Please feel free to contact me because I can assist with organizational skills, balancing your daily activities, and providing coping strategies. It is very rewarding for me to help clients.

Many mental health issues are related to a trauma response in the brain and body. Trauma is often conceptualized as one single event or experience that causes intense fear or distress. However, not all people who experience these kinds of events develop trauma symptoms, and many people who do experience trauma symptoms cannot identify a single event such as this. Another way to understand trauma symptoms is that they occur when an individual’s context overwhelms their nervous system’s ability to cope. This forces the nervous system to utilize strategies to try to bring the body back into balance. These strategies are usually useful or adaptive in the moment, but unhealthy and disruptive in the long run. The coping patterns can be related to addiction, disordered eating, the way we emotionally engage in relationships, or the chronic up-regulation (anxiety) or down-regulation (depression) of our nervous system. All are attempts to process the energy stored in the nervous system in response to stressors. Together we will utilize elements of mindfulness, somatic expression, Family Systems Theory, and Narrative therapy to develop new strategies to express emotion, regulate the nervous system, and communicate effectively with ourselves and with the people in our lives.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist (in the states of Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Ohio) who has been practicing for over 10 years. I have years of experience working with college students as I am a former College Counseling Center Director and worked in counseling centers as well as have seen college students in my private practice. I have years of experience providing both clinically and culturally competent therapy (meaning I collaborate with students to address topics they want to in therapy using tools/strategies that have been proven helpful and I take into consideration a student's various social identities and how that may impact how they experience the world). I find that I work well with students who are working through life transitions, adjustments, relationship stressors, experiencing anxiety(including those who experience social anxiety) depression, a desire to increase their self-esteem, racial trauma, or are in need increasing their overall coping skills.

College can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming. Many of the students I work with are trying to figure out their career path while also managing stress, anxiety, or feeling down. You might be questioning your major, worrying about the future, struggling with social anxiety, or feeling pressure to keep everything together while balancing school and life. I work best with college students who want a supportive place to talk through what they’re experiencing and learn practical ways to cope with stress, anxiety, and uncertainty about their next steps. Together, we focus on helping you feel more confident in your choices, manage difficult emotions, and build skills that make college—and life beyond it—feel more manageable.
