Welcome! Transitions are rarely as "seamless" as they look on social media. Whether you are a first-generation college student navigating a system that wasn’t built for you, or a member of the LGBTQIA+ community looking for a truly affirming space to land, I am here to support you. Why work with me? As a therapist with lived experience as both a first-gen graduate and a member of the queer community, I understand the "double-lens" many students carry. You won't have to spend your sessions educating me on the stakes of a "B-" grade when your family is counting on you, or explaining why coming out feels different when your campus and home life collide. I provide a space where you don't have to "code-switch" or pick one part of your identity over the other. In our work together, we will: Navigate "The First-Gen Weight": Unpack the imposter syndrome and achievement guilt that often come with being the first in your family to pursue a degree. Explore Identity with Ease: Provide a grounded, queer-affirming environment where your identity is celebrated, not just "tolerated." Build a "Chosen Home": Move past just "surviving" the semester and start building an internal sense of safety and belonging. College is a massive life shift—a pressure cooker for anxiety and depression. You don't have to figure it out alone. My clients are often high-achieving students who feel like 'outsiders' in academic spaces. They are looking for a therapist who 'gets it'—someone who understands the intersection of cultural expectations, queer identity, and the unique pressures of the first-generation experience. I know that taking the first step can feel overwhelming—especially if you’ve been taught to 'just push through' or if you’re worried about whether this space is truly for you. My approach is informed by years of experience "on the inside" as a public school teacher and guidance counselor. I’ve seen firsthand how the educational system can both support and fail students, especially those from marginalized backgrounds. This means I don’t just offer emotional support; I understand the actual logistics of academic burnout, the maze of campus resources, and the specific exhaustion of being a student in today's world. You don't need to have it all figured out before we talk. Whether you have a specific goal or just a heavy feeling you can't quite name, you are welcome here. I offer a free, 15-minute consultation call so we can see if we’re a good match—no pressure, just a chance to connect. Check out my website and click CONTACT ME to send me a brief message. I usually respond within 24–48 hours, and we can take it one small step at a time from there. Smiles:) Melissa Rappaport, MA, LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor)

Do you know there are 104 words you can find in the 9 letters that make up the word POTENTIAL? There are. I've found every one of them (the first time without an app to help me!). I'm committed to helping my clients find all the things inside to help them live out their potential: heal from trauma, work through anxiety and depression, whatever it may be. I use the good, bad, and otherwise to help them become better.

I have extensive experience working with people who have experienced loss in their life. I have worked many years in the hospice setting and it would be my honor to help you find hope and meaning. I enjoy working with adults struggling through a life transition, college stress, medical issue, professional burnout, caregiver burnout, trauma, anxiety/perinatal anxiety, or grief. My clients desire to connect to an internal sense of sturdiness that allows them to live more empowered, hopeful and meaningful lives. I have a clinical specialty working with people who are struggling to find connection in their relationships and are at a crossroad in their life (divorce, grief & loss, new parents, affair recovery, professional burnout). I would be honored to help you make sense of your life and rebuild again. I strive to provide a compassionate, gentle, safe, and trustworthy environment that fosters a strong, therapeutic relationship. I operate from a holistic therapy approach that is person-centered and draws on the strengths of my clients. My approach integrates a variety of theories to help clients gain a better understanding of themselves and their emotions. I am dedicated to creating a non-judgmental and empathic space where my clients feel seen and heard. I value and honor the unique story of each client, as well as the vulnerability it takes to reach out for support. Together, we will hold curiosity about your struggles and begin a journey of growth and healing.

Getting started can be overwhelming. My goal is to help you feel as comfortable as possible so we can go at your pace. I specialize in working with clients with anxiety, ADHD, trauma, and addiction. Many of my clients have tried to cope with difficult life changes by pushing their feelings away or finding short-term coping mechanisms that serve as a distraction. My role is to help people listen to and manage their emotions without feeling overwhelmed or ruled by them. Being personally in recovery from alcohol helps me understand and empathize with what you’re going through because I’ve probably been there too. I like to break down clinical approaches to collaboratively determine the best fit for each person’s unique goals. I incorporate elements of neurobiology, cognitive behavioral therapy, and schema work to help people better understand themselves and make meaningful changes in their lives. If you're not sure what you're looking for yet, that's okay! Feel free to reach out to set up an introductory phone call to see if we're a good fit.

Hi there! I’m so glad you’re here and taking this important step in your therapy journey. My name is Ruqaiyah Rogers, and I’m a licensed clinical social worker and therapist. I’m passionate about helping college students like you find clarity, confidence, and balance while navigating life’s challenges. 🌟 College can be an exciting time, but it can also feel overwhelming whether you’re dealing with anxiety, stress, depression, big life changes, or just feeling stuck. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where you feel comfortable exploring what’s going on and figuring out ways to move forward. I see therapy as a partnership. We’ll work together to identify your goals and use approaches that fit your unique needs. For example: CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy): This is all about helping you recognize and shift unhelpful thought patterns so you can feel more in control of your emotions and actions. DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy): Here, we focus on learning practical skills like managing overwhelming feelings, improving relationships, and staying grounded in the moment. Brainspotting: This is a technique that helps process deeper emotions and stress stored in your body. It’s great for understanding and healing from tough experiences. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): This approach is especially helpful for working through difficult memories or trauma, so they don’t feel as overwhelming anymore. If this is your first time in therapy, you might feel a little nervous, and that’s completely normal. Therapy is a space just for you, a private, judgment-free zone, to talk about anything that’s on your mind, no matter how big or small. You’re already showing courage by taking this step, and I’m here to support you in finding your way toward growth, healing, and the life you want. Let’s work together to create meaningful change and help you feel more confident and connected to yourself. 💜💛
