Gordon Greer is an outpatient therapist with extensive experience working with teens, adults and families in outpatient mental health and inpatient psychiatric settings. He currently works with teens, adults and their families concerning a wide range of issues, including (but not limited to) anger, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, insomnia, sexual and gender identity (Gordon is an LGBTQIA+ ally), interpersonal relationships, personality disorders, traumatic stress, suicidality, and chemical and process addiction. Because of his sensitivity to the possible apprehension involved with anything new or personal, Gordon places a particular emphasis on helping clients and families feel at ease from the very beginning. His relaxed approach is primarily informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Motivational Interviewing, both evidence-based treatments. Gordon also is a certified alcohol and drug counselor trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Outside of session, he enjoys sports, going outside, dry humor, and being with his wife, sons and dog.

In my experience working with people from different countries, I’ve seen the importance of providing a safe space where you can be yourself, feel understood and accepted regardless of your culture, religion, race, gender identity, sexual preference, or background. A good therapeutic relationship and a common comprehension of what led you to start therapy, will allow us to guide the therapy process, integrate techniques from different therapies, and give you a better grasp of how to achieve your goals. I’m Bilingual in English and Spanish, I have a master’s degree in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and an Advanced Certification in Schema Therapy. I draw from an integrative psychotherapy orientation, that allows the integration of other evidence-based therapies/techniques.

I've spent many years working in different college counseling centers and have a true love for the college population - so much is happening in emerging adulthood, especially figuring out who you are and what you want life to look like. Because of increased stress and responsibilities, it is also a time where mental health concerns can either emerge for the first time or increase in their severity. I find great joy in getting to be a supportive space and teammate for folks navigating this incredibly rich period of life.

Life can be a complicated journey and I believe that therapy can help make that journey more manageable and even enjoyable. I have been in the mental health field for over 20 years providing individual and group therapies to adults with mental illness and adults with developmental/intellectual disabilities, including those on the spectrum. I have experience in helping people manage depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, thought disorders and borderline personality disorder. I have a great deal of experience working with those who are navigating trauma, including those struggling with self-harm and thoughts of suicide. I also have experience working with those in the LGBTQIA+ community. In therapy, I believe that you are the expert and my role is to provide a safe and validating space for us to work together towards your goals. By listening to your thoughts, feelings and needs I am able to walk alongside you in your journey of finding hope, understanding, change and acceptance. To assist in your journey I use an eclectic approach of CBT, DBT, MBCT and motivational interviewing. I look forward to walking alongside you on your journey.

Sometimes life makes us carry way more than we can handle (although we rarely admit it) and that load takes a burden on us emotionally, physically, and mentally. It affects our relationships at work, home, and even our sex lives! It's not YOU, it's LIFE! My Specific areas of interest include marital conflict, divorce and/or remarriage, Infidelity, sex addiction, grief/loss, and more. If your LIFE is weighing you down, let's talk.

We help people understand how trauma affects them as a whole person and work with them to reunify their thoughts, emotions, and body. We have advanced training that can offer symptom relief and a path out of feeling hopeless. The good news is that with time and focus, most people can become symptom-free and manage difficulties from a place of inner strength. Our counselors have advanced training on how the brain and body respond to and hold onto the effects of trauma. Our team understands how trauma can have a lasting impact on people’s perspective, relationships, life story, daily functioning and how its effects can lead to feelings of extreme depression and anxiety as well as being misunderstood by others.

I have spent most of my life surrounded by people who are uncomfortable with or unwilling to discuss their bodies and sexual desires. This has always felt like an injustice as having a someone that you feel comfortable discussing sex with can be a very healing and enlightening experience. Our bodies and sex are inherent parts of self and I believe that your relationship to and understanding of your body is one of your core forms of knowing yourself. To understand your desires, or lack thereof, is to better understand yourself as a whole. I enjoy working with people who wish to understand themselves better on a sexual level. If you are someone who is working to unpack purity culture, working to reclaim your body after a sexual assault, working through discrepancies in sex drives with your partner, working to have an organism, or you are exploring kink I would love to be the person who provides you with a comfortable and safe space to do so. Another one of my passions is exploring the relationship between ADHD, Autism, and neurodivergence with your ability to experience both sexual desire and sexual gratification as it is largely under-discussed and deeply important. I would love to work with you as you figure out what that relationship looks like for you, and how desire and sex function with your specific wants and needs. The more you learn about and understand your relationship with desire, the more comfortable and confident you can feel in and out of the bedroom. Gaining the confidence to own what you want, or even understand why you want it, will help you gain a sense of freedom. You deserve to feel confident in your relationship with your bodily autonomy. I cannot wait to work with you as you empower yourself in your body, in your sex life, and your life as a whole.
