Eating disorders leave us feeling out of control, insecure, and unfulfilled. You may be fed up with constant restriction, over eating, or both; feeling disconnected and self-conscious about your body; or overwhelmed with strong feelings and unsure of how to manage them. You might not even remember a time when it didn’t feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to heal your relationship with food. You’re ready to feel better in your own skin. Most of all, you’re ready to feel empowered and confident to take control of your life. Clients come to me looking for a therapist who treats the whole person, not just the eating disorder. Sessions with me are comfortable and interactive. Together, we increase mindfulness of the root cause of the eating disorder, assess your personal values and goals, and help you find fulfillment in the life you want to live. And we always go at your pace. As an experienced eating disorder therapist, I believe that everyone has the inner wisdom they need to heal. I can help you access it. You don’t have to continue living with the eating disorder, and you don’t have to do it alone. Call me today for a free consultation. I can’t wait to hear from you.

You’re thoughtful, capable, and often the one others rely on—but inside, you may feel overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally drained. Many of my clients struggle with overgiving, difficulty setting boundaries, relationship stress, or burnout. I help you understand your patterns, strengthen your voice, and build healthier, more balanced relationships so you can feel grounded, respected, and more like yourself again. I specialize in helping high-functioning adults navigate anxiety, trauma, and relationship challenges. Using a trauma-informed, integrative approach (CBT, DBT, EMDR), I support you in setting boundaries, regulating emotions, and creating healthier patterns in your life and relationships. You don’t have to carry everything on your own. If you’re ready to feel more supported, clear, and emotionally grounded, therapy can help you move forward with confidence and intention. I’d be honored to support you in this next chapter. My mission is to help people heal, grow and thrive - so they can achieve their goals and improve their lives. My work in counseling psychology emerged from being an artist. While earning my BFA at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, I was invited into my colleagues’ lives and learned to share their experiences through their lenses and perceptions. Graduate training at NYU sharpened this insight to bring a unique perspective to the therapeutic process. I provide feedback and reflection—infused with a dose of humor—in a warm, safe, and trusting atmosphere. My approach is both interactive and direct. I ask my clients to challenge themselves to be completely open and honest and share in a way that might feel like they’re ‘telling on themselves.’ Significant change and healing can only really begin with the whole truth. Believing strongly that the integration between mind and body leads to greater mental health, I encourage clients to incorporate physical activity and other treatment modalities: yoga, art, working out, running, massage, pets, acupuncture, meditation, medication, vacation, etc.

People seek counseling / therapy for many reasons - to gain understanding and insights, make changes, process experiences, for support and encouragement, and many others. Whether you are looking for a safe place to discuss whatever is on your mind, are interested in making life changes, or just want to give therapy a try, I welcome the opportunity to meet with you and see how I may be able to help. You can count on me to be reliable, truthful, and kind. My approach to therapy recognizes the importance of building a strong therapeutic relationship. I identify as queer and specialize in working with members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. I am an affirming practitioner. I have over 20 years of experience working with college and graduate students in college counseling centers, and as a result I've had the privilege of working with many people from all around the world. My therapeutic approach is culturally informed and integrates a whole-person perspective along with socio-cultural/political awareness and acknowledgement of the impact of systemic barriers on functioning. I am mindful of my own areas of privilege and how I show up in spaces and may be perceived by others. I attend to how I perceive others based on my own life experiences. I'm always working to educate myself and challenge my assumptions and biases. I read, try to keep up on the news (around the world, not just in the U.S.), and try to engage in conversations with people from various backgrounds. If you would like to have a brief, introductory conversation to discuss what you are looking for and how I may be able to help, please give me a call or send an email. An initial screening consultation is free. I look forward to hearing from you.

PVD Psychological Associates (PVD Psych) is a private psychology practice on the East Side of Providence, Rhode Island. Our mission is to provide the greater Rhode Island area with exceptional therapy, offering cutting edge and research-supported treatment by a team of highly trained therapists. We offer therapy for adults, college students, and adolescents struggling with anxiety, school/career concerns, eating disorders, infertility and women's health issues, and relationship difficulties. PVD Psych is a LGBTQIA-affirmative practice, and is one of few Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island LGBTQ Safe Zone certified providers. We strongly believe that everyone has the right to respectful and affirming, high quality care. My areas of specialization and interest include: women's issues, depression, anxiety, stress management, and working with LGBTQIA-identified individuals and family members. I practice primarily from a relational-dynamic perspective, though I also incorporate techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and narrative approaches to address and tailor treatment to the unique and individual needs of each client. In my work as a therapist, I focus on understanding early experiences and how psychological well-being can be fostered through relationships. I believe change and healing come through relationships: our relationships with ourselves, as well as our relationships with others. I view therapy as a collaborative process that allows both therapist and client to grow and change. My clients describe me as an empathetic, active listener who approaches their concerns with caring, respect, pragmatism, and sometimes, humor. I'm honored that you're considering working with me and I would be happy to answer any questions that you may have. Please feel free to contact me.

I recognize that finding a therapist can feel daunting and that asking for help is not always easy. I want to acknowledge this first step of looking at profiles and encourage you to take the time to find someone that feels like a good fit for you. If we work together, my goal is to provide a non-judgmental space where you feel heard and supported; we will also work together to identify goals and steps towards meaningful change that feel aligned with your life and your beliefs. Over the past 8 years I have worked with clients from diverse backgrounds with a broad range of needs and expectations. My work primarily focuses on supporting clients experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, and trauma. I am also passionate about helping people set boundaries in their relationships, advocate for themselves, build self-confidence, and commit to realistic self-care. I am mindful of the importance of context, including systemic barriers, cultural norms, and the dynamic nature of the counseling relationship itself in order to identify the best approach for you as an individual. I center my work with clients, irrespective of age and experience, on the belief that fundamentally every one of us is doing the best we can at any given moment. I strive to create the space necessary to move through what feels, and can be, unbearable, and move forward with hope and intention. I am currently accepting new clients via telehealth. Please reach out if you have any questions. I look forward to seeing if we could be a good fit to work together!

My job as your therapist is to provide a supportive, non-judgmental, goal-oriented environment for you to highlight and cultivate your best self. Or, in the words of Dolly Parton: "Find out who you are, and do it on purpose." I value humor, humility, and building on your existing strengths to help achieve your goals. My work is informed by a strong belief that our wellbeing is impacted by the environments within which we exist, and I work to help improve the communities and systems that we all inhabit. I specialize in helping clients address anxiety, depression, trauma, and identity development. My approach is casual and client-centered. My theoretical orientation is eclectic, meaning I draw on a broad range of clinical interventions and theories to best suit your specific needs. It's important to find a therapist who feels like a good fit. I invite you to reach out so we can touch base by phone and discuss any questions you might have about the therapy process.
