Let’s be honest. Life gets real sometimes. Things happen and we can wind up feeling stuck, lost, or hopeless. To top it all off, we often feel pressured to put on a brave face and weather the storm. It’s for these reasons that I founded Sunshine Counseling. You deserve a space where you can be yourself, where you don’t have to hide, and where you can safely process life. Truth be told, I named my therapy practice after a mug my friend gave me which sarcastically declares, "I am a ray of freaking sunshine!" This cheeky little mug actually encapsulates my world view. It is not all sunshine and rainbows. And that's ok. I tailor my approach to individuals, their needs, and their state of change. I believe that therapy is all about relationships and I want to aid others in having a healthy relationship with themselves that can then translate to having one with the people they choose to hold in their lives. Reaching out for support is a big step. Snaps for making it to this point. When you are ready, let's connect to schedule a free consultation. If I’m not the right fit for you or do not have the particular training or expertise to assist you, I will provide you with alternative referrals.

I’m passionate about supporting children, adolescents, and adults as they navigate the impact of trauma and life’s many challenges. My approach is grounded in the belief that healing happens through genuine connection and that you are the expert in your own story. Together, we will move at a pace that feels right for you, gently exploring and processing distressing thoughts, feelings, memories, and behaviors. Whether you’re struggling with PTSD, anxiety, depression, addiction, or ADHD, I offer a supportive, strength-based space where you can feel seen, heard, and empowered to move toward clarity and balance. I draw on a range of evidence-based therapies, including EMDR, Trauma-Focused CBT, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) tailoring these approaches to your unique needs and goals. Compassion, curiosity, and respect guide every step of our work together. As a trained EMDR therapist, I offer this powerful, healing approach when we mutually decide it’s a good fit. EMDR can help your mind and body process distressing experiences and restore a greater sense of calm and stability. My role is to walk alongside you on this journey helping you build insight, resilience, and meaningful tools that support lasting change.

I believe life is a process. Many things occur during this process. The challenge is our perspective and how we chose to look at life. There are times when the lenses through which we use to view life are clouded, but with the proper adjustments our vision can be much clearer. My goal is not to change you but to help facilitate the change that you desire. For some, this may take a few sessions and for others it may take longer. I am willing to get down in the trenches with you and bring you to the place where you desire to be. I am dedicated to bringing out the best in you.

How I contribute to my patient's needs is to provide a safe and comfortable space by listening without judgment, respecting confidentiality, and encouraging open communication. Life is nuanced. It is filled with choices, priorities, curve balls, imperfection, and grace. It is a commemoration of beginnings and endings. I specialize in working with individuals going through significant transition. This could be career change, terminating a relationship, processing through grief or simply wanting to change a habit. I am here to support, empower, and advocate for you as you go through change and find secure footing in uncertain times. My approach to therapy is purposely eclectic and person-centered, and sometimes incorporates creative/artistic recovery into treatment. It is my experience that positive change is best achieved through a collaborative approach to treatment. It is my intention through our therapeutic relationship that you understand the inherent wisdom you possess and that you recognize your personal strengths which allows you to live an authentic and purposeful life. Most of my work has been in agencies and academia. I have worked with individuals in substance abuse recovery, individuals processing through traumas, individuals trying to manage overwhelming emotions and seeking coping skills, individuals who are wanting a healthier relationship with their body, and individuals who are going through transitions or career exploration.
