are 75-min because it gives us the time we need to go a little deeper. If you’ve got anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, trauma, and/or run of the mill existential angst, I’ve been there, so we’ll probably be a good fit. Text me and we’ll set up a time to chat.
I am Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas with a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have extensive experience with young adults and college-age students who are navigating life transitions, stress, anxiety, depression, and relationship or school-related challenges. My background includes supporting clients as a career development counselor, guiding them through career exploration, adjusting to college life, and maintaining balance between personal wellness and career success. I’m passionate about helping clients build confidence, manage change, and develop the clarity and resilience they need to move forward in both life and career. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and focused on helping you feel seen, understood, and empowered to create meaningful change.
Our time together will be spent figuring the aspects- emotional, intellectual, sensory-based, and behavioral- of life through out your own story. Growing into learning how to listen to yourself so you can trust what it is you know, and what it is you need will be at the core of each session so that the feelings of stress, overwhelm, anxiousness, depression no longer keep you detached from yourself. The tools I use are done with cultural considerations, and by acknowledging the extra burdens social constructs and systemic environments put on you. I start with listening and being a witness to your story. With your consent, I use therapeutic tools to assist you in taking an objective stance in your story, and in offering yourself compassion. Continuing through developing and honing in on how you understand your experience through strengthening the connection between your mind and body. I am also trained in and have used EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) with children, teens, adults of both the neurodiverse (Autism, ADHD, etc.) and neurotypical populations. EMDR is used in session, with your consent, when you feel the need to address larger internal hurdles such as phobias or trauma(s) (also known as PTSD or C-PTSD). All of the work will be done at your pace and with your specific needs in mind. I am an affirming counselor and believe counseling should be for everyone. I understand the systemic pressure that can have you trying to “get it right!” A benefit to you may be my stance on de-stigmatizing mental health by avoiding rigid diagnoses and accepting that there is more than one way to live and thrive in this/your world. I will be ready when you are. Until then, good luck on your search. My license number is #93296. I am supervised by Stamatis Bogdanos, LPC-S | #64556 in Houston, Tx. If you are under 18 and in need of a resource(s), here is a link to an article that may be able to help you find support: https://www.teenlife.com/blog/mental-health-resources-for-teens/
